      Because of his contract situation, Michkov could almost pick which teams he wanted to play for and I am sure his agent let some teams know about it; that would explain why Arizona did not pick him. Montreal as usual went for needs with Reinbacher since they really liked him anyway...!!!

    In three years when he is finally available, michkov will be lucky to make the NHL. If nothing else, he is likely to be mis-coached, and underused. Why should a team he is going to leave, spend any time developing him for the NHL. The Russian psyche, as we are seeing in Ukraine, is such that ‘if I can’t have something, then no one can have it.’

Not professional to say Michkov refused to play in MTL which makes him look bad, or that they feared getting him out of Russia which makes Russia look bad. It also plays on the mind of Reinbacher that he otherwise wouldn't have been a Top 5. The best way is to simply say we got the guy we wanted and pat him on the back. I suspect that people will eventually talk on the record if/when Michkov outplays Reinbacher, and if he doesn't outplay him, then people are going to be happy with Reinbacher and the comparison stops, or when he retires someone might say, oh, we were lucky because we wanted Michkov. Reinbacher needs a couple of years, but he will be the "Swiss Army" of D-man for Montreal. It will take him 5 years to be part of the leadership of Montreal. Michkov will never be part of the leadership of any NHL team. Montreal has so many prospects that they will poach a player that will give them the additional goal scoring that they will need in the near future. Let Kent manage this, trust in his plan, his plan is to win and he knows the players and as Gorton and him put it together, they will manage the risk. Whether they take a step back at any time, they will never eat any of the crap these guys are saying about Michkov. David is looking for the opportunity to prove Montreal right, and he will. Whether he scores 60g and 100pts, he will be a potential minus player, on a team that is lacking the highend talent needed to win.

  • @rgood1204
    @rgood1204 Год назад +6

    I hope Michkov scores 60 goals and 100 plus points. All those character attacks should come back to bite the teams that passed on him other than Bedard (possibly) in the backside. Bet this guest saw him play a lot more than the other guest that constantly bad mouths him.

      The Montreal Canadiens along with their media friends are basically attempting to make Michkov look bad to make the fans accept their pick (Reinbacher) which was not very popular on draft day. If Michkov becomes what he is supposed to be in the NHL, it will be a similar situation as for KK/Tkatchuk all over again...unless Reinbacher becomes himself a star defenseman...which I doubt since scouting reports describe him as a likely second pairing defenseman !!!

    Did not have Reinbacher anywhere near my top 20 because we need several quality forwards so I expected Hughes to pick as many forwards as possible.
    There is one obstacle that a Russian player like many other juniors has to over come and that is a longer NHL grind.
    What happened to Mitchkov is the Nickleback meme all over again a bandwagon was started and all the dummies jumped on it and were like oh yeah this kid has an attitude problem ..lmao.

    • @powers1500

      Indeed, Reinbacher was ranked in the twenties for most of the last season but his stock only started rising approx. a month prior the draft because the scouts realized that he might be the best defenseman available in a very bad draft year for defensemen. Now certain fans/media want us to believe that he might become another Seider or Dahlin...I hope they are right!!!

    Tony, your effort is there, you get some great stories, but your desire to push and make the team regret what they do is laughable. You've overplayed the Michkov story instead of understanding and trusting in the decision made by the team. It's amost like you feel that they need to regret their decision to draft Reinbacher, because you understand soccer/football more than you understand hockey. Your ego and justification is getting in the way of the fact that the team has a plan; the Hughes plan will trump the Marinaro plan. You might have had a couple of inside stories, but you're beating a dead horse because neither has played an NHL game. My belief is, if they take him slowly and don't rush Reinbacher, they end up with a dman that makes you eat your words. I hate to say this, as I support and subscribe to your channel, I scout for a team that I will be walking away from shortly that is a feeder that they don't know yet. Michkov is a winger, a scorer, but he's not a centerman with dominate capabilities to control the game. He has skills, he might have had more scoring potential than Ovi, but he is playing in a weaker league than Ovi played in, different times, different eras, almost a 20 year difference with a weaker KHL than before. You need to grow your vision insead of being so locked on a guy that Montreal didn't pick. I will watch you one last time, improve your content. I'll be back moving to Montreal in early December to get my nephew into prep school.
