Hi Byron, thank you for the wonderful videos. I learn a lot from you. Have you ever tried growing Medinilla or Schlubegera or staghorn ferns (like I mean non-orchid epiphytes) on mounts instead of pots? Would love to know. :)
This was the response from Byron: We generally don’t grow Medinilla or Schlumbergia on mounts. I can be done and obviously if the moisture and nutrient needs are met they will thrive. Containers make the watering a little easier and in an indoor situation an lot easier. The Platycerium we do grow mounted as they have a vertical nature that brings out the best in their form. :)
Hi, i did have a question what are those clear like beads nodules that seem to be scattered throughout on top and under the plant leaves. Similarly you find it as well on a black pepper plant. Is this healthy or something i should be concerned about. Any insight would be helpful. Great video!
Unfortunately, we do not currently have the red variety of this plant available, however, we do have one that is similar with a pink bloom. You can find it here www.logees.com/showy-medinilla-medinilla-magnifica.html

The beads are just exudate. Not harmful to the plants. You can find more information about it in our article: www.logees.com/identifyingharmlessmolds

How do you propagate these plants? I'm assuming through seed🧐
Cuttings are usually the easiest method for propagation.
Thank you!

I think they are available in India as well. I got Medinilla magnifica (another species) from a plant grower in Kerala. I can ask him if you wish. :)
@@bikramadittya did you have success in growing this plant. What medium you have used. I just got one from a flower show. Scared to repot.
