Don't let this video fool you; this was not an easy thing to do! The panels started becoming easier to remove about the 3rd time taking it apart. I did break one tab on the rear fender shown at @5:20 due to my own negligence, during its first removal.
Glad you picked one up. It'll be a collectors item for sure, but I couldn't find a use case for myself; it would just sit in the garage while I rode my bike or drove my Fit.
I'm super excited about the MotoCompacto, but can agree that it's not for everyone. I'm able to use it at work and it's a huge time saver zipping from one end of the building to the other. I also plan on riding it to work once the weather warms up. I've been wanting an e-bike or e-trike for quite some time, but Honda doesn't really make any bicycles or separate hub motors that I know of, so this was the next best thing. Wait until you see the Kayak trailer that I built for this thing. :)
I'm in the same boat. I really want a Motocompacto, especially before Honda yanks it for being small and economical. A classic for sure. But, my Fit does everything and my bicycle does the rest. And $1000 plus dealer markup (~$200 near me) is more than an impulse buy.
@@midtech168 If I were commuting to college, this might be just the ticket. Parking is always bad, so if this got me 2 miles to the bus stop, then I could just fold up and carry it on, and hop off at the campus. Some buses have a bike rack on the front, but that takes a minute and won't make you popular during busy times. Then you still have to lock your bike during class. It might even pay for itself by avoiding parking fees.
I am now an expert in removing Motocompacto panels, LOL thanks to your video. I have removed the side panels from two Motocompactos now without breaking any of the side panel clips. The toughest clip for me on the first one was the lowest clip on the rear (third clip from the top). As it turns out, that is about the only clip you can see without taking a panel off. After getting the top two clips on the rear released, the lower one was still holding on tightly. I was able to reach that clip with a small screw driver coming in from the bottom, and push that clip back. After that, I just followed your method with 100% success.
I just put up a Mode 2 Range Test video and showed a few seconds of your video in mine to credit you with teaching me how to remove the side panels. I hope that some of my viewers will also watch your other Motocompacto videos.
I meant to say plastic trim tools instead of plastic pry tools. I have a set of trim tools that I bought off of Amazon and a few other trim tools that came with various car parts. They still had to be filed down a bit to make things easier, IMO
Hey there, I think you posted this in the MotoCompacto FB group. If so, I think you got it out already. If not, I'll go check how they go there's out. Sorry for the delay.
😂😂😂, I only saw the text notification and thought you were talking about my car, which has a PS4 controller inside, lol. I never thought about the Compacto looking like a PS5. Thanks for the great "Livery" idea 😎

Same here, I’m in college at the moment, it’s walking distance everywhere on campus, I don’t see myself riding the scooter much.

excellent video, and very helpful, thanks
The first time is a pain. It's much easier after that.
Have Fun!
@@HondaFit4Adventure Following your video, I was able to remove both side panels without breaking any of the tabs.

I wonder if plastic trim tools, like those used on car interiors, would be good for this.

@@HondaFit4Adventure Yeah I'd get them off Amazon too. Not going to file down my Snap-on set. 😂
Thanks for this series about the Motocompacto!
Suggest using a JIS Phillips tool.
I never thought about that.
I just added one to the tool kit.
Thanks!
I got the seat stuck in backwards. Any idea how to remove it?

Who put wheels on a ps5? 😂

I do not. I've gotten that comment a few times, so I will have to look into it.
