    Jason: this series is really helping me put it altogether in addressing therapy issues for my 96 year old Mother. Started with a mouth open air leak using nasal pillows on a Resmed 10 Aircurve vauto, therapist suggested a chin strap but did nothing no prescription, I didn't wait for insurance and bought an f20 full face mask, then bought the foam face mask, bought a chin strap, used the iphone resmed myair software for daily scoring, obtained OSCAR and read it daily and make adjustments, started April 22, have made huge progress mostly because of your videos. Still couldn't get the big picture until this series of videos from you. Just got Somnifix mouth tape as backup in case the nose gets red from face mask rub and need to revert to nasal pillows. Learned to clean gear from your video too. OSCAR says last year had an "average leaks rate of 40%, % of time above the leak rate threshhold 65%", A.H.I. has gone down from 10 to 5. Thanks to you my Mother is no longer a Zombie.

      I'm really happy to hear that! That was the point of doing this. It gives people a framework to build on instead of just piece-mealing the information together with random videos all over the place.

    I do mouth taping along with my CPAP and during the day I concentrate on breathing down into my lungs with slow breaths. I used to be a shallow chest breather and now my sleep quality is greatly improved.

    I realize this is a 2 year old video but I just started on CPAP in January so it is very helpful. Many of the subjects covered have been things I learned the hard way by this point. I finally got a mask that fits me, and my pressures adjusted so I can actually sleep, as well as treat my apena. I was just about to give up and stumbled across your channel! Thank- you for all your help!! You are awesome!

    I had my resmed on 4-20 for about 2 and a half weeks and just tracked my mean pressure on Oscar each day and then settled on 7.6 as a static pressure. My API is about 0.4 each night now and I'm not getting the mask leaks. I was fitting my mask to a pressure of 4 and then as it ramped up and hit 13-20 the increase in pressure caused leaks. I've not had those since choosing a static pressure and fitting my mask to that at the beginning. It's really helped my 💤

    Thank you for this video. Very informative. Just started CPAP, therefore need a little time. The point of slow ramp up answered my question. I felt like I was rebreathing, then the machine kicks up. I'll closely monitor that. Twice I woke during the night with the pressure blowing so much the full face mask was leaking all over.

    Hey man, I started using CPAP two weeks ago. The first week was hell because I had a very hard time exhaling. Some due to the pressure (8-18) and some because I have fairly severe sinus/allergy problems and was only using a nasal mask. I didn’t know EPH was even a thing. One of my co-workers suggested one of your videos on EPH after still having problems with a full mask. This was the difference between me giving up on CPAP...so thank you.

    I'm having an issue with breathlessness in the morning. I just started CPAP this week with the Dreamstation. The first 3 nights went pretty well considering I'm new to it. The 4th night I ended up waking up, after about 4 hours, and taking the mask off because I felt like I couldn't inhale to my full capacity. It made me very anxious. Well it happened again this morning. It's also coupled up with a stuffy nose, but not from mucus. Just like it's sort of swollen up a bit on the inside. I'm not sure what I should do.

    Jason, I’ve watched and subscribed to your RUclips channel, my question is I was put on a bipap/avap/st. three days ago after being on cpap 15 years and a recent sleep study showed complex central apnea, my pressure is 14/9/12
    and I’m really struggling to get to sleep , maybe an hour a night! I’m at wits end! Any suggestions would be appreciated, and FYI your channel is great! 👍

    I have been using a crap machine since 2006. I currently use the ResMed 10a with a full face mask. I have found a pressure of 20 is too high, the mask leaks and wakes me up. I get along with a setting of 5 to 15. I kept having a problem with my mouth opening and having a high event count. I purchased a Dr Dacota under jaw cushion. It made a big difference until the strap going around the back of my neck was no longer tight. The cushion was no longer somewhat tight against my throat and my event count which had been under 5 was now as high as the high teens. I modified the strap so it was again against my throat and my event count dropped back down to under 5. Everyday I download the nights information but it doesn’t tell me the pressures it used. I sleep only on my back. I am sharing this information in case it can help someone. I have tried the chin straps but didn’t like them.

    Thanks for info. How does one add a memory card to a RESMED Airsense10? Does that require using the clinical menu? My provider did not install a card as they felt the cellular connection was good enough for them to receive data (which they do not share with me).

    • @Freecpapadvice
      @Freecpapadvice  4 года назад +3

      All you need is an SD card. Pretty cheap. On the left hand side (looking at machine from front) there is a tab that says “SD” in blue. Pull that tab to expose the slot. It should format the card automatically.

    • @UUBrahman
      @UUBrahman 4 года назад +2

      My Mother did not know her Resmed 10 had a SD card either. Look at the resmed website for an owner's manual and look at the diagram. Our SD card has a "resmed" label so unless someone took your card, it is probably there. Download OSCAR at cpapboard.com, pay attention to "locked" setting on the SD card when using OSCAR.

    • @monicaperez2843
      @monicaperez2843 3 года назад

      Mike, ask your sleep doctor. If they don't give you a satisfactory answer, ask for a second opinion. A respiratory therapist may also know. If you still can't get a good answer, ask an allergy doctor. Chronic itching can be a sign of contact dermatitis, an allergy to the materials in the mask that touches the skin.

    My ResMed 10 has a stuck water reservoir. I cannot get it out and my insurance will not pay for another one so I will make sure that do not break it. How the hell do I get this thing unstuck. I know for a fact nothing spilled in it. I have to drive truck and could not afford the energy that it took to run the humidifier. The company gave me a 12-volt deep cycle battery and it only lasted for hours without the reservoir. After a year of not using it it became stuck. 3 years later I still cannot get that damn Reservoir out.
