If I had known that it was happening I would've had my planetarium fired up! I've got a 'poor man's' version of Starry Night called Stellarium, and it's totally awesome because I can not only view meteor showers, but I can track asteroids/comets in real time. I can get updates from Minor Planet Center over the internet.

Or, if you can get up there the observatory on Mauna Kea, or the PANNSTARS observatory on Maui. Both would have pristine sky conditions, considering the fact that they're both on top of volcanoes.

@Jacob Warren really ok. Well, let's say that you are planning to present a marketing campaign with graphic design. Explain to me how that "design" will come to be? Every design Must have a Designer. Eternity is an awful long time to be wrong. Our Saviour Jesus, proves Himself and His Word every day, just turn on the news. I say this all in love. How could we not look in to a baby's eyes or the night sky and not see God's Wonders? Nothing comes from nothing. Life is given, it does not suddenly appear. My Prayers and Love are with you, precious friend.

I used to see these 'shooting stars' when i was a kid back in my hometown. Life there was simple and peaceful and people rests early at night, a good time watch moonlight and stargazing with fewer lights. I miss that. Now I'm adult, I'm here in the city and wanted to witness this phenomenon on Oct 22, but alas i was working nightshift and couldn't even bother to go outside for a glimpse. Maybe next time.

Go to www.stellarium.org and download version 8.2, then set your location as the default location. After that, set it to locate the radiant of each meteor shower. I saw three shoot out from the radiant at the same time during the Draconids last year, at which time 21P Giacobinni-Zinner was making a close approach to Earth, so that really stirred that one up!

Imagine the cause of the meteors is from a far solar system being broken apart from its star

Millions of meteors occur in Earth's atmosphere daily. Most meteoroids that cause meteors are about the size of a grain of sand, i.e. they are usually millimeter-sized or smaller. [...] Meteors may occur in showers, which arise when Earth passes through a stream of debris left by a comet, or as "random" or "sporadic" meteors, not associated with a specific stream of space debris. Man...the Pleiades are absolutely gorgeous in this footage.
On an unrelated note, what are those stars that look like Orion’s dong? I’ve never seen those before, at least not in such detail...probably because I live in the city

Maybe you mean the constellation Lepus (rabbit). It is located below Orion.

EDIT: ahhhh, I see. It’s m42, m43 and a couple stars...Orion’s sword. M42, the closest region of massive star formation, located in Orion and I didn’t know about it....aye aye aye

saw a meteor early Saturday morning maybe sunday morning while walking my dog it was around 02:00 or 03:30 dark and hardly if any moon light, all of a sudden the night sky lit up I looked up saw the mountains behind the meteor, it turned into a bright blue flash followed by a very steady orange glow, then I saw the smoke trails and it spit into 2 trails. then a slight sonic boom broke the silence anyways pretty amazing stuff.
