#LosFrikis is set in 1991, when Cuba is living under an oppressive government ban on rock and roll and a renewed threat of the country plunging into an economic crisis. Punk rocker Paco (Héctor Medina) is in dire straits. Cold, hungry, and in fear of losing his freedom, Paco and his younger brother Gustavo (Eros de la Puente) and bandmates inject themselves with the HIV virus in order to be sent to a sanitarium where they have food, shelter, and can create music.
