    There is a mistake in this tutorial video at (7:32): optimizing the twist for the optimal cl/cd should be set to 0 degrees. QBlade automaticaly detects at wich AoA the cl/cd is optimal and uses that AoA when this option is selected. Putting a number other than zero in the box behind it changes the AoA by that amount away from the ideal AoA. This is an option in case youre ideal cl/cd is at an AoA too close to the stall angle

    Thank you very much! It was kinda hard to find a tutorial about Qblade. Your tutorial video is very helpful for beginner to get a grasp on this software. :D Looking forward to your structural and flow analysis!

    Does qblade optimize the chord length automatically, or should this be done in a separate program using the outputs from qblade?

    • @write2sijovarghese
      @write2sijovarghese  5 лет назад +1

      Hello! Sadly it doesn’t optimise chord length. One suggestion would be to optimise and then model it using qblade for results. Optimisation is a tedious work though! I understand.

    Thank you very much for this instructive video.but would you please explain how you changed the chord in the first and second line .you changed them to lower chord, by which logical you have used ? once again thank you

      Thanks for the question! The reason being a requirement of stronger hub and have an equal force distribution throughout the span of the blade. Hope this answers the logic

    It is a great tutorial series! I just have a question for now, how can I save the DAT file? I'm using the Airfoil tools database but I do not know how to save the file in the format .DAT. Could anyone help me with this? Thank you all!

    • @write2sijovarghese
      @write2sijovarghese  4 года назад

      I hope you might have found the “source dat file “ as a link. Right click on that select “save target as” then you can save it as .dat in your drive. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for such a wonderful tutorial. I would like to know if we could import the 3d design to solidworks.

    • @write2sijovarghese
      @write2sijovarghese  6 лет назад

      Yes! The model can be exported in stl format and can be imported into solidwork with settings to import as surface and edit the stl

    • @sumanregmi2616
      @sumanregmi2616 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your reply. I realized that I can't edit the design obtained in stl format. Hence I tried to export the blade design as co-ordinates. While I tried to export it into solidworks, it shows the error as "at least two adjacent points are identical or too close". How should I proceed further?
      Thanks again.

  • @Adam-ow4rt

    but how can the twist be negative? I'm getting the same result and the Cp is not very good...

    • @write2sijovarghese
      @write2sijovarghese  5 лет назад

      Hello sir! If you are referring to the example that’s just for a demonstration of how this code can be utilised. The iteration on the geometric twist can be eased by choosing an optimised baseline haw turbine blade design.

    • @Cedricvw
      @Cedricvw 4 года назад

      You should optimise the twist for opt. cl/cd and fill in 0 degrees in the box (see my comment above) This will change the twist to the correct one

    if we want to study on hydrofoil and propeller, is it we can use this software too?

    • @write2sijovarghese
      @write2sijovarghese  5 лет назад +1

      Wonderful question sir, as far as qblade is concerned it deals only with Horizonal axis and vertical axis wind turbine propeller blades. For hydrofoils and aircraft/ship propellers you can use ansys/icem cfd, which has dynamic meshing options too. Where you can go for FSI, fluid structure interaction.

    How can I attain the dimensions to produce my blade in Solid Works?

    • @write2sijovarghese
      @write2sijovarghese  5 лет назад

      If I understood your query correctly ; after producing the blade in qblade you need to export it in stl which can be imported into solidworks and probably use the ruler to measure dimensions roughly . If you just need the dimensions to create the blade from scratch then the parameters should be calculated manually.
