@@user-ez9op6zd3j Put simply, he had no restraints. No one telling him what to do and just did things on his own or because he felt like it. If someone caused him trouble, he'd just pound them until they gave up or he'd bully them until they gave him what he wanted.
When he died, he beat up the Ten Kings until he forced them to show him the Book of Life and Death, where he proceeded to erase his name, as well as the names of all the monkeys he knew.
When he went to the Eastern Sea, he broke all of Ao Guang's weapons because those weapons were too weak for him. He took the Ruyi Jingu Bang (an item said to be impossibly heavy, but Wukong wielded it like it was nothing) and forced the four Dragon Kings to give him stuff.
When he was appointed as "Keeper of the Heavenly Horses", he learned the title was so low it wasn't worth acknowledging, he released the horses and caused a bit of trouble before leaving. When given a better title "Guardian of the Heavenly Peaches", which produced three different kind of peaches with different kinds of immortality. He ate all three and when he learned he wouldn't be invited to a special banquet (because he wasn't an important celestial deity), he snuck in early, drank the Wine of Immortality, got drunk, and stumbled into Laozi's Lab, where he ate the Pills of Longevity.
After returning to his mountain, he fights against the entire Army of Heaven, consisting of 100,000 Celestial Warriors, all 28 constellations, Ne Zha, the Four Heavenly Kings, and Muzha. All of them are defeated. He's only defeated when Laozi hits him in the head with a ring/bowl while he's fighting Erlang Shen (someone who's actually evenly matched with Sun Wukong). The ring/bowl itself either distracts him long enough for Erlang Shen to capture him or just knocks him out right then and there.
After being captured, they were unable to execute him, so they put him into the Eight-Way Trigram Crucible, heated by the Samadhi Fires for 49 days straight. He survived by hiding in a specific corner, but was made stronger as a result (granting him the power to see incredibly far and see through any disguise, illusion, or transformation) and upon escaping, pretty much destroyed all of heaven and no one was able to stop him until the Jade Emperor turned to Buddha, who sealed him under a mountain for 500 years. (I also want to mention that Buddha bet that Sun Wukong couldn't escape from his palm. Taking the bet, Sun Wukong flew to the edge of the universe and arrived at five pillars and urinated on one of them before flying back, only to learn that the pillars were Buddha's fingers. So basically, he peed on Buddha's hand.)
Even after joining Tang Sanzang on his journey, Sun Wukong was difficult to control and being so violent, Tang Sanzang feared for his life until he was given the golden circlet to put on Sun Wukong's head, which would tighten when he reciting a certain sutra, causing Sun Wukong to experience terrible pain and keep him in line.
"Loyal" companion? That's putting it pretty kindly, mr obedience crown.

I didn't get to see this episode did he ever mention that cuz I think it would speak to his character at least in the show that even without the crown he wanted to be there for his friends and master cuz from what I remember from other stories I didn't actually read the original but it always seemed that even though he hated the position he was in he respected those around him because not only were they strong but it was also how they treated him
Wu Kong is loyal to his master because he is the one save him from the mountains. Don't act like Wu Kong was not a rebellious chaos demon that will killed human and innoncent life, screw over the law of heaven, hell because he felt like it. The crown he had on his head is only there because after the first day his master free him. When they stay at a human house for a night, Wu Kong get annoyed at this human and would have killed them if his master didn't stop him. Later Guanyin gave his master the crown to put on him so he wouldn't act out. Remember, Wu Kong was an unruling demon.
Due to the fact there was already xu-bajie and cha wuxi on the journey, at that point wukong was already more friendly with the monk sure, the crown was still there, but through the journey he actually get along with his companions
I like how he kinda acts like monke kid/MK in this its like a "like father like son" vibe but sun still is stronger

How is that making fun of Macaque? Sun Wukong is also really manipulative- a lot more then Macaque. Macaque is honestly just being brutally honest with people

And the PROBLEM is mk is getting some of those bad traits and habits
Ppl say when u spend alot of time with someone u become like them eventually
Lets hope mk doesnt become lkke him when he is an old man

@@p00m0nsyet8 well now that I’ve become more aware how bad of person Wokong is I do agree with you but I think it was still somewhat meant to poke fun at or can at least be viewed that way about Macaque since Macaque is also manipulative and a jerk to MK and his friends as well as Wokong laughing at his own joke afterwords. But it makes just as much sense if he would be talking about his current self

Glad they remembered the rivalry between Sun Wukong and Zhu Baije.
Man, it's a good thing the old him had 2 brain cells. Otherwise he might have noticed the golden fillet was missing and THAT could have been a whole situation.
Actually, the fact his last friend group kept him in a magic shock collar for 14 years and he all but slaughtered the one before that. Might explain his empathy issues and his tendency to go into dissociative states.

At 3:37 if I remember correctly, in some tales, the crown the Sun Wukong wears around his head at some point was used to control him or at least made him less destructive. I wonder if that’ll be relevant later 🤔
Yeah, it basically contricted around his head to give him major headaches
It would shrink given the right spell or whatever and because he is immortal 69420 times over he can’t get hurt by it and so it just generates a ton of pressure and makes a migraine that gets worse or something
The crown on his head was only put there cuz at first, Wukong didn't want to help the monk.
But after everything he went through with him and the others, he changed his mind about it.
Well this aged gracefully, it becomes relevant in season 5. ^^
I absolutely died when sun Wu lost his memory, I am still weezing in the corner of my room trying very hard to breath and my heart is mixed with emotions and I dunno what to feel rn

Tang is likely Tripitaka's reincarnation (monkey king's master).
And that makes him insanely powerful in here.
He has his protective barrier, also seems to have space manipulation, sealing capacities to an extreme level along with many other possible feats he could do with his staff.
A lot of knowledge, not surprising Tang ended up becoming a scholar when in his previous life he was Sanzang.
Also we probably haven't seen all of his powers I can't wait to see more! I'm not even naming the ones the golden cicada has. He'll probably pay a great part into LBD defeat!

Maybe because he isn't well in this situation.It'd be cute if they write him saying something like "Aww,Sifu and Guan Yin trusts me so much I don't need the circlet!" Though that'd be almost impossible to keep it cute for too long.

It wasn’t until after the journey that they had their fight right? So if his memories are thrown back to before the journey was complete he wouldn’t have fought Macaque yet
@@cordrobertson6864True, but in a season 4 flashback it shows Macaque visiting Wukong while he was trapped under the mountain (Before the journey began) and then they had a fight. I don't necessarily think he'd still see them as friends but I also don't think he'd hate him as much as he does now.

Another fun fact: Journey to the West is an over 400 year old novel. Also Son Goku is the literal Japanese name for Sun Wukong.

The actual Kanji that make up the name "Son Goku" each have their own meaning in Japanese, and, depending on the interpretation, can have a ton of different meanings. Notably, one interpretation is "bird mountain", which is what Akira Toriyama, Dragonball's Creator, calls his studio. Language is pretty fun.

He is merely a changling, a race in dnd capable of looking like any race they please, that is so far schizophrenic he thinks he did everything the real wukong did before he was trapped under a mountain. I don’t really like the characterization here. Sun Wukong was never such a suck up in the stories.
True, but the way he is normally in the show is basically how he is in those stories. Atleast the amnesia bit makes sense from that perspective.
from what I could recall from the original journey to the west and it’s adaptations, wu Kong actually became humbled and very loyal to Tang San Zhang so this amnesiac Lego Wu Kong is still faithful to the stories. I’m honestly surprised how faithful a legos adaptation is to the original source material
