Make a dye-sensitized solar cell using blackberry juice and other common or household materials. These small solar cells can produce more than a half-volt of electricity in an area the size of a quarter. This small electrochemical circuit is made from two small pieces of conductive glass acting as electrodes. One electrode is coated with paint and blackberry juice, the other is scribbled on with pencil lead. Sandwich them together with some electrolyte in between, and you’re ready to capture the sun’s power! A safe and fun experiment for ages 9 and up.
