Absolutely. Hal's talk of the brothel is wonderfully poetic and has such great rhythm but focus is completely pulled by the comedy stripping. And the teeth lines are funny if they don't have a mile of space between them. Joe's text has been really dismissed by this blocking.

Orton always maintained that it shouldn't be played overtly for laughs, it should be performed dead straight and so the humour comes out in a different way. I was taken aback to see Truscott going off tangent with some Kenneth Williams in this production.
