Wukong's self awareness about how he's like without friends honestly makes things even sadder because all his friends died. His initial goal of gaining immortality (and doing so at least 5x) being the thing that caused it, which he's probably painfully aware of at present...maybe why he's so resistant to forming deeper bonds with the group
Well, technically, it was only Xuanzang that died since he was the only human in the group during the Journey To The West. Pigsy(or Bajie) and Sandy were former heavenly beings who got punished for their actions(Bajie got drunk and hit on a fellow deity too many times, and Sandy, I forgot what he did sadly. Still reading the book). Xuanzang is also known as the Golden Cicada who was a disciple of Buddha, and lived nine lives through reincarnation, which the ninth one is when he's the Tang Priest and begun his journey with Wukong and the others.
So, long story short, Xuanzang is long gone only, and sure, he may be estranged with Pigsy & Sandy, but it's not all bad.💧

@@REALdominogaminggrounds in the original text sure, but this is a "sequel" of sorts set WAY after the fact and Tang even says how he's met this Pigsy's parents. Pigsy and Sandy in MK both talk about not being the originals. While the series is fairly faithful to the original in what it brings over, it is not a direct retelling of the story like most adaptations.
I get what you're saying I just don't think it applies to the MK version of things.

Fun fact about Wukong's staff: he visited Ao Kuang and asked about a potential weapon fitting for a king(which was before he became the Great Sage and attaining his other immortalities), and the Dragon king would humor the idea. Each weapon given to Wukong, Wukong didn't find them appealing to his immense strength, until he decided to take the pillar that supposed to measure the very sea, and upon lifting it up with his immense strength was Kuang shocked even when it shrank in the Monkey-King's hand. After that, Wukong wanted armor in which Kuang asked for the help of other dragon rulers to help provide in order to get the guy out sooner(lol).

As a person who studied psychology and body language, I can say that it _does_ make sense for him to have stage fright. He’s never actually “performed” anything. All the spectacular stuff he does is all improvised. But when it comes to memorizing a script or a rehearsal, he panics. He’d rather just do things on the fly. And when he fights, it’s usually random people who _happen_ to see him. But this is a whole crowd who are there _specifically_ to watch him.

And this also connects with the way he's thinks/plans and the outcome of it.Which is amazing since he made it since the beginning of season 2,meaning that he just wrote it in his head and never reviewed any potential flaws.He literally does everything in impromtu.
Kinda unrelated but I like how his opposite,Macaque,is a theater kid that plans stuff thoroughly.You can see with how he's basically playing with the two sides for the safety of himself,and it works! He survived...until the unexpected appears: possesed Wukong.You can also see that he's poking holes on Wukong's plan,because he knows Wukong long enough to know he's reckless.Another thing that I like is this part of his personality is taken from that part of the book where Wujing arrived at mount Huaguo and saw Macaque narrating the pilgrims' travel logs to the monkeys.

After finishing Season 3, in 4:23 where Sun Wukong says, "2 + 2" it's supposed to be "4" and MK says "it 3" for 3 rings which he got wrong, but right now I've just realized that this is foreshadowing. Also, Wukong standing on top of the dragon that is around the ring on the ground is also foreshadowing.

He is actually referring to commonly worshiped god, known as “土地公” who is often believed to the guardian of the ground. However because this deity is so commonly worshiped, its story has many variations. If anyone is interested in doing more research, I suggest you looking up Tudigong in English!
