The top plate can be mounted to the camera using the hot shoe for a two point camera mounting system. Attach both camera mount and top cheese plate first. Don't tighten yet. Then line them up and insert the vertical tube. This will reduce camera spin.
That’s a good question. They have some universal handles, but honestly you want to buy the ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ handle depending on your needs if you’ll be holding it for long periods of time. I’ve been in the field with only the right side and had to flip to the left but it wasn’t very comfortable.
When I got mine it was already pre-assembled halfway and none of the washers were in I don’t think you really need them and for the camera you have there is a shorter one would be good it work good on my Canon T3i The for my 60 D I had to use the bigger one then I can use it on my Lumix G7 and I had to use the smaller one on that one too I also got me some extra cold shoe mounts from small rig those work perfect for this camera cage I know some people like putting the handle on backwards but I put it on the other way unless I’m going to use a monitor and Mic also you forgot to slide on Do the shoe adapter on the top of your camera before you put the handle on that was one of my mistakes at the slide it in and then tighten it a little bit
Hi, Is there the ability under the rigs top plate to slides another "flanged connector" (?) into your camera's hot shoe mount for an added connection point for strength / structure? If so, does such a "flanged connector" come with the rig? Thanks
Random question, but if i wanted to put the whole thing together backwards (so the wood grips would be on my left hand), is it possible? Like would the threading on the aluminum body allow it? Just since I use a 7D most of my ISO and aperture I adjust with my right hand and would need it free.
What do you think of the build quality? I'm looking into camvate as an alternative to smallrig. It kills me just how inflated the market for camera gear is.
+hocadidilyocutt The quality is definitely solid. I would definitely give it a try before laying out all the cash to see how it works for you. I've recently bought another rig specifically for my 5dmiii and will be posting that video soon.
Thank you for the fast reply :) I ordered it for my AX100. If I understood the concept o this cage correctly, you can also tighten the top part into the hot-/cold-shoe - is that the case?
Martin, That’s a great question. It’s just a bottle opener that I had lying nearby. I could’ve used a coin or anything flat and small to fit in the groove.

Can you rig this to hold camera vertically?
Could you swap this around and put the handle on the left side if you wanted to?

picking this up right now, thank you.
You are supposed to lower the top and slide the cold shoe on your hot shoe
Dr.PaperAndTheJunkyardHatboys You are but I needed the camera for another project and was running out of time. LOL! (Good catch!)

I have a Fuji X-T4. Is this cage compatible?
I’m not sure about the Fuji. I’d recommend sending an email to Camvate.
Would you have preferred the left hand version, so you would be able to grip the camera from both ends?
What microphone is that?
it seems like you can switch it to the other hand if you wanted too, is that so
You can, but this grip is specifically made gore right hand use. It has special contour.
@@butchnewell thank you for responding, after I saw you vid I looked at it carefully and realized you can and I saw the contour.
nice. ordered a left handed one earlier today.
John Phillips #JeyDoeProductions you’re going to love it. These things are very versatile and a great value for the price.
Butch Newell sure is. Just SUBSCRIBED by the way
Is it possible to unscrew the hot shoe mount on top handle and move it to the very front of the handle instead of the back?
Yes, you can move it.
Butch Newell thank you for replying!

Shon Driscoll Yes it does. I had rigged it with the large side piece and when I used the small one it fit like a charm.
Thanks
Bro you are literally using the same setup as me with the T4i and 10 to 18!
Retron Studios it’s a great setup!

+Anthony Pegg Definitely. They actually make a left handed version. The grip is contoured for your thumb. Thanks for the question.
Would placing a quick release plate work on this cage? I have an a7iii and I would like a cage that I can remove quickly if I decide to take photos
Yes. It’s very adaptable to many setups.

Coolio; thanks for the quick reply
Hey there null,
can you tighten the top part lower on the "side rod" to accomidate samaller cameras?
NicMediaDesign yes
Thank you for the fast reply :) I ordered it for my AX100.
If I understood the concept o this cage correctly, you can also tighten the top part into the hot-/cold-shoe - is that the case?
NicMediaDesign yes. It lets you lock the camera in solid.
Thanks again - I noticed you didn't do it in this video while it was definetly made for the images on the store page, so I was confused.
NicMediaDesign Yes, I had a lot going on shooting that video and forgot to do that. But it definitely does.
6:02 - What's that tool you're using to tighten the screw mount please?
Martin, That’s a great question. It’s just a bottle opener that I had lying nearby. I could’ve used a coin or anything flat and small to fit in the groove.
Looks realty useful... does it say: Holie on it?
Martin It actually said Hobie. Here is a link to one like it:

Hi. Can you put a batery grip on it?
Manuel Grabuz You would need a longer vertical post to attach the handle to.
Butch Newell ok, thanks
hey man would this cage support a canon 80d?
Hey man thank you for the video,
Can this be mounted to a tripod?
+Open Season Thanks for the comment. Yes, it has multiple mounts on the bottom to allow it to easily mount to a tripod.
Butch Newell great I just bought it. You got new a sub here!
Hey man, would it fit a t3i with a battery grip?anyway, nice video..
+Pure Garbage I wish I had a t3i to test for you. Not sure if it would or not.
Its ok, Thanks btw.
Hello +Pure Garbage. I have the same question. do you now the answer now?
Can't you connect the native horseshue of the camera to the rig? O_o
+tar4c Yes
can this cage fit a 5D mark II?
+Robert John Mayuga I can't say, because I don't have a 5d mii to test out.
