I thought you'll show how to fix the old battery... Anyway, you confirmed my suspicion, that my battery is dead and couldn't be charged, and I need to get a new one. Thank you.
I mean if you buy a new battery it will fix it, so it kind of does. It's just not the free fix you were hoping for. Maybe it's bad wording, it's implied as fixing the drone and making it flyable again, not specifically fixing the battery. Also if people aren't seeing the same sequences then their battery may not be dead and they may have other options.
@@mavicprovideos1485 To update the firmware you need a good battery installed in Tello. But will try to revive the old one after the update when my new battery come.
@@naturewatcher7596 Didn't work for me no, but I have seen other people say it did. I have my doubts about the legitimacy of that. Seems odd that a firmware update would miraculously fix a battery. Worth a try though before getting rid of it.
Thank you. I will be honest, I haven't had to replace parts like that on mine. I think if you could buy the parts and do it yourself it might be feasible but to get it professionally repaired would very likely outweigh the cost of getting a new Tello drone.
Hi Steven , I bought new batteries but when I plug it in and try to charge it , no blue light. It looks like it does not go into charging mode. What must I do ?
So you get no lights at all, even with a new battery? Make sure it's an official battery and plug it in for a while and see if the lights start flashing. Try it from a mains plug if you are trying to charge it through a laptop etc, also you could swap out the cable as that may be the issue. Failing that, try getting a replacement for that battery you bought as it may be faulty. Failing all of that, it may be a bigger issue with your drone but hopefully one of those resolve the issue 🤞
I guess you will need some strong tweezers or pliers to pry it back out. I would use something soft around the battery so you don't damage it trying to remove it.
Mine have no light turning on whatsoever, even when I charge it the tello light doesnt turn on. I don't know if the battery is dead or is it the drone it self. I don't want to buy a new bettery just to know the drone it self already dead,
Thats not a good sign if it isn't coming on at all. Have you tried connecting it to the USB port on a laptop or desktop and straight in to an AC USB charging port?
@@r2artCH ah it's difficult to say for sure. I think you will have to try and borrow a battery from someone. Maybe try a new cable first, just to double check it's not that.
@@stevelitton haha...I don't know anyone else that have Tello. Is a dead end for me. It's okay...I didn't use that much either.... I haven't used it for quite a while as matter of fact. So maybe that's why is dead anyway, thx for trying to help
You wasted money on a new battery while there is nothing wrong with the old one. With time, the old one only lost all the charge. Since the charging circuit needs power to know how to charge the battery, when there is no power, it just got stuck and doesn't know what to do. In this situation, you only need to use a power supply to charge the battery by yourself. For example, I found there are 4 connections on the battery: the one on the edge is negative and the one on the other end is positive. So I connected a power supply to those and started charging with about 0.2 A. The final voltage is about 6V after 30 min. I then put the battery back into the Tello and continued charging without any problem. Wait until it finishes and now everything is back to normal.
I mean it's only £20 for a new battery and some people might not have the things they need to bring it back to life. There is also no guarantee they could bring it back and get it working again. But thats good to hear that you managed to do that and could be a viable option for some people 👍
This covers not only this battery, it will work on all "smart batteries" on the market today. I think it's either a design flaw or on purpose (to get more money from you) when batteries need themselves to power up themselves to communicate before they can be charged. It's like requiring all people to go to emergency rooms by themselves when they need it. @@stevelitton
Interesting, thanks for sharing this. What exactly are you using to attach to those parts of the battery? Could you share a photo or some additional information on what you are using? I would be interested to give that a try next time I get a dead battery on one of my other drones.
Thanks! This solution is the only thing that worked from all the things I tried. Just connected a 500mA 5V charger for 15 minutes with the positive and negative poles as you described. Now the battery is charging in the Tello and the 4 short 1 long pattern is finally gone.
😬 hope you managed to get it out without damaging anything. I didn't mention it in this video but my battery definitely had started to swell a little on the side where the sticker is.
It's a great little drone, a lot of fun to use. If you get a used one, just check there is no damage to the motors as they are not worth the cost of getting repaired.

Yeah, sorry it's generally not what people want to hear but if you have left the battery sat around for a long time then it's the most likely answer.

What does a solid blue light mean?
Solid blue on the Tello drone means the battery is charged.
@@stevelitton thank you so much!

If its flashing dark blue does it mean ist chartsing?
It's a bit confusing, a slow blinking blue light means 'charging' and a fast blinking blue light means 'charging error'.
