Yeah, I lost all sympathy for Richard when he started accusing Anna... "How COULD you?!" And that b*tch Vivien, accusing OWEN of breaking up the marriage! Those two have their priorities messed up.

Wonderful series, Phenomenal actors, exquisite story! Do yourself a favor and look for Robson & Jerome singing Unchained Melody, I believe & other wonderful songs on RUclips. They're Awesome!
I hated the intro " semi-country " twangy guitar on Parts 1 & Two....I mean, Why? But it slowly got better. Thank heavens. (Are the producers trying to appeal to a wider audience....perchance?)
How could a sane man (and supposedly intelligent physician) confess his extramarital affair with another woman to his wife on the phone, without being sure if the wife knows for sure that he IS committing adultery? And if the wife had a thread of love for the husband, she'd not immediately jump into bed with a younger man. This is too absurd for words! And the Brits had the nerve to look down on Hollywood movies!!!
Sorry, Ben Wang...He knew 100% he'd been caught out. BUT...Not by the wife. What bit did you not get? Too subtle for you? You are missing the point entirely: This is a dram-comedy.... Not meant to be a 100% serious observation. By now...in Hollywood...several car chases would have ensued... at least one shoot-out... and the S.W.A.T. team would have been on the move many times....all lights and horns a-blaring.... The C.S.I. Squad cracking the case with a toothpick in the lab.... (Not to mention an explosion or two).....Yawn....Zzzzzzzz If you can't see the "subtle" differences..... I would suggest you stick with Hollywood. You seem comfortable there.
In reality, a surgical resident works over 80 hours a week, hard to imagine that they have any time left for romance. He is acting like a spoiled brat that wants his way or else, very unpredictable.
Gerald Swain Apparently “being watched” is the closest you’ve ever aspired to the real thing prior to being incarcerated and forever thereafter renowned by your former neighbors as “That Neighborhood Pervert.” “Woof woof” barked the other neighborhood dog-the four legged one-who was instrumental in leading to your arrest, subsequent incarceration and lifetime “enrollment” on the Sex Offender Registry due to your repeat offender (and offensive) status.
LOL! Masterpiece Theatre had to break British dramas down for American audiences--to translate them for us dumb Americans. It is pretty ridiculous looking at that lead in now!
My dear “fluffyfour,” It is indeed unfortunate that such an august and highly respected program such as Masterpiece Theater which remains-even this many decades later-one of the most highly acclaimed programs ever presented somehow managed to escape your discerning taste and adroit intellectual prowess. That “elderly man” is equally as highly respected as the program itself. Please refrain from sharing any more of your inane “inquiries” least you embarrass yourself further. Thank you.
@@leavingitblank9363 It was american style twangy music that was totally out of context with location or the characters. There are some aficionados in the UK, I do not doubt...... But it was all wrong here.
@@patagualianmostly7437 If it's the background music, I think what you're referring to is the slide guitar. It's too bad you associate that so strongly with "American" (U.S. only?) music. It's especially ironic considering this work. Not only was the series written and produced entirely by British entities, but the two musical directors are both English; one was a member of Dire Straits (which is probably where he picked up the sound -- Mark Knopfler is a very distinctive slide player.) It's moody, not American.
I think that neither Anna nor Springer knew what they wanted, They both behaved immaturely and irresponsibly. The best character in the series is Springer's Dad. Also, Anna's husband, despite his adultrous affair, is still an ok guy, a human who erred but wanted to redeem himself. Anna actually does not deserve him. In fact, I find her and Springer quite annoying and I stopped watching this half way through the second part.
Then, Vesna....that is your loss. Adultery is never attractive. For ANY of the participants. It always ends in pain and sorrow. But.... all adults...Educated, immature, irresponsible, uneducated, or otherwise.... indulge in it. On a regular basis. It's what people do. Not good, as a whole. I'm clearly biased because I'm only watching for Robson. Everyone else is just huge meh, apart from the fact that I'm taking a liking to Danny. I like the reference to 'Lady Macbeth' in this, as Francesca Annis played her earlier in her career.
