Full tour mode! Seems to take an absolutely dialed-in bike to zone out that hard. Have had only a hand full of bikes of the hundred I've owned/ridden that can take you there... Agree with the fun level at 10 of 10. Nice!!
Thanks for recording this, Clint! I wish I was there myself. I rode San Felasco last winter with my 75 year old uncle when I visited him in Gainesville. We had a great time.
It made our day when you passed my son and me before lunch. Now I'm back in Wisconsin where it felt like twenty below on my walk this afternoon. I really enjoyed the trails in Felasco but really, really enjoyed Santos when we rode there.
So glad you had a good trip down here! Yes, Santos is pretty amazing. So much variety there. Pretty cold week here this week, but I can’t imagine how cold it is up there.
Super fun to watch this, my wife and I head to Santos next week (from NC)...looking forward to the similar trials there. Maybe try to catch this one next year!
I have to laugh. Here on LI we would love some temps in the 40's. It's been almost impossible to ride here this winter with wind chills in the teens. Anyway, thanks for the virtual ride Clint.
We’ve had highs in the 20’s here in PA the last couple weeks so keeping your hands and feet warm are paramount. We’ve had just enough snow to make XC riding fun but today we’re expecting 12” of snow 😔
Great video Clint! I’m curious, what do you look at to decipher what snack/food you can tolerate sugar wise for your rides to prevent sugar drop? I seem to have this same type of issue, thanks!
I eat pretty natural and as unprocessed as I possibly can, which is why I love making my own bread from wheatberries. On Sag stops, it’s usually just bananas. Sometimes if they have salty pretzels, I will have those too. Not a lot of choices for me at those stops. But I can do HEED, and this ride had that which was great.
Clint, are you going to ride the 8 hours of Labor this year? Due to some rotator cuff issues, I haven't been able to ride for a few years. But the 8 hours of Labor and Ride of the Living dead at Santos are 2 of my favorites.
8 Hours of Labor stopped quite few years ago. I watched someone have a heat stroke (I think) during the event. I suspect it ended because it’s just too hot for an endurance event, but don’t know for sure.
I did the ride and ate afterward. It works out if you leave early and are fast enough. I can't imagine eating that huge Pad Thai portion and riding again.
I got the Pad Thai at lunch...and it was such a massive portion I ate just a few bites, put the rest in my cooler and got back on trail. I couldn't imagine riding the 4th and 5th stages if I had eaten even half of it!
You definitely get adjusted to different temperatures. I remember cross country skiing in New Jersey when it was in single digits. Didn’t think anything of it. But one thing to keep in mind, Florida cold is a different kind of cold because of the humidity. I’ve been in Colorado with temperatures in the teens and been warmer than Florida at 50°.
Haha! So true. On a mtb ride, I don’t put toe warmers on till it gets below 26F. Right now it has to be about 26F or below to ride our trails in Niagara, otherwise it’s way to sloppy.
I love how calm you sound riding while it's still clear how much fun you're having. No yelling and whooping just peaceful enjoyment.
Just rode it today down from CanadaTung nut is awesome
I think you passed me on Cellon after lunch 🤘
Moving pretty fast for being full of food! 😂
Thanks for recording! Gives me a lot of joy to watch this during winter in Finland.

Thanks for the video Clint. Now I have a winter trip to plan for next year.

Nice. Going to be a cold week here ( but I know that’s relative).
Great perspective on the event. Love how you narrate while passing a gazillion people. Your “conversational pace” puts most of us to shame!
Nice ride. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks for the vid Clint! Definitely helped me get thru a boring trainer session w/ the rain & snow here in NJ
I remember those long winters in New Jersey!
I have to laugh. Here on LI we would love some temps in the 40's. It's been almost impossible to ride here this winter with wind chills in the teens. Anyway, thanks for the virtual ride Clint.
looked like a fun trail
Zone out? Yep, always freaks me out though.
That was a fun course this year. Felt like it was more climbing than last year. Sector 4 really took it out of me.
This looks like a lot of fun. Maybe next year I’ll try to make it. About a 3.5 hour drive for me
It’s worth it.
Hey Clint! Great video. You mentioned an endurance event to be held next month in the same area??? Can you link that event (details/etc...) Thanks
It’s actually March.

It's been quite a few years since I did TdF. I've done Ididaride in White Springs several times tho (a bit closer). Have you gone there?
Yes, I did the Ididaride one year and rode there once or twice. It was OK but not my favorite.

Wow
whats the event next month you mentioned?
It’s actually in March. But it’s on the same date as the Santos flat tire festival.

@ I ate the whole thing! I was OK other than getting cold again
@@ClintGibbs Clearly you were OK based on how fast you flew past my buddy and I at the 19:12 min mark on the back horse trails 🤣
Always funny when Floridians "suffer" when temps are in the 40s while the rest of the country deals with 20s.😅

@@ClintGibbs I has been getting more difficult for me to deal with the cold as I get older. This is my 55th Winter.
Sorry, it is mid 50s during the day here in California.😉
Yea, you stay home...😁
your son didnt want to do this ride?
He’s mainly into slope style right now
