@@50Steaks68 I worked with the best oral surgeons in the country… their work is published and clinical results are top-tier.. even in robotic procedures.. much different question being asked here.. I was commenting on his personality which is unlike most dentists and it’s great 👍

Used to be a company called Custom Nail Designs. They would send you dental putty in the mail and you take molds of your nails. Then they make polymer nails and send them to you. They fit your nail beds perfectly and were endlessly reusable. Wish they still were around.

It’s funny because acrylic nails started out with a dentist after he broke a nail of his in his office and used porcelain fillings to repair it, from there they refined it and we got acrylics LOL
I’ve got composite bonding in my teeth and it’s literally like acrylics for your teeth makes their shape straighter without having to use veneers

I remember when I was a kid, thanks to a local dentist, "tattoos" on your retainer were all the rage. My friend had a transparent plastic one with a cat "tattooed" on it. I thought it was the most stylish thing ever.

My orthodontist gave me a spring aligner after I lost my retainer. The lab made it wrong, and it made my teeth worse. I had to get braces for a second time. At least he only charged my grandparents for the hardware. So, long story short I ended up with two sets of braces from the age of eight to seventeen. Yeah, my teeth were really screwed up thanks to my mother's genetics, and it took ten years, two sets of braces, two sets of both removable and permanent retainers, multiple thousands of dollars, and two maxillofacial surgeries to correct. Twenty years and a lot of pain later, my teeth are still the main compliment I receive.

@@urmomsdesigner1651 I had jaw surgery my junior year of high school. Just the upper, but it wasn’t awful for me personally. Go into it with a good mindset and get something that can really really purée foods. Protein shakes are not the best tasting thing in the world but they’re really useful too

That happens to me!! My upper retainer was needing a setting and my doctor never had the tool for it. I didn't use my retainer anymore because I was very scared to shocking and now I need to have need retainers or braces again.

I wish I would have never took my braces off 😫 My teeth were straight when I took them off, but now I understand more of what the contraptions were for by watching The Bentist. My bottom teeth got a bit crooked after. Then having my wisdom teeth pulled, my teeth started spacing out in certain places over the years I think. Or a few spaced a bit because I didn't at least have a retainer. I was in 10th grade science class & just began popping the brackets off, then got home & used some literal tools to assist! I was 15 or 16, and I was a brat. I'm 37 now & am definitely thinking about getting braces again.

That reaction to her breaking the retainer? Priceless. Anyway. I used to have a plain one; then an expanding one, even one torturous one that "held my tongue in" with this metal "frame" in front. Whoever came up with that one? Yeah. I had them all, even brackets after that. But... All so worth it. I am 52 with straight teeth that are all my own and only had to have one root canal done on a molar so far (no crown, just great fillings). I think I'm very lucky if I see what others often have to go through. You lot with braces right now? It's all worth it and will be awesome in the end, stick with it!!!

I used to have a expanding retainer and it SUCKED, every night for 6 week you had to take a screw driver, shove it up your mouth and screw the retainer, after those 6 week of pain you had to wait about a year with it in your mouth, and food would always get stuck at the top of the expanding retainer. Once the 2 years was done ( I got extra years cuz my teeth suck) the docter took the expanding retainer out and 3 teeth came out with it ( baby teeth, and this all happened when I was a child ) , once the retainer came out I could finally touch the top of my mouth again, it felt so weird and it was pretty satisfying seeing the retainer.
5/10 would not want to go through again

I have routiners but they are molds of my teeth and I can't eat ANYTHING with them on.
I’m so retroactively disappointed in my orthodontist. I went in after two years of braces to get my retainer and it didn’t fit properly, a wire poked directly into my gum. I told them and they said I would have to pay for a replacement. I could not, as a 15 year old, walk into the waiting room and tell my recently widowed mother that she would have to pay for another retainer. So I didn’t. And I never wore the retainer. I’m sure my teeth are not as straight as they could have been because of it.
