I can‘t imagine TV Yellow being made for television appearances. Someone big enough for television back then wouldn‘t have played a junior model. As far as I know it is just a myth. Cool collection, though👍🏻

      They were never painted yellow.
Period. It’s a clear coat thing guys. It yellowed.
      TV Model.
Why the name; we don’t 100% know.
But, these guitars were not yellow for the sake of showing up better on TV.
They BECAME yellow due to UV exposure and the clear coat going amber. It’s why all vintage binding, which is sprayed over with nitro, is yellow. It’s why super white wood like Limba (Korina) also went yellow/orange.
Fender was kicking ass and taking names with it’s Telecaster.
Tele…. As in TV… as in maybe Gibson just wanted to compete with a blond/light colored guitar with black guard format? Same reason the first NAMM shown Juniors (sunburst) got white guards at the show, likely to mimic tobacco burst tele’s of the time.
