You have the best QB analysis. Where are all the Baker haters who keep telling us he's a career back up QB? Where are those geniuses? They used to hang out on all the Panthers and Bucs comment sections.
Great breakdown. I thought Mayfield got an A instead of an A+, but that is semantics. He doesn't get MVP talk because they are 8-6 and everyone in the media hates him.
As a Bucs fan and mayfield enjoyer, the amount of picks that are pretty solidly on him bumps him just out of mvp for me, though I think he’s fantastic and I’m happy to have him
Baker is who we all thought we were when playing quarterback on the playground in the fifth grade, except he's doing it in the pros and it's hilarious.
After the game, I couldn't wait to check out your analysis & breakdown! As always, loved seeing the different angles/perspectives you shared along w your analysis. And in agreement w Baker earning an A+ for this performance. Aside from that errant throw (2nd qtr woes are for real!) Baker was surgical w his throws; and played w excellent pace & tempo. Chargers were looking for answers given that the ball was coming out so quick yet accurately. I have to say that you articulated something that I intuitively recognized for SO long: Baker's UNIQUE talent of throwing accurately as a righty running to his left. It's something that I've always noticed from QBs that scramble/extend plays that they tend to go towards their dominant hand side. And usually are not as accurate when going the other direction. And that talent was demonstrated in that no-look throw to Mike Evans for a TD?! And checking out your breakdown learning that Baker went off script and improvised that play with Mike Evans makes that play even more amazing! When Baker gets in a rhythm like that, there's really nothing you can do to stop him. That second half he was LITERALLY PERFECT! As he went 8 for 8 for 148 yards throwing for 3 TDs..on the road...against a team that entered the game as the #1 scoring defense! Anyways, thanks again for sharing your insights & breakdowns here! Much appreciated!
Great video as always, Joe. Quick question regarding the play at 16:00: is there any way that a QB would be able to know they're facing cover 4 rather than cover 2? What could alert them to this?
Good question! It's tough. Typically, cover 4 CBs give more cushion and the Ss play a little closer to the line of scrimmage. The differences are very minute, though. Much easier to tell 2/4 vs 1/3.
I did not get this game in my market, so I was watching it periodically on my phone. Ive watched your video like 4 times now just to see these awesome throws on my big screen😎😆
That was amazing. Just really well done. I've been watching football for 50 years and I learned something today. I'd love to see a breakdown of that entire stat sheet you put together and give us an idea of what rates something a great or elite throw (IOW, what's the difference specifically), and what exactly you mean by a +pocket movement, etc...
There is this weird thing with Baker by the casual fans and national media that he gets all of the blame when things go wrong but very little of the credit when it's going well. Probably why he's not in the MVP conversation (you would think the TDs alone would put him there as that seems to be the only criteria for a lot of the national media who don't really watch all of the games). The biggest disconnect I see between your analysis and what the other "analysts" think is the Oline. What is PFF seeing that they think this is the second best Oline in pass protection behind the broncos? I don't really see it (although today seemed better), and you would think the fact that Baker has been getting the ball out faster than he ever has means that Liam Coen also thinks the pass protection won't hold up, but every time Baker has one of these elite performances PFF is just drooling over Cody Mauch and Luke Goedeke??? PS I love these videos. I know you've made some on guys like Daniels and Williams to show their struggles, but wondering if you would ever make one about a media darling like Goff, Love or Mahommes this year to show some of their struggles relative to guys like Herbert who are playing well but don't really get the recognition.
Joe: at 18:30, does Baker miss Shepard open in the EZ? Or is that one of those OBJ SR. kind of moments, where it only looks wide open because he had already committed to the throw and Shepard's defender left to help tackle Evans?
In a weird way, Bakers INTs are almost a blessing. Because the Bucs won despite them. So, this let's Baker be fearless and play aggressive. He has a lot of confidence in the defense. He also knows that the Offense can move the ball. Winning despite interceptions removes fear.
Tip of the hat to Baker and the Bucs OC. Minter's schemes completely fell apart, in part because they could get no pass rush and no pressure on Mayfield. But it takes a QB performing and a team scheming well to make that happen, and that is exactly what happened.
Why people put down Baker is the fact the Browns did him wrong, that stigma stuck. He honestly out performs most QBs on any given Sunday. And I have always loved when Baker runs because he wont shy from a hit but truck the hit for another 5 yards.
i think hes not in the mvp conversation because there 8-6 no other reason i think josh allen should be unanimous at this point and until yesterday i thought saquan should get votes
shhhh... Don't tell everyone. Bucs getting hot in Dec. Baker playing his best football. If the defense can get a little healthier late, we got a real shot.
It should be noted, the Chargers have rookies for CB’s missing a LB hurt from that squad and have aging DE’s. While don’t get me wrong thr Bucs are nice this defensive day for the Chargers wasn’t their best outing.
Those rookies who are their CB2&3 are their starters. Same guys who have made them the #1 scoring defense in the NFL. The Chargers were totally healthy. You're not making a point here.
@@pbfg what’s that got to do with them being rookies, it’s to say they can get beat, it’s to say when the chargers lose Denzel Perryman is always on the sidelines, it’s to say Bosa and Mack are getting older. I’m making solid facts, the number one scoring defense. I know ppl say that but as Charger fans we know that’s not the best defense in the NFL. Y’all buy into that but not real chargers fans. We see them getting wore out in every second half. We know not to believe the hype but y’all believe anything about any team tho. Not us. Y’all not like us.

I wish i got even one apology 😢
Wake up honey, new reminder that Baker is elite just dropped
The 45 yd laser to Evans was phukkn sick!
Agreed!
24:30. When you have a rail gun for an arm you can do that sort of thing.
Some of the best breakdowns in the biz 🔥
Thanks, man!
Great breakdown. I thought Mayfield got an A instead of an A+, but that is semantics. He doesn't get MVP talk because they are 8-6 and everyone in the media hates him.
Short, sweet, and to the point!
As a Bucs fan and mayfield enjoyer, the amount of picks that are pretty solidly on him bumps him just out of mvp for me, though I think he’s fantastic and I’m happy to have him
Baker has 35 total TDs (3 rushing). If Godwin didnt break his ankle, he'd have 40 by now.
Definitely
What a feeling on a Monday😁
I never doubted he can play.
Awesome breakdown as usual from you Joe. Love to see Baker thriving in Tampa as a Steelers fan 😂
Thanks for the watch!
Awesome breakdown thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I see a Baker video I press click on it

Great work as always Joe...Was wondering what you thought of Bryce Young this past week and what you graded him
I didn't grade Bryce this week, but it looked pretty bad from what I've seen
@@pbfg Lol hopefully it's just a bump in the road and we're not back on Bryce Young pumpkin watch

@@pbfg Exactly like that! Thank you sir!
I’m so happy to see Baker baking
Great assessment!! I as a viewer, was slow to the route adjustments. I recommend implementing a BOLD 2nd read on both QB or LB/S/C reads
Baker is a gun slinger qb! If he were up 28-0 on an opponent, he would get more aggressive. I love these type of qb's!

I am trying to stick to positive reviews, but I will think about a Mahomes video or something similar
Joe: at 18:30, does Baker miss Shepard open in the EZ? Or is that one of those OBJ SR. kind of moments, where it only looks wide open because he had already committed to the throw and Shepard's defender left to help tackle Evans?
The CB on Shep bites down to assist in the tackle when Baker begins his throw
By the time Shep is open, the ball is gone

Jesse Minter is a brilliant DC, but a great QB and Oc will always beat a great DC
As usual… GREAT BREAKDOWN! Thanks Joe!
Thanks!
Yeah! you lost me when you said he's not like justin herbert. Baker is elite.
Do a video on JD5s game vs Saints
To what end? It was an extremely boring performance
