Buying a condo at peak rate at age 18 (I'm 40 now) with a ARM mortgage, not realizing what it meant. My dad had to come to my rescue. I sold it two years later, almost breaking even minus the interest. Ouch.
My biggest financial mistake was taking out a 34 year mortgage. I did that to get a lower monthly payment but over the years it cost me a fortune! Sadly I knew nothing about mortgages at the time and how much I was wasting in interest. Kids take out the shortest mortgage you can!
We use our loyalty card every time we check out, and earn fuel reward points that way. Don't get their credit card for fuel discounts unless you need a credit card and are very disciplined about paying off the entire balance every month!
My money mistakes was going on vacation twice while trying to have a fully funded emergency fund, lucky with this corona virus we are debt free and almost hit our emergency fund goal then on to tackle our mortgage, thanks to you guys and all the other financial gurus for guidance, much love and blessings from New Zealand ❤️🙏

Back during the Priceline days. I paid for a week's hotel stay for our vacation, going for the 4 stars they had available. Never telling my husband, not realizing he had points for a FREE week vacation stay with his company card points. We drove by the super nice hotel I paid for sight unseen. I cringed, So I was out over 500.00 my hubby still doesn't know!
My biggest financial mistake was taking out more student loans when I could have easily picked up a few extra hours at work to help pay for college. I graduated thirty-three thousand dollars in the hole. Proud to say that after two and a half years, I have paid seventeen thousand back so far! Love you Steve and Annette!
If someone ever fictionalizes the Economides (weirdly appropriate name!) and predicts their future life, Ed O'Neill will have to play Steve. He looks a lot like Ed and he sounds even more like him!
I actually joined a gym and never stepped foot in the gym. Stupid, I know. My friend was desperate for us to join, so she was kind enough to bring the paperwork to me while I was at work, so I literally NEVER stepped in the door. Thank God it was only a year contract!
My biggest money mistake I made was going to this dentist for Invisalign! This dentist office was closed to my house. I heard great reviews online about the place. I went there and the dentist over charge me for an electric toothbrush and for Invisalign. I spent almost $3000 on my teeth and I didn't even start the Invisalign yet. I ended up going to other place for Invisalign. I found out I need metal braces because my teeth severely crooked. I am so happy that I got out of that dentist office!! If I would of stayed there I would of spent $10,000 or more on my teeth and still wouldn't get the results I wanted.
Wow! Allena - thanks for sharing. Glad that you got out of the dishonest dentists office and found someone who knew what they were doing! Keep smiling!
Marrying my ex-husband.
Judy - you're right - love and money go hand in hand. Sorry you had to experience that pain. Glad that you seem to be recovering and getting stronger.

We give someone 200$ for a dog , 15 years later we still don't have the dog.... I will never forget this one....
Ouch, that hurts. Time to move on. We're sure you're much smarter now!
I can't believe I missed this video when you released it!
Well you got it now!
What about the 3 cents off on Kroger gas if you use the store card something about the 3 cents off sounds like a scam?

I stopped to think of my worst, but sadly there are soooo many. Ironically, the one and only mistake we have avoided like the plague is a timeshare 🤣
Good for you!

Buying a brand new car that cost the same as my annual income.
Wow! Marissa - thanks for sharing. We bet that you'll NEVER do that again. That's a tough, but good lesson.
MoneySmartFamily Read your book 10+ years ago in the passenger seat of said car on a road trip. Changed my world view on money. 😊
@@homemakingwithmarissa Thanks for these kind words Marissa!
We paid off our 401k loan and one month later the bottom dropped out of our 401k
This sounds like a good move, so kudos!
But our 401k lost $45k in one month

We'll never whisper a word of it.
Getting a payout from a lawsuit and bought a new car, instead of putting on the mortgage. Luckily we paid off the house last year anyway.
Mary - thanks for sharing - those are tough decisions - cars are nice ...but paid off home are nicer. Glad you totally debt Free!!!! Way to Go!
