- If you need a palate cleanser from the concrete jungle that is New York City, Fort Tryon is worth the visit into the most northern part of Upper Manhattan (accessible by the subway’s A train). Believe it or not, you can find 66 acres of greenery, a medieval atmosphere, flowers, and vistas in NYC. It truly is a hidden gem and one of the best kept secrets of New York City. And in this video, we are going to look at an overview of this hidden gem in the world’s most famous concrete jungle - Fort Tryon. We’ll also talk about The Met Cloisters, Linden Terrace, and other features of the park. Plus I’ll tell you a really eccentric story about one of the earlier owners of this land.

My favorite first dating place
I love the Met and have seen them mention the Cloisters here and there, but I never made the effort to go up there (I don't live in NYC, but travel there frequently). I will put it on my to do list. Thanks for the video!
It’s an amazing place
I went to school In this area, and I didn’t never ever acknowledge the fort Tryon park as an actual fort smh one of my regrets is not exploring it more as a historical site
I grew up in that area. ❤️
Grew up around Ft. Tryon, there's a few caves there. I found many Indian arrowheads which I still have. I left in 1989.
Beautiful park, nice to see some views from Upper Manhattan. Great video tour.
Thank you! I've been visiting parts of Upper Manhattan so I can put together a video overview of Upper Manhattan.
I love it there. It’s like you aren’t even in NYC
Thx for this info..I just watched Coognan's Bluff the movie and wanted to know more about the location...great job~
They also had a Medieval Festival at Ft. Tryon (pre-pandemic) with many vendors, displays, and exhibitions such as jousting and sword fighting Knights, etc.
Sounds like a great location for a Medieval Festival! Maybe they'll bring it back this summer.
@@UrbanCaffeine October 2022!
It just dawned on me that if I was to meet up with someone who wanted my time to be really fun and informative, it would be you. You have a special empathy about you that resonates with your viewers. Thanks for sharing your local knowledge from this side of the pond here in England (Brexitland 🇪🇺😂)
Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad I can share the sights of NY all the way over there!
Guilded...I Am dreaming
Another great video
Just don't go further south from here or your health will be at risk, uh-hum! That said, this is a gorgeous area of Manhattan/New York City. Deep and historical, rich with antiquity. A nicer day would be harder to spend any place else.
Your videos are awesome! So full of content and details! Congrats for the work! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like them. 😊
I once crossed this park at night - in attempt to make a shortcut from 190st subway to Broadway st. (down that hill). Oh boy... what a creepy place.
THank you! love your YT channel. informational and clear. :)
Also Mother Cabrini's mummified glass tomb right next to Fort Tryon
Love it!
Good job!
Amazing!!!
Love your videos. Hope to move there soon. :) Thanks very much for your hard work.
Thank you! It's a great time to move to New York. Things are opening up again and there are so many things to do in the summers.
Another excellent video-very informative with outstanding graphics to accompany your superb narration. The NYC tourist department should bring you on staff!
Haha, thank you for the compliment! 😊 And thank you again for watching.
Yes!
Thanks!
I appreciate it! 😊
Good to watch Thea's video again! Same week. I like how Thea says her name.
Do you watch ActionKid's channel? He does a lot of (livestream) walking tour videos,
His fav park is also Fort Tryon Park too!
Thanks for the tip to take the A train to one station and leave from another.
Yes, I've come across his channel. Lots of good stuff to see in New York. I used to think the C train stopped there too, but I guess normally the C only runs up to 168th, so it's only the A.
Wow, someplace i haven't been, but will be going on my next NYC trip, thanks for another great video, and the real you, rather than the cartoon you
If you go in the spring or fall, it's gorgeous up there. You're welcome and thank you for watching!
Its on fire now.
This is the highest natural spot in Manhattan. Xoxo
Hi amazing video! I have a quick question, is it safe over there? and also the subway stations are they safe that far north? Thank you. I'm planning to visit in March.
TBH I haven't been in that area for awhile so I can't really say. If you want to stay comfortable, you can go midday and not stay too late. I probably wouldn't stay past 5pm in March.
I really want to go there but it is too far from where I live 😭
Fort Tryon thus morning Feb 28,2023
Very informative but a little bit too much your face and not enough the park
The voice of the narrator is likened to several fingernails clawing a black chalkboard! 😫 Ugh!
Is it a CHILD NARRATOR??
