- Ayaneo just announced a bunch of new products and besides the great looking Ayaneo Pocket DMG they also announced a new OCuLink eGPU dock and a retro inspired mini AMD Ryzen 8000 powered mini PC.
The AG01 starship graphics dock has OCulink USB4 and an Amd Radeon RX 7600M XT.

Aya goes 99% of the way with a good product and at the last second left turn into a wall. Such a missed opportunity not shipping with the oculink port.
Honestly, at this point just wait for USB/TB5 for the extra bandwidth.
If this had a oculink port, it would’ve been a purchase for me.
Am I the only one who watched this and thought this would be a great combo as a HTPC you keep next to the TV?

yes, I am excited for the egpu I have been wanting one for a while now.
The AM01S reminds me of a printer when the screen's up.
It's also really close to being a digital only Gamecube with those controller ports at the front, and being as tall and square as it is.
I wish they would realise one, that you can change the graphics card out on, with oculink and also thunderbolt 4
I'm leaning towards a handheld with eGPU setup for my next pc.
I just listened to someone ramble on as to "Why would you do that, just buy a laptop"
First I'm pretty destructive to laptops so I buy sub $300 laptops
I remote into my desktop and work that way.
But if I bought a hand held and can use it to game which I can't do over remote desktop.
Just have a throw away laptop dock connected to the handled when I'm away from the desk and use the eGPU when I'm at the desk.
Give us more eGPUs. Handheld+eGPU is the future for me

its been a while that all ryzen i see on handheld have a 780m as the GPU part of the apu. I know upgrading the cpu part does increases performance, but when will we get a better gpu on those amd apu?
These GPU docks need to start being upgradable.
RX 7600M XT is 1080p ultra card? I have a regular desktop RX 7600 and I play on medium or high without FSR depending on game 💀

So basically, this mini pc performs better than my desktop that's almost up to my knee tall???? (5'10 1/2) The power these apus can put out really rivals "top tier" desktops
It doesn't come close to a high end PC... They're the creme de la creme of iGPUs but don't oversell it. A mini ITX system with an RX 6400 or 3050/4060LP will run circles around it. A poorly slapped together tower setup with room for larger cards is just going to widen the gap.
The cost needs to come down on the EGPUs to make them compelling

Even with Oculink, the data transfer rate will be too low to take full advantage of the higher end GPUs.
10% less aprox, tha´s not a rlly problem at all ( i have the x1 with the onexgpu ) and it works rlly rlly well and powerfull.
With the screen up it looks like a photo printer
Can somebody please make a barebones OCcuLink dock that simply has a x16 slot and a place to put a PSU? I'm fine if it's not even an enclosure; just a base to mount everything on with a rear panel to support the gpu that also has an OCcuLink connector and power connector (to pass through to the PSU).
I have a Sonnet Breakaway Box that's thunderbolt 3, and that with a smaller base and no enclosure (so any size GPU would fit) would be a perfect design for a basic OCcuLink dock.

I wish someone would take the fastest card and turn that into a Oculink card. I guess if you want that you'll diy a enclosure or buy one premade without a card and then add your own. It does look neat but if I'm going to have a external GPU it is going to be the fastest card I can get.

i mean USB4 is subset of Thunderbolt 4 right?
if something have Thunderbolt 4 then is obviously usb4 as well.

I wish they would make an open dock, something where a user can also put their own video card in it.
I know there are already solutions that exist, but they're the size of a mini-pc and not elegant like this stuff.
Someone needs to make the screen on the mini-PC say "PC LOAD LETTER".
That dock does look great. Too bad the Steam Deck doesn't have an OCuLink port or an extra M.2 slot to add an adapter. If that mini PC has an extra M.2 slot it shouldn't be hard to give it an OCuLink port. I agree it'd be nice if it was integrated though.
That design is pretty sweet but there's barely any dock functionality with 1 USB port. Cutting down on the video out or switching 2 to USB C would have been better if that meant more USB in general.
I wish it worked for Legion Go, or RoG Ally.
Anybody know the prices ? Looks like those will be too expensive compared to a DYI dock + GPU and I the MiniPC while looking cool won't have a competitive price ...

For the love of god someone make a 12 or 16GB eGPU dock like this and I’ll buy it at 50% over the price of the desktop equivalent. I need the RAM I verifiably go over 8 constantly with the specific games I play and the stuttering is worse on eGPUs when that happens.
The 3D mock ups on their website are so bad. They randomly placed NES cartridges everywhere for no apparent reason other than vibes. lol

That 7600 xt should be under 200 bucks
A regular 7600 is over 250$ a 7600xt is over 320$. A mobile 7600 would be more. An gpu in a dock would need 50$ of trimmings on top of that including external power supply.

We all understand the limitations of mini PCs and eGPUs. What makes them desirable is the form factor and convenience. Unfortunately, that also comes with a higher price tag.
@@Gabilleta it's still too prohibited in the price tag, I understand that it's convenient but we are not there yet unfortunately, the lack of performance it's too much for the money they ask for this products
