Bodes well with Lovecraftian horror. You don't know what you're seeing, you can't describe it, your mind doesn't accept it and you go mad. If you've got a 50 cal, you erase it from reality.
It's very reminiscent of War of The Worlds. The alien entities may be beyond our comprehension, but that doesn't mean they're not gonna get a gun in their face.
Resemble a scene from The Incredible Hulk, where the soldiers in humvee try to pedal away from Abomination chasing after them (but they get caught up unlike here)

Watching the war of the worlds movie as a kid (one with Tom Cruise) and the scene where the army is fighting agaisnt them always made yearn for a Battlefield/Arma type game where you and a military grounded in todays military (as opposed to sci fi space marines) fight off against an unknown global threat
Hollywood really missing out on it as well, in almost every apocalypse ever the military is wiped out with minimal explanation. Sure they might lose huge chunks of the planet, but safe areas woud be established against anything except aliens.
X-Com and its various children are close! You don't know what hostiles to expect unless you look up a guide, and your gear starts mundane and is eventually enhanced with jury-rigged alien tech.
At the end of the day though, a living being taking that many .50 bullets and other bullets before dying would be nothing short of completely horrifying.

This reminds me of the novel/manga Gate JSDF (basically good modern army vs evil medieval fantasy empire). One of the evil empire's countermeasures against the modern army is to use Armoured Ogres with 20 cm thick slabs. The armor made it impervious to even 50 caliber bullets, but when a soldier used a panserpaust the orges dies in one shot and anything with a bigger boom kills it even quicker.

Can a tank take a constant barrage of 25mm HE and destroy a bradley while throwing it at a nearby infantry? I don't think so, if you never actually play the game and never see this thing in action, you probably won't know much about it lol
