- If your door handle won't open the sliding door from the outside, this may be the free fix for you. Remove the interior door cover and look to see if the pin in the door mech is missing. If so look inside the door for it and put it back into the mech to fix your door handle. Hope this video was of use to you.

Another person saved. Thanks for the video. Little pin has come out and stopped the handle working from the outside. Took a bit of wiggling but got it back in and all working now. Thanks again. 😃
When my handle stopped working this afternoon i envisaged having to strip the whole mechanism out and after seeing your video I went out and fixed the fault within 5 minutes. My pin was just hanging in the hole. You are a legend. Thank you so much for making this video.
I had the same issue where that metal pin had come unclipped and I couldn't open the door from the outside. After watching this I just clipped it back in and it works like new. Thanks so much :)

Absolute legend, a 10 second fix with lots of huffing and puffing with the door card, would have been a very expensive trip to VW without you 😄👋

Brilliant. I had to use touch of lubricant to get the pin to slide back in.
Thank you Happy Chappy for making the video, I couldn't find the lost pin but fixed mine using a 7cm long hex key. :-)

Mine too. there is another spring on the handle but it's almost impossible to get to without removing the whole mech.

Sorry buddy not sure on that.. It may be in the bottom of the door. I couldn't get my hands down there but a good magnet might get it.

Yes it was in the bottom of the door

I have a 2017 t6 and sliding door doesn't always unlock on the key. Seems worse now it's cold. Few attempts and it opens. Any help appreciated
It could possibly be your door contact. It's three or for contacts that stick out from the sliding door to the front. Try a cotton bud and some wd40 to clean them. The receiver part is indented in the bodywork clean both. Hope this helps 👍

@@benrobinson-tu6cw I had to take off the side door cover and basically reconstruct the whole door handle. The spring piece inside fell out.
