Chorus:
Bang, bang, shoot 'em up destiny (bang, bang)
Bang, bang, shoot 'em up to the moon (bang, bang)
Bang, bang, shoot 'em up one, two, three (one, two, three, four)
I wanted to be a spaceman, that's what I wanted to be
But now that I am a spaceman
Nobody cares about me
All y’all people coming from space force pay attention, because this man is a genius. Listen to more of his stuff it’s awesome
I got hooked on Harry 4 years ago. Opened my eyes to a whole new world, Nilsson’s world! I see Moonbeams, and coconuts, and points, and space travel in a whole new light. He sang beautiful music and brought joy to my world and I won’t forget him! 😁
Soberly or what party favor you recommend?
sure, as I love listening to music
Classic Harry - Lime in the Coconut 💚🥥💚
roger that
Harry Nilsson is an American treasure.

3 CHORD DRUGGIES OWN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finish all the episodes damn that's a good show
I finished it in a day and it was epic
Can’t wait for season 2
@@benrudolph8318 same
Definitely, cant wait for s2
hell yeah
no, it wasnt good.... It was amazing, or great... idk yet
This is one that mainstream radio hasn't played in decades. Fall 1972 memories here.
Mainstream radio? I think it is lame stream radio if they don't play any Harry Nillson! They're breaking my heart.
Harry Nilsson had, what?, five octaves? Arguably the greatest vocalist in history. There was a great story of him being out partying all night, smoking, drinking, and he had a studio session in the morning. With no sleep, still haggard, the limo dropped him off, and he promptly went and recorded "Without You," which showcases his inhuman range beautifully.
3 n a half octaves.
This artist needs to be rediscovered. The Beatles said that he was their favorite musician in the US. I can still listen to his songs 50 years later. Very cool
RINGO played drums on this song!
John Lennon said that Harry Nilsson was his favorite "group."
3rd person I here say that ....the real 5th beatle 😝. Lost weekend. boom .enough said
Nilsson was awesome. One of the greatest artists that so many people have never heard of today.
@@Rapture-FarmsYeah but there were enough 5th Beatles to make a band. 🎉
No wonder he was the Beatles favorite artist
Unbelievable vocals. It's been said at his worst he never missed a note.
I remember when I first heard this song around 1972 or so I was living at home and my dad worked in the aerospace industry, and it just brings back all the best memories!
I can imagine
My Dad wasn't ever with aerospace but he gave me space to explore. Harry Nilsson provided the words and power to the musical trip. Thank you, sir.
@@arip531 Nicely said!
in '72 everybodys dad took home military industrial bucks
Yes Space Force brought me here..but my goodness is this song addicting.
Terific Earworm!!
Earworm!
Harry was Special. You couldn't label him,He didn't fit the Slit but he made the Groove. Always will Love ARROW!❤
3 CHORD DRUGGIES ARE WORTHY?
damn good song !

It's good to be black on the moon...
GODDAMMIT!
She had... one job
That tik tok reference isn't going to age well.
farid knows what good is
YES
Wartrix it might since it can still be a thing of the past
Have not heard this song since I was 8 years old, played it all the time, 46 years later, thank you Space Force
Never heard it before Space Force. [born in the mid 60's] Love this song!
Space force for the win! ❤
Who knew a song from the early 70s could have such an impact over 40 years later
Thanks Space Force for getting this song stuck in my head for eternity.
Same from me
It was. back in 1972.
This is going to get popular fast.
Um.... this guy was popular already... just sayin. :)
69 likes lol.
It's always been popular for those that lived it first hand.
Nobody cares about me
Hey, Mother Earth, won't'cha bring me back down safely to the sea?
Around and around and around and around is all she ever say to me
I wanted to make a good run, I wanted to go to the moon
I knew that it had to be fun
I told 'em to send me real soon
I wanted to be a spaceman, I wanted to be it so bad
But now that I am a spaceman I'd rather be back on the pad
Hey, Mother Earth, won't'cha bring me back down safely to the sea?
Around and around and around and around is just a lot of lunacy (yeah)
(Yeah)
'Round and around and around and around and around (so bring me back down)
'Round and around and around and around and around, safe on the ground
Hey, Mother Earth, better bring me back down safely to the sea
But around and around and around and around is all she ever say to me, yeah
You know I wanted to be a spaceman
That's awhat I wanted to be
But now that I am a spaceman nobody cares about me
Say hey, you Mother Earth, you better bring me back down
I've taken just as much as I can
Around and around and around and around is the problem of a spaceman
Lunacy that’s good word choice seeing as the moons name is Luna
@@insertname7750 tl;dr it comes from the meaning that the moon supposedly made you crazy
@@insertname7750 also, the moons name in English is "the moon" lol it's only luna (selene) in greek
Well done mate.
Biden my time.
This song is a thousand years old and just as cool as it was when it was then.
timeless perhaps !
You're breaking my heart. You're tearing...
Genius. Genius, with a great sense of humor ❤
Ringo's drums and percussion really take this song into orbit...otherwordly
Space force is the best Netflix show ever
"but now that I am a spaceman
nobody cares about me"
tribute to Michael Collins
Encountered this song for the first time from Space Force and I fell in love right away. Was born in '79 and can only imagine how amazing it must have been for those who were in their teens and early 20s when this song came out, especially for space geeks like myself. I spent the next 2 hours listening to the song on repeat and learning the words. New karaoke favourite.
This sounds like the perfect mix of Bowie and Elton
Y E S
I also hear the genius of Kate Bush in there.... and that early 1970s sythpop sound of the Partridge Family and the Carpenters.
@@greggsmith8936 ...not sure if serious... o.O
Depeche Mode is synthpop. Yazoo. Soft Cell. Partridge Family and Carpenters are just pop. Fairly good pop, but still. Synthpop is an 80's thing, not 70's. Synth appeared in the 50's (Delia Derbyshire among others), but didn't really hit it big until the 70's with Kraftwerk, but synthpop is from roughly 79-80 with a few very obscure early attempts before it exploded in the early 80's alongside New Wave.
Haha that's funny
I think that’s an excellent analogy
I've never heard of this Space Force show, but I'm glad there are some new Nilsson fans
This is late, but it's on netflix.
No clue what space force is but I have a feeling this fits in perfectly.
All credit to HARRY!!! Forget about the silly shows, he's the real deal.
The “bang bang shoot them up” part is absolutely adorable. I can’t believe he didn’t reuse that in a song but that shows you the immense perfusion of talent that he had at the time that he could be so stingy with such a great verse
He was a GREAT TALENT. UNDER RATED. I'VE OWNED 3 of his albums. LOVED THEM ALL CLASSIC.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. And one of the greatest artists of all time.
Space Force and SpaceX Dragon on the same weekend! Brilliant!
Français ?
Natsu Dragnir lancement de Space Force et Space X Dragon le même week-end? impressionnant!
j'espère avoir bien compris. je ne parle pas couramment le français!

Space force!!!
When I was about 8 years old I wanted to be an astronaut and I would listen to this and Rocket Man over and over again.........I'm 38 now and I am not an astronaut, turns out you have to be really smart. Cool song though!
Also in top physical shape.
Thought this was going to be a deep emotional story about how some kid followed his dreams instead its the average American story
Good for you!same story ,except I am 60!
Just go to the space force it's a new branch lol
Just take some LSD. Become that space cadet you always wanted to be, for 12 hours.
Space Force introduced me to two great songs, this and Kokomo by the Beach Boys 💗
I've been listening to the beach boys since I was 5. Space Force introduced me to this great song. I am 14 now.
If you were 8 years old in 1973, this song was all you heard ,..and I mean EVERYWHERE !!!
Space included?
This song is stuck in my head why wasn’t this in guardians of galaxy anyways
Ikr? I’m confused as to why they haven’t used it yet 🤷♀️
Volume 3 is coming out soon hopefully it’ll be in that
I'm surprised Orville didnt use this.
I feel like it shouldve been in the Martian
omg totally.....
Space Force _lit me up_ when they used this favorite tune from a favorite album. Brilliant AF!
Space Force! 🚀🌑
Space Force introduced me to this awesome song
I could see how this would be military related. Gives me chills
Yup, add me to the list of Space Force folks. Haven't heard this song in decades. So happy that the show re-introduced me to it.
Yeah!!! Love my space force! You will never be isolated. Love you too much. This is 1972
GREAT album. This one got worn out. Especially "You're Breaking My Heart". Memories of being a teenager.
Still have this album...love Son of Schmilsson..it has The Most Beautiful Songs In The World. I was a teenager also when this came out..So many good tunes.
Great album and absolutely YES to You're Breaking My Heart.

All of his songs are so addictive. Having a bad day just listen to Harry for a while and you will feel better.
what a great song. Getting to really like Son of Schmilsson; didn't think I could love anything better than Aerial Ballet xoxo Love Harry forever!!
Very first time, at 60 years of age, experiencing this song. Perfect Timing!
I don't care about the reviews, I thought Space Force was hilarious, especially John Malkovich's character.
Same
honestly i didn’t mind his character in the later episodes
Dr. Adrian Malory was dawn good
And they hated coast guard lol
Malkvovich's character was indeed hilarious and he was spot on with his performance!
Only got as far as the opening credits of Space Force, then Harry kicked in and I was back in college hanging out in a bean bag and musing on the tunes. Harry Nilsson-one of a kind in a once in a lifetime experience!
Space Force!
Space force!!
Have loved this song since the album came out. I like the way it starts simply but soon goes epic. Great string arrangement by Paul Buckmaster and great production (and backing vocals) by Richard Perry. The rhythm section is Ringo and Beatles' pal Klaus Voorman!
Class has a punchy base sound
BANG BANG SHOOT UP THE HEROINEEEEEEE
This was my favourite song when I was about 9. I may still have it in vinyl - 45rpm. This is the first time I have heard it in over 40 years :o)
Listen again 😃😄. Can't imagine that nostalgia! ❤
My favorite Harry tune.
Who else is looking forward for a season 2

This was way better than I thought!!! I didn't have thoughts but for this show to go over my expectations for me is the ultimate win!!!
Yep

3D Modeller so next seasons come when half life 3 arrives
I liked how they made the friendship between Mark and Dr. Adrian, their relation really was something cool. Also I really liked the end of each episode, I can't explain but it was about emotion.
Great jam !
I remember this song back in the 70’s always loved it.
Sounds even better today than when I was first listening to it 50 years ago. Maybe I should go and revisit Manfred Mann too.
schmuck
I always loved this song. I guess I'm not the only one that remembers it :)
Space force made me look this up
Rest in peace Harry Nilsson. Passed away in '94

I'm here because I loved this song as a kid! Had no idea it was Nilsson.
Almost every comment is about space force and I love it
My oldest brother and his wife played this for me one evening when I was depressed and drinking too much. Actually the whole side of the album. It's stuck in my mind ever since. With YOU TUBE LYRICS I've been able to bring back a 4 decade old memory . Thanks Dave, Tammy n YT

Flying in from Space Force. Whoooooooshhhh.
This song was what I loved most from Space Force.
Space Force was an amazing show. Season 1 was great and can't wait for Season 2. Idk why a lot of people didn't like it.
@
B-Radical Entertainment It was OK but not great. Kind of all over the place and had some episodes that really dragged a bit. It has a low rotten tomatoes score too so we will see what will happen
@@perfectmachinegames No one cares about Rotten Tomatoes anymore man 😂 people haven't for years. We will have to agree to disagree though. I think the main disappointment is coming from people that wanted an Office clone.
Singing this with my sister in summer of '73- round and round and round - miss u sissy.
Space force like everyone else
This song is the biggest not-a-secret that all the mainstream and oldie stations ignored. As a kid who grew up listening to all the radio stations, can't believe my whole life I never heard this until Space Force!

I just finished binging it

Love it! Still have this album.
You SHOULD be here because of Harry.
The man was one of a kind.
Tell me, is this song in the show? I haven’t seen any shows from the series but I’m very familiar with this song Spaceman by Harry Nilsson!
Great song to end the season!
Top song to finish the 1st season of space force cant wait to find out why maggie got 40 years
I knew about this song for years, and to hear it on Space Force was great.
Getting Guardians of the Galaxy vibes
I can see this being in Vol. 3
Just a shot of quill after he got knocked out or something in a fight. Bass line from this song starts then you get that stereotypical shot of his hand flickering with movement near his blaster on the ground
Yup!
Here for General Naird
I loved this song ! No still love this song !
