  • 01 Merge the two newly created surfaces
    Select 1st surface
    Select 2nd surface
With Ctrl key down, select an edge at the beginning or end of either surface
Continue selecting the adjacent surface edges until the two are completely merged
*In R23, the user may use the shift key to propagate the selection and speed up the process

Hello, i really like the tutorial you made and follow every step in this video, but i always failed to merged two sub surfaces. Can you give some tips and clearly explain how to merge that two sub surfaces?

Hi, I can not use the command. When I click merge and select the two surfaces, one of the two disappears. If I confirm, it gives me the error.
How can I freely select the various edges?
    I have catia R19.

Hello good day. Can you help if you are using Catia V6 R2009? Thank you for your interest. How do you save files? Do you use v6 connected to the internet? Or using it without connecting to the internet?
I want to save the files without connecting to the internet. I tried a little, but I couldn't.
Finally, I cannot add material to pieces. For example, I can't add metal, glass, plastic ... to the part. How do you add things?
    Thanks again.

Hello Jose, I learned by watching youTube, referring to the Help Documentation and trial and error. I hope this guide will give you a good foundation.

hello Gerard, I'm a student.I failed to merge all the time with catia v5r20,is this version ok?

    • @GerardAlcini
      @GerardAlcini  6 лет назад

Hello Huang, I no longer have that version so I cannot say for sure. Since you are a student, you should take advantage of Dassault Systeme's student CATIA offering for only $99 USD! Then you will have the latest version to take advantage of all the enhancements since R20 which is about 8 years old. Go to this link: academy.3ds.com/en/software/catia-v5-student-edition

Jose, there are training courses available through Dassault and its partners but this guide is designed for self training if formalized training is not an option for you. Follow this guide and I believe you will be well on your way- making many other discoveries for yourself.

Hello Katimon...depending on the release you are using, the command may have different options, but it will certainly perform the merge. Your best bet is to refer to the documentation (assuming it is installed). Go into the Merge command and hit your F1 Key. This will pull up a guide to walk you through the options.
