    Tegiwa also have their own for half the price, but beam is only 20mm than the 21mm, but I’m sure won’t miss 0.5mm either side of the beam and throw on a white line arb and be better than before

      I think the place I got mine actually do a proper Type R beam now (eurosubframes) for about £400 I think. Not looked myself, but read on the FB forums

    I've just spent £800 getting the rear wheel tubs and inner arches welded, picked the car up and on the way to its MOT the rear drivers spring support on the axle completely snapped off, I've got an axle coming but just realised it doesn't have the sway bar, I'm not to bothered about that I just hope it fits. Think my oem number I need is 42100-SMT-E04 and the one they advised and are sending replaces oem numbers 42100SMGE04, 42100SMGE06, 42100SMGE05, nightmare. If the only thing that's different is the sway bar I'm not to bothered.

      What a pain! Is it the torsion bar you are talking about which is inside the axle? I believe mine was the aftermarket version of the Type S which fit fine. It didn't have a part number unfortunately. Bought it from ebay. Think the company is called eurosubframes (if I remember right).
      Hope you get it all sorted out 👍

    • @HighlandViking78
      @HighlandViking78 Год назад +1

      @ModFix yeah the torsion bar, it's not fitted to the one they are supplying, if everything else is the same it's not an issue, I'm putting polly bushes in it and I could fit my own torsion bar at a later date.

    Nice vid man. I would go with the whiteline rear ARB. it will give you the extra rigidity. plus you can get a strut in the boot like the ultra racing one and that will help. The last option is to get a FK2 rear beam. needs slight modifications but is stiffer than the FN2 and there are a few around last time I've checked.

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the info buddy 👍 I have been installing the whiteline ARB this weekend so should appear on the channel in a couple of weeks. Good time to install it while the beam is off as I had to do some "alterations " 😁

  • @mickl8212

    The problem you have with your old rear beam is corrosion. It'll be rotting from the inside too, so I think shot blasting and powdercoat isn't a good idea. I think this is going to become a major issue on this shape Civic and I hope someone doesn't get hurt because of a failure from it.

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, you could do with submerging it in some kind of corrosion treatment, and the same for painting. They are a tricky aftermarket part to get.

      @@ModFix I have the 2.2 diesel version and I'm worried sick it's going to fail as it looks corroded. They look like a bugger to change though. I might just pay a garage to do mine as I need the car on the road as it's my daily driver. Question is, do I sink more money into a 15year old 200k mile car that already has corrosion issues with the chassis. I may just get rid for something newer as I've had this for ten years. Throughout though it's been very reliable

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  3 года назад

      @@mickl8212 It's definitely a tricky decision that I've had to make many times. Sometimes you have to retire the car rather than spending a load of money on it. You may find it a lot easier to get a beam for the 2.2. The Type R was the tricky one to find. Is it worth an inspection next time you have an MOT?

  • @RatedR_88

    Hey mate.
    Did you end up fitting the new beam in the end? My beam is cracked so it needs to be replaced. I assume you bought the new beam from a company in Northern Ireland?
    I just want to be sure it fits and is ok before I order.

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  2 года назад +1

      Hi, yeah I fitted the beam fine. It was from Northern Ireland. Think it was euro sub frames. I have more videos where I install the beam and a rear anti roll bar. I think there are different size ones for the non-type R/S models although that only what I've been told.

    • @RatedR_88
      @RatedR_88 2 года назад +1

      @@ModFix thanks mate. Yeah euro subframes is the company. Mines a type r too, but the genuine Honda part is silly money as you know. The beam from these guys seems to be based off the type S beam. But if it fits, I’m gonna go for it.

      @@RatedR_88 no worries mate 👍 Yeah I believe it's the Type S one. Bonkers how much Honda want for one!! Hope it all goes well bud 😁

    Did you end up fitting this axle in the end? Whats your honest opinion on the poly bushes? Made a difference?

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  2 года назад

      Yeah I fitted this axle. I can't notice any difference, but then I did install the ARB at the same time. I think you'd need to drive it hard on a track to notice any difference. I couldn't notice much difference with those bushes, but then the old ones looked in really good condition. I've always thought that front bushes make more of a difference mate.

    • @ExpressionCulture
      @ExpressionCulture 2 года назад +1

      @@ModFix have you done the front too now? I plan on doing mine front and rear. Ive always had this crabbing effect on the rear in hard corners over uneven surface. Ive done coilovers and rear bolt on arb since which has made it a bit better but its still not perfect. Ive got lots of refreshing to do to it this year.

    I'm going to have to replace the rear beam on my CTR (existing one is unfortunately cracked). I'm curious... did you manage to source a type r rear beam or did you fit the one you had in this video? If so... were there any noticeable differences in handling?

    • @ModFix
      @ModFix  2 года назад +1

      Hi. No didn't get a type R beam. I think they are about £1000 from honda. I think the one I installed was from a Type S. Not sure if you saw that I installed a rear ARB at the same time. I can't notice any difference TBH. I wonder if you might with only the beam.
