I recommend adding kapton tape to entire back of the screen. The back of the screen looks like thin-steel or aluminum, and it's is conductive. One youtuber demonstrated in his battery mod video that this metal back is charged at something like 5v, so it causes bad interference if the screen touches the circuit board. (It was happening to me.) Yeah, so about 2 or 3 single layer pieces of kapton tape did the trick! (depending on the width of the tape. I think I have a roll of 2" wide kapton.) I hope this helps someone!
I used different approach. I stepped up power bank voltage from 5v to 12v and fed it to charging port of ev800d. All it takes a powerbank, usb cable and step up module. Works pretty well.
UPDATE--I only found one problem with this mod and it's not necessarily a deal breaker but want you to know. When the signal gets really weak the screen will black out instead of going to static. It only goes black once the video is soo bad you can barely see but the problem i have with that is i realized I'd rather barely be able to see than just see black. When this happens the video comes back really quickly but it freaked me out and i have crashed because of it so i actually finally found a smokin deal and bought some fatshark goggles lol! If you disabled one of the receivers on the EV800D and hooked up the module there that probably wouldn't happen i just don't have time to do anymore modding. To see how you might do this you could check out Dronemesh's EV800 mod, ruclips.net/video/dVYaH1-bwaE/видео.html

Yeah it should work just fine, the spot to hook up the positive for the receiver just might be somewhere else on the board but the battery connection looks like it's the same as the EV800D👍
Hi please i need help i buy the foxeer wild fire i did what u show us here but without voltage booster when i try the goggles all working well but same distance nothing chaged is that due to voltage booster??
Maybe, without the voltage booster it probably won't use both modules, so if you have a circular polarized antenna on one and a patch on the other it might only be receiving through the circular one which would give less range. But even with the full 5 volts you probably won't get any more range with this receiver than with the stock modules, (i didn't seem to with my rapidfire) but you will have much better video in multipath environments like in a bando or concrete structure and you won't have to worry about the modules switching back and forth slowly, having a moment of blackout or a lot of video rolling.
@@falkorfpv570 thank u friend, and please what is my solution to get more range? This is why i bought the wildfire, or mzybe if i use it in a goggles with module bay this will be give me that long range?
Basically the module is just better. The way i hooked it up in this video though you can switch inputs and use the stock receivers instead if you like they are still operational (as long as the antennas are on)😀.
