pirtk is a repair company I used to work for them we did all sorts of stuff including aircraft hydraulic systems . Most likely a blown hydraulic line or pump failure
I would hazard a guess that it was an air leak of some sort, since the class 20s have an engine air control line and Pirtek do hose repairs... It did sound like the engine was struggling to pick up through Carlisle.

@@WCMLtrainspotter Only if they are maintained correctly, problem is that Balfour Beatty runs them until they fail hence why they are still at Upperby.. They may use another Class 20 to rescue them, we will have to wait until Monday to find out.
High density headlights. The class 20 original lights fitted when built were very poor I spent years riding around on them from early 1970's onward as traincrew
Update: 20901 was confirmed to be the problem locomotive and is now fixed, it is now due to leave Carlisle on Monday! (12/8.24) 😊

20901 is a disc 20 so it's from the 1950s batch, 65 plus potentially. Amazing. The oldest 37s are 64 this year too.

By the looks of it 20901 wasn’t taking any power, when they tried taking power 905 on the rear reved up but 901 didn’t

Hi I’m not 100% sure either but I think it uses the hoses to clean out the drains along the railway, hope this helps and thanks for the comment! 👍
