Actually my favorite mode to drive in is Drift. The car seems like it corners so much better than any other mode.
I picked up my MK8 R performance 2 weeks ago. Ordered it almost 2 years ago on the same price so my monthly is sub £350 (ordered through drive the deal so got a significant discount). Gleaming car, perfect all rounder. Turn off lane assist, press button on end of indicator stalk, press okay on steering wheel and it’s off, literally takes 2 seconds👌🏻

I’ve got a 20 year edition, one of the first and I managed to get an order in a few minutes before the deadline, I will have the last fully spec car around May/June next year

What would you rather have a brand new golf r or a brand new Honda civic type r just being curious on your thoughts Sam
I would go with the Golf R but I have not yet tried the new Civic Type R myself. I imagine it would be more focused in driving but less of a daily compared to a Golf R from my overview. Both similar money also. I would love to try one for sure though 👍
I would definitely look forward to you reviewing a civic type r if you could get hold of one just to see what you thought in comparison to a golf r thanks Sam
Back in August I rang my vw dealer to ask about when the r20 would be available for order. They said at the end of september they would give me a call back to order. That call never came😂 So I ordered a new rs3 saloon instead which arrived in november.
Just over a month ago I see an r20 at the dealership. One of the service team goes to my gym and told me it’s a car being driven by one of the sales execs🤣🤣 Nice treat for them. So much for customer service lol.
Glad I got the rs3.

Nothing wrong with it, in fact it’s great, are you sure you’ve tested it ?
@Geronimooo I wouldn't test myself, personally not a fan of tactile buttons on the steering wheel, and yeah the pricetag is nuts.
But hey I dont have this kind of money! And certainly would not finance it 😂 even If i could afford it

Thanks Tish! Very full on during the day and I was focused on networking as well. Really enjoyed it and I enjoyed watching your one in the rain....you have to work with what you have at the time and do what you can. That's all we can do🙂

I gave up on vw all these "special editions" that aren't special. Buddy has 20y version, and we couldn't really notice any difference with my old perf pack mk8 R everything the same.. exhaust Akrapovic same..
Seeing now they have the 333 edition which is a 20y with different decals 😅
Calling now they will have a "final edition" in 8.5 guise

I'm just not impressed by the interior at all, just looks cheap, more like a Hyundai than a VW, VAG just seems to be cost cutting.. It's like 5 years behind something like an A35 and that interior. I much prefer the R 7.5 to the 8.
Hyundai interiors are actually better quality the VW now.
@@jryalls Totally agree and at a lower price point. The new R, S3 you can just see the cost cutting whereas their cheaper competitors are closing the gap and the likes of Mercedes accelerating away.
Leather on the 20 year this is standard exhaust is an option
Ah that is great leather is standard. They had a white 20 years there with the blue wheels too which had the standard exhaust. The akrapovic looks and sounds great but it is an expensive option for sure.
Would've loved to have ordered a 20 years, but it was already too late as I have my MK8 R PP arriving 8th June. Waited just under a year and half. Already booked it in for Racingline stage 1.
Should of switched everything off, first thing I do in my 20 year, makes all the difference

Got a standard one on Friday and I love it, I had to take a cancellation cos the earliest you will get a factory order is end of 2023, so probably 2024. I twas originally given october 2023 on my order, but yeah all sadly been knocked back! I had to take white but Im happy with it. Get one if you can but specking one up to full fat you are in A45 money!

I live in the northwest i have 2 mk8 golfs R both with performance pack in different specs i have had mk7 R and 7.5R if you ever want to make a video with the mk8 let me know, and any questions im happy to help as i know alot about the golfs

Golfs are renowned for fairly num steering

I took it up to 100mph so had a good feel at high speed.

Looks cheap and them little side windows on each side of the dash remind me of a citroen people carrier thing
It felt quite high quality to me. Personally I did not find the car to be cheap it felts premium from my experience with it.
Owned one, cheap compared to bmw or merc for sure. My mk8 R after like 12k km had lots of cheap plastic buzzing vibrating dash noises 😕 really disappointed me, my 2019 polo gti didn't have any of that
Those side windows are on MK7 and I think 6 too
