Man I love this film, cuts straight to the core, no bullshit, a flawed man with insane ability, learning to cope with his mortality and demons, and little by little, understanding his sickness, the last 10 mins of this movie are so real, almost too real, kudos to Bob Zemeckis
Love this scene, because as an addict when you decide to throw it all away or pour it down the drain, you genuinely get high off of it. The thought in your head of making the decision and making the change is a good feeling and at that time you actually believe that you are done, and it won't come back again. Then the next day comes, and the cycle of addiction sets in when all of your dopamine and serotonin is depleted when you try to just sit down and relax. THAT is when it hits you. Thats when every cell in your body is begging you to injest that one thing that you depend on to feel good. The film depicts it all perfectly.
Just got a DUI. Felt like a piece of shit for a few days and promised myself I’d never drink again. Cravings are already coming back, I’m still sober and understand I have a disease that needs to be stopped and can’t be cured by it’s cause.
The saddest part about this scene, is what happens shortly after; He goes back to drinking again. I know what that is like; To have a sudden urge to stay sober forever immediately following a traumatic event, only to relapse when the fear of consequences are gone and all you want to do is get drunk again.

I was really bad into alcohol after the Army. I was drinking fifths of Absolut straight from the bottle. I never could have 1 or 2 and quit, I'd always keep going until I blacked out. Some of us just have this internal anxiety that alcohol gives a temporary quiet to the narrative always going on in our heads.
