Idk, I still see like 80% of this game in the actual DI2 we got. More action, less horror vibe, snarky characters etc... And every change from this to the real DI2 are all for the better imo.

Graphics are great, melee looks a bit shaky, (from what I'm seeing) ammo seems too plentiful, and lastly, the repeated voice clips would get extremely annoying after like 10 minutes. It also seems that the horror factor has been taken out. The game also seems a bit too easy as well. The difficulty and high tension situations were the best parts of the original games. It actually makes me a little sad that these were removed. Despite what I've said it still looks fun.
I'm sure you could just put the voice clips off, i hope they make the melee bit heavier, realistic looking and the explosions more dynamic looking (since it's next gen 2015 game of course)

Riptide, outdid the first Dead Island by miles. Dead Island 2 looked like a downgrade compared to Riptide if I'm honest. Kinda glad they didn't release this.

Animations are different because the first dead island was made by Techland with the Chrome Engine, this is using Unreal Engine 4. However, Techland just came out with Dying Light, and that game looks and feels incredible, it's also very scary at times and is a lot more serious than this game.
They had to restart development for a new game engine for next gen graphics. They've been working on this game since 2018, so about 5 years in development. 5 years before that, its rights and assets were being tossed around.

It's wild coming back to this now. This game actually looks signifigant worse than the final product, which is weird considering very few games that go through the amount of development hell as this one did are actually good in the end. It's nice to see they maintained the original concept tho, and just improved on it. Instead of just exploring a generic, cliche looking American subburb positioned underneath the Hollywood sign, we actually get to see and explore an accurate depiction of the Hills, and the mansions the rich and famous live in
Dead Island 2 will still happen for one very big reason. The franchise is still profitable. Both the first game and it's Riptide add on were big sellers so there's no reason to suspect it won't happen eventually.
The Same " Sometimes i impress myself" is actually a nod to how hard they worked thier ass off on this demo even after being treated the way they were by Deep Silver.
Watching this now after just finishing the game in 2023 makes me grateful for the final product. I truly thought it was one of the best zombie games I’ve ever played. Up there with L4D2

They're focusing too much on guns on this game, which is something i kind of hate since it takes out the realism and the fear of the zombies for me. I like more the survival aspect of zombie games which dying light and even dead island 1 captured perfectly. I also whish the zombies were more active and actually be a threat. Most of the time they're just standing there clueless and when they they come in a hoard you dont get the sense of urgency, which again dying light so beautifully captured. Maybe I'm just being a little too harsh on a game that hasn't even come out yet. Also mele does look a little weiry at times but overall it looks like a cool game.
I completely agree with you, the game has turned into more of a shoot em up than a survival game. Dying light, along with the previous dead island games did create a more survival/horror feel and it made the game great. This game looks fun, but I feel it isn't the same from the looks of the game. This is the pre-alpha version so I won't judge it too much, but again I can relate to what you are saying.

Now its finally coming out but the sad part is that its not this version. The one coming out is completley different and rebuilt from the ground up. Luckly I got the chance to play the dev version of this game from 2015. So im happy.

Watching this now after just finishing the game in 2023 makes me grateful for the final product. I truly thought it was one of the best zombie games I’ve ever played. Up there with L4D2

They're focusing too much on guns on this game, which is something i kind of hate since it takes out the realism and the fear of the zombies for me. I like more the survival aspect of zombie games which dying light and even dead island 1 captured perfectly. I also whish the zombies were more active and actually be a threat. Most of the time they're just standing there clueless and when they they come in a hoard you dont get the sense of urgency, which again dying light so beautifully captured. Maybe I'm just being a little too harsh on a game that hasn't even come out yet. Also mele does look a little weiry at times but overall it looks like a cool game.

I completely agree with you, the game has turned into more of a shoot em up than a survival game. Dying light, along with the previous dead island games did create a more survival/horror feel and it made the game great. This game looks fun, but I feel it isn't the same from the looks of the game. This is the pre-alpha version so I won't judge it too much, but again I can relate to what you are saying.
miguelvltx yeah but they could also be aggresive. They're zombies. They want BRAINS. you have to makr the players be alert and the zombies have to really want to kill, y'know?

shttrddreams Yeah i reackon the same, the best thing dead island had going for it was it's creepy atmosphere and survival gameplay, i liked that game but what ruined it a little bit for me was the cartoonish cutscenes that felt they were part of a differant game and added in to move along the story way too much and the outlandish weapons, which i didn't think fitted to well with the rest of it, it looks like for this game they've dicided to ignore the best parts of the old game and focus on the worst parts!
Now its finally coming out but the sad part is that its not this version. The one coming out is completley different and rebuilt from the ground up. Luckly I got the chance to play the dev version of this game from 2015. So im happy.

Why not have both games since Dead Island is the older brother of the Dying Light series and both games are looking eons better than Overkill's The Walking Dead

Dying light was but to short completed 5 times and I mean the parkour were very clunky with out mods
