God the fact that Joel knows the soldier will shoot before he actually does and the fact that he's looking over at Tommy when she dies so the last thing she sees isn't even her father's face gets me every time. Last of Us really shows me that in storytelling, not everything has to be wrapped up with a neat bow. Sometimes you don't get last words, or to go out like a hero. Sometimes, the main characters of YOUR story are snuffed out like they didn't even matter to the world. Sometimes you don't get the ending you don't get to finish the story or complete the journey or get the ending you want. And that's just how it is.
Literally can't even watch Sarah's death without tearing up, despite having seen in many times before. Those actors are god tier in their performance. Sarah's whimpers are brutal to hear.
