    This house and the surrounding nature are magnificent. I think you are very lucky to have such a wonderful house and a big garden at such a young age. For a Turkish person from Izmir who hates the heat, your place seems like one of my dream cool places. I only know this house, I don't know your old house. I am writing this from an apartment in a hot city. Even if you are a summer person, buy a summer house with a garden, but even if you don't have a dog anymore, definitely don't buy an apartment. Because compared to houses with gardens, apartments are modern dungeons. I hope you will continue to produce videos with gardens and construction projects like this in this or another house for many years. Especially as someone who loves mountains, forests and winter, I would be very happy if there was a place similar to the geography here. Best regards.

    Hey Martina! , don't worry your house is turning out amazing, just wait for the bad day to go over and the sunshine will rise again 😁, maybe is the chimney problematic and it not sucks the smoke properly. A great solution is to insert a stainless steel round chimney inside all over up the existing (brick chimney) this will help the smoke to run better and more effective, without waiting for the chimney to warm up etc. Choose the same diameter like the joints you have on the fireplace. I have similar fireplace and works very nice😁 keep the good work 💪💪

    I am now 65 years old, and have renovated both appartements and houses in my lifetime. Sometimes we HAVE TO ask professionals for help, because it is impossible to be good in everything and every craft. Your fireplace is an excample of an object that needs a professional craftsman. No need to give up or quit just because you sometimes need to ask for help. Good luck from a VERY wintery Norway with at least 60 cm of snow.

My wife and I watch all your videos and always comment on how incredible you are, and all the different construction specialties that you have mastered by yourself. We admire you greatly because you are a great person with a beautiful personality and immense willpower. You give us strength. We applaud and love you!

    17:40 : I wouldn't worry too much about that cracked tile for now.
    Most likely it is caused by a little too little cement in one place. Pity, but it happens.
    Main issue is if the crack continues. Time will tell, but it seems unlikely to me.

    was your damper closed??? keep the door closed when lighting up. you want the fire to draft from the bottom.

  • @martinhorky8355
    @martinhorky8355 9 месяцев назад +8

    The problem is not with the fireplace stove but with the chimney. It doesn't have sufficient draft. It needs to be cleaned.

      @@MartinasLife
      Okay, if the chimney is cleaned, there are several reasons why it may not draw well:
      The chimney is cold - sometimes cold air from the roof falls down into the chimney, reversing the draft in the chimney into the room. The chimney has good draft only when it is heated. Sometimes, it's enough to burn newspapers in the fireplace to warm up the chimney, and only then start a fire with wood.
      Wet wood - it's best to buy a wood moisture meter and check it; it should be below 20%.
      Another option is to invite a chimney specialist - a Chimney Sweeper. Sometimes the chimney may be poorly designed or too short, which only this specialist can assess.
      Last year, my chimney gave me a lot of trouble, and in the summer, I had to install a stainless steel pipe from the basement to the roof. This year, heating is almost trouble-free.
      And thanks for the videos every weekend; I enjoy watching them.

    Hi Martinas, when you fix the leaks on your fireplace it's very important to get your log moisture content down to 20%or less is even better,if you burn the logs higher than 20% you will create that runny tar called creosote that could easily set your chimney on fire 🔥 and you don't want that.

  • @mfd70
    @mfd70 9 месяцев назад +2

    Hi Martina, You need to fit smoke detectors and a Carbon Monoxide alarm, leaking solid fuel heaters are just as dangerous as faulty gas or oil heaters. Also something like a small kitchen conflagration will trigger a smoke alarm so you can attend to it before any damage is done. Check your local building code to see if these need to be line powered and linked up.

  • @travelinaway2707
    @travelinaway2707 9 месяцев назад

    Well, i hope you are having a Merry Christmas, Martina. Maybe if you open a window or door when you light the fire and keep the fireplace door open, it will create a draw. The smoke doesnt want to go up a cold chimney so it needs to be forced. 😂😂😂 you are doing a wonderful job and i love all of your videos.

    I've told you before in my comments that I love your attitude! Remodeling a house definitely has "downer" moments but you have proven over and over that you have what it takes to persevere. No doubt you'll get the fireplace situation all figured out by next video. But carbon monoxide is no joke, so if you have to get an expert in there for advice, please do! We don't want anything happening to you!!! You've got this! Love the whole look in the corner with the cabinet and brick going up the wall. Looks GREAT!!! 🤗

    your fire needs to be hotter. when the chimney heats up it creates a draw. get the fire hot with the door open, then close it. Sometimes you can crack a window when you are starting it to help the chimney draw air.

    Oh it's so annoying sometimes to renovate.. and when the weather is nasty, every problem becomes even worse. My aunt's fireplace had smoke leak once. It was horrible, everyone thought the whole house was going to burn down. Fire department then found a crack on the chimney which caused the smoke to leak right under the floor and house.. everything was fine after some airing and fixing the fireplace. But I hope your problem might be easier to solve, maybe try making a smaller fire, to warm up the chimney. And hopelly you have carbon monoxide detectors in your house. Can we also take a moment to admire how CUTE those winterboots are! 😍

  • @gaborfeher741

    The chimney is still cold, so it pushes the smoke back.
    The floor is cracking because you didn't put in dilatation.
