I'm working and living in China and we purchased the Q50L model (extended wheelbase). Even though our car is assembled in China, most of its components are still imported to the assembly plant here such as the 2.0t engine from Tennessee and the 7-speed transmission from Japan. I'm proud to drive this car because it's a combination of utilizing global resources and technologies. Sure, the 2.0t engine won't be making fast lap times but it's powerful enough to overpass and drive around other cars on the highway with sport mode on. A fun to drive! Good luck to your business, Infiniti of Tacoma!
I rented this vehicle last weekend. This car is fast, quick & fuel efficient to drive. The fuel range is great. I drove it from LA to SF & still have a 1/2 tank left. A great vehicle to have if you can't afford the V-6 option.
Nissan and Mercedes has joined together. To do business. The main trade-off is Nissan will use some of Mercedes-Benz motors and Mercedes will use Nissan technology. So now you know.
I do not know why Infiniti would put a Mercedes engine in their cars as Nissan's engines are usually much more dependable than Mercedes' engine, but the Q50 is a good driving car.
It costs a lot of money to develop an engine and since Nissan/Renault have a partnership right now with Mercedes it is easier to just license the engine technology than building an engine from the ground up. Not all engines are created equal, even a four cylinder engine that goes into a luxury car needs to have a certain level of refinement.
Some people don't want used vehicles they want something brand new. Its all relative, do you buy used clothing and sneakers, used electronics, probably not because you can afford to buy new stuff. People who have the financial means to buy a car like this may feel the same way. Also some people like to get a new car every three or four years and opt to lease, in that case a new lease payment on this car would likely be less than a monthly finance payment if you bought it used.
So Infiniti didn't have any 4 cylinder engines I(hard to believe), and Nissan didn't have any 4 cylinder engines (even harder to believe), so Infiniti decided to "buy" a 4 cylinder engine from Mercedes; (and pass the cost on to the customer). Another car company trying to piss on our heads and tell us its raining.
The 2.0T 4 cylinder is actually built by Nissan in one of its factories in the U.S.. The engine was designed and developed by Mercedes to use in Mercedes products thats why its considered a Mercedes engine, but being built by Nissan probably made is a wise choice for them to use rather than spending the tons of money it would take to develop their own 4 cylinder engine from scratch. The 4 cylinder engines used in Nissan products are not refined enough to use in a luxury brand, that is why INFINITI chose the 2.0T. Also the 2.0T equipped Q50 and Q60 is a more affordable price point and offers better fuel economy than the new VR30 twin turbo V6. Since some of the Q50's competitors like the Mercedes C Class, BMW 3 series and Audi A4 offer a 4 cylinder option INFINITI thought it was wise to offer one their own product.
Actually from my understanding is that Nissan and MB partner up. And in return MB let Nissan borrow the 2.0T 4 cylinder engine and Nissan let MB borrow their hybrid technology in return to save money for both company.
You're perfectly right. Also, compared to its competitors, to get the same engine performance, you gotta get the Benz C250 (same exact engine), BMW 328 or Audi A4 quattro and these cars cost a lot more than the Q50.
Due to your verbiage its unclear what you are trying to say here. With that said, it still seems crazy that Nissan can't come up with their own in house 4 cylinder engine for this vehicle. As far as the cost of this car as compared to the other vehicles you mentioned, I can't confirm or deny it, as I have never compared them. But it I can say that visually, none of the other aforementioned cars look like a fancy Nissan Altima that ends up costing about 35-40k, and has an engine built in TN by MBUSA.
Boateng 2018 the 2.0 engine is design by mercedes but actually manufactured by nissan in a nissan factory. Same as apple design it's chips but they are actually built by samsung. So it's still an infiniti engine, still a mercedes engine. Brz, frs, 86 same shit
The new twin turbo VR30 V6 actually replaced the VQ37 engine, the 2.0 Turbo is just another option for shoppers looking for a lower price point and do not need 300 + HP
@@infinitioftacoma1 VQ engines are arguably the best v6 engined ever built, Nissan builds better engines than Mercedes, I question the longevity of these small 2.0t engines.

Damn that black color looks sick on this car!!! 💯

dane dayne 3.0t is made by nissan. 2.0t is the exception
Sounds much better then the 2.2d
Whatever you do, don't buy this new---the value isn't there. Wait 1-2 years and get it preowned...Uh, from Infiniti of Tacoma of course. :)

But probably all cars have been tested so its still used :)
Charlie_Willie Exactly what I did. Bought 11.2016 model in 9.2018...demonstrator model with just 1800km...saved over $13,000.

They got rid of 3.7 for this unreliable German lawnmower motor. I rather have the old 2.5 V6 than this turbo.

Uh. The 3.7 is still an option.
