I like how in the Chinese version, when he lost his memories, his voice became squeaky, and after he remembered everything again, his voice returned to normal, hehe
I wonder if this is because he's speaking the God Dialect, which is supposed to be high pitched. Or at least according to the Sun Wukong Medium-priest videos I've watched.
the voice actor is actually imitating the way the 1986 sun wukong actor played him! with squeaky voices and sudden inflections in tone so yes it was sort of a joke easter egg
Not only is the cat doing the Yamcha death pose, he’s doing it when Wukong calls him Sha Wuxing. Yamcha is Dragonball’s parallel to Sha Wuxing (like how Oolong is to Zhu Baije and Son Goku to Sun Wukong).
T-T love how the chinese version is an homage to all the old adaptations of sun wukong, especially the 1986 live action version (performed by liu xiao ling tong) that defined the character’s image. Though not exactly the same, the VA perfectly captured the same intelligent playful vibe with the iconic intonations, and together with the old fashioned speech pattern its a really nostalgic performance
Wait wait oh my God!!! I've barely been able to find any of the Chinese version of Lego Monkie Kid despite really wanting to (to practice my Chinese but also because I love watching donghua and Sun Wukong is my childhood hero, so having it in Chinese would be really cool). So getting to hear more of him now... It's so perfect!! It's so so nostalgic for me because he really does sound like the Sun Wukong's that I grew up with (including my favourite version, the 1999 animated series). He's so cuuuuute! His voice is perfectly playful and I love how he really has those Sun Wukong mannerisms in his speech-things that never get translated into English, whether it's a subbed donghua or a dubbed series. For example, he calls himself "Lao Sun" in the first line displayed in this video, which literally means "Old Sun" but sort of means to evoke the energy of him calling himself "Boss Sun." In comparison, the English just has him call himself "Sun Wukong" in third person, which works fine, but it doesn't capture the same energy... "Lao Sun" is just such a him trademark in so many various adaptations, and it makes me so nostalgically happy!! Also I know the English dub uses Goku's English VA, and it fits for that and I know it means a lot to others, but this video kind of made me realize how much I missed that Sun Wukong playfulness that is so natural to Chinese versions of him. This isn't a knock against the English version at all! The cast for that is super strong-I just suddenly got hit with so many feels hearing his Chinese dub. ;w;
Wow, I love your comment and I'm glad you can see it in Chinese, and give so many interesting facts, the truth is that although I love the English voices, I loved the Chinese voices in this chapter, and I decided to see it more like this
They're both great voice actors, but I much prefer the Chinese voice actor for Sun Wukong. I watched the old classics for Journey to the west (in Mandarin), and the voice just has that nostalgia factor... plus, it really fits the personality of Monkey King.
Not if you grew up with Sun Wukong! This is how he often sounds in all the original Chinese adaptations out there. There’s usually a gremlin-like monkey-ness to him. 😂
His Chinese voice sounds more Trickster like.
While the English one makes him sound like more of a hero.
That's the genius of Sean Schemmel
The Chinese people usually want the spirits to sound what they’re supposed to sound like. For example: Sun wukong sounding like a monkey

@@zeppelinzeppelini wow! didnt know that
@@zeppelinzeppelini I heard that this isn't even the first time the Chinese VA played Wukong.
His chinese voice gives me nostalgic JTTW-vibes, the emphasis made him really sound like his younger himself
I AREE ITS SOOO GOOD

Wukong sounds like a little gremlin when he laughs lmao

That right
Stole my heart. Wukong is such a cutie!
Whoever casted the Chinese and English voice actors for this character, totally nailed it.
I can’t believe it took me THIS LONG to realize the cat is doing the Yamcha death pose when Wukong drops it
They reference that pose a lot in the show
Believe me, I just noticed it myself. 🤣
They are never gonna let Yamcha live down that L
Time stamp pls

The Chinese/Cantonese va is actually Dicky Cheung, who played wukong in a 1996 series
*Especially* his impish laugh.
4:24 I love this dub so much!! He sounds so excited
I can't help but laugh at the fact that the English voice actor is also Son Goku from Dragon Ball. That's honestly perfect.
His Chinese and English voice is so cute and cool :0
His Chinese cackle does remind of a gremlin would sound.

hi!! do you still have it? i would love to rewatch it in chinese :>
Do you know where I can watch the chinese version of the series?
let me add one more detail. Not just” Lao Sun”, he also called himself “An(俺)”, which also match the old adaptations and the original jttw

His sound so silly in Chinese dub i love him
I love how he just didn't know the difference between the real sandy and Mo 😆
Chinese dub is like mix of 1980 version squeaky voice + Dicky Cheung as va to reference his 1996 version lol
3:50 NO! My staff :(
4:26 & 4:37 the way he hollers from his mouth being on fire from both dubs is hilarious 😂
His voice in Chinese is adorable
they both have that determined youthfulness captured SO well
Sun Wukong: TUDI!!! TUDI!!! TUDITUDITUDI!! TUDI! TUUUUUUDIIIIIII!! XD

Its haunts me because its beyond my simpness... I cannot stop this.. AAAAAAAAQAAAQA
ok the chinese dub is actually awesome
0:39 obviously the cat is Sha Wuxing. Only the real Sha Wuxing can do the Yamcha death pose.
Exactly thats Sha wuxing's aka Sandy cat
"Hey, it's me! Wukong!"
Is that all you got fa-!
4:24 is my favourite
I love both these idiots so much. 😭
I like how he absolutely not bothered about Ao Lie not being here... Or did he think he was the trunk?
They always forget the horse...
Same like how Gang Avatar forget Toph is blind, The Pilgrime also always forget about the horse lmao
@@valhatan3907 Zhu Bajie always remembered about the horse. Piggy dude tried to sell the poor guy at any possible moment.
Its funny becouse all the characters that wukong said is baise in a real story

Why does this show have so many references to Yamcha? First it was Kid, then a couple of others if I'm not mistaken, and now a cat.
the cat is mo
Dang where can i watch this chinese dub?!
Do you by any chance have the link to watch LMK in chinese?
Of f**king course theres a yamcha death pose XD
Dicky Cheung still got it!!!
Can someone tell me why is he amnesic in the first place?
Because he was meditating and Tang and Pigsy needed his help so Pigsy gives him a super hot chili and that causes him to lose his memory
