Splendid! The singers are really well rehearsed and obviously enjoying themselves enormously...and the conductor is wonderful! We've been invited to your Summer concert by one of your recent recruits, Brian Gibson. We'll look forward to that!
All the best Heather Speight from Durham (and the Durham Singers)

There is a" MVC style" for this piece that even some of the best?? follow. It is typically too loud at the start, smoothes out the rythmic sections and does something absolutely attrocious around the word "temples" . This choir is clearly trying to get closer to both Verdi and Northcotes intentions. Well Done!

Could not agree more - I have two Male Voice Choir's and we work very hqrd to keep to Verdi's rhythms. One of my bugbears is putting the stress on a word - in this case it's couRage "cou Rage" instead of plain and simple courage. Sing it as you'd say it please.

Reading the many inane comments here, I am reminded of the old observation that writing about music is like dancing about architecture. Really doesn't work very well, does it ?

Too pretty...think Hebrew slaves not nice guys from the east of england...... exceptional pianist and sung musically perfectly but lacking the true feeling but very well done.

The choir is English & don't have the intonation of the Italians, but that doesn't mean to have to mean about their singing.
