  • @UncleRhemus1

    Yes the live version of this, from the Live and Dangerous album, is the best known version and the only slow song they played in concert. They did have a lot of blues material especially early on when they were a trio and unknown in the US.
    The second vocalist on this track was Frankie Miller, and the lead guitar was the late great Gary Moore who later was the second guitarist on the Black Rose album. This was one of my top five favorite bands of all time and I've collected all the recordings from their initial 3 DECCA albums down to the end.
    My biggest recommendations besides the live version of this song is Bad Reputation and Don't Believe a Word. Besides the awesome guitar and drums, Brian Downey shines on drums. My all-time favorite drummer. I was privileged to see these guys in my hometown on their Live and Dangerous tour in '78.

  • @erikthompson619
    @erikthompson619 21 день назад

    Phil Lynott was not just the singer, but also the (great) bassist, lest we forget 🙂
    If you miss the HEAVY ROCK Thin Lizzy, some gems I think you've yet to hear include "Cold sweat", "Emerald", "Massacre", "Bad reputation", "Thunder and lightning", "Angel of death", "Boogie woogie dance", "Are you ready", "That woman's gonna break your heart", "Hollywood", "This is the one", "Killer on the loose", "Chinatown" and "It's getting dangerous". Phil Lynott also guests on Gary Moore's (the guitarist on "Still in love with you") big solo hit "Out in the fields", a hard rocking track as well. (Most people remember Gary as a blues player, but many of us still remember him most fondly as a stellar hard rock artist in the 80s. One of his biggest hits from this era, "Over the hills and far away", was later also covered by none other than Nightwish.) On a more mellow note, I'd recommend Phil's melancholy, pensive solo lament over Elvis Presley, "King's call", with Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) on guitar.

I’m lucky to have seen them twice, in the 70s at the Colston Hall in Bristol. 1976 with Brian Robinson, Scott Gorham both on lead guitars. And in 78 with Gary Moore, just a total knockout both times.

      @@79BlackRose You're absolutely right--they met in the late '70s and married in '80. For some reason, I had thought that they married years earlier, but I was wrong. Still, in terms of the original comment to which I was replying, this song could not have possibly been about their marriage and divorce, because when it was written, they had not even met! 🙂 I appreciate the correction!

    There's no one like Phil Lynott, a legend who went too soon. Beautiful song from a gorgeous singer.

    IMHO, one of the most underrated, but one of the greatest bands of the rock era. I've always loved them.

    This is a phenomenal song from an outstanding album. The solos and Phil's vocal delivery is just first class. Do yourself a favour and listen to the version from Live and Dangerous. It'll change your life.

    HI Rob Squad. great choice of Thin Lizzy song,you should react to Phil Lynott's solo song Old Town,you should also try the band ultravox and their haunting classic Vienna.
