Just wanted to express my appreciation for the wonderfully executed and extremely detailed and well thought out guides in general, but specifically your walkthroughs. Keep em' coming brother! I've seen the ones you have already done but would really love to see a video about all your favorite/the best pvp weapons
If you poison the boss before the second phase it is easier to keep track of him when he teleports and while he is flying. Helps with a bit of damage as well since for the second phase it is harder to get hits in consistently.
For dragon lord, I used mimic with the talisman that attracts boss attention. This freed me up to melt the boss with my bubble weapon. That perfume saved was a life saver at points, highly recommended.
The perfume is soooo good. Mad at myself for sleeping on the perfume stuff the entire time. I honestly forgot I even had it. Wish I had used it for a lot of past fights.
I beat him in my first attempt, thanks to this advice. I equipped the Boltdrake Talisman + 2 and the Shard of Alexander and continuously hit him with the Bloodhound's finesse. It greatly helps that your mimic is quite tanky, so it can take a lot of damage. Only used 2 of my perfume bottles and I still had ~4 healing flasks left.
Got to the dragon about 4 days ago but with 2 flasks. Did not want the headache I know I was about to endure. Decided to push through today and shock, died. Then a second time. The re-watched the video, saw the bit about the perfume bottles and so set myself up and tried a third time. One dead dragon, went down a lot faster than I expected. Loving these guides
@@xntrikk9189 Just beat Placidusax. I figured out the dodge in his flying phase on the second attempt and zurged him down with the Bolt of Gransax - it barely had a chance to hit. To get close for pure melee is no easy feat. I still can't shield parry whatsoever, either.
@xntrikk9189 they do, but for this boss if you are an faith build you can hit him so hard with Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike that it will skip his 2nd phase.
It's so cool that you can only use Miquella's needle here. I guess it is mainly because you go back in time when entering this arena, and by inserting needle in yourself you get immune to frenzy effect by the time you get hugged by three fingers.
I´m on episode 49 at this point following you and i can say it goes so smooth and i´m really thankful for your dedication to guide noobs like me. I always look at your new videos as soon as possible, keep it up man we appreciate it a lot!
Yep..Dragon fights the Longhorn with Mimic using Longhorn just destroys dragons..Alot of other bosses though I find it can be slow to release so I just use my spells or Eleonora Poleblade.
For anyone who didn't get the invasion like me, I went back to volcano manor and talked to the dude....yet again...had done this, but yeah.....he moved on from volcano manor when I did this and invaded.
Just found your channel and started watching the walkthrough videos... excellent info and quality! I'm playing with a mage and decided to attempt the Dragonlord boss. Tried for almost 3 hours using a dozen different spells, Ashes and even the Dark Moon Greatsword +10. Accidentally went in one time after using a Furlcalling Finger Remedy without canceling it first and couldn't even summon an Ash... then proceeded to absolutely destroy the Backyard Lizardlord with Adula's Moonblade spell!! I'm now getting ready for Journey 2 and I will be using your walkthrough Playlist from start to finish!

Oh gosh can’t say thanks enough how dedicated you are with so much helpful walkthroughs. Like literally walk through!!!!! Almost forgot an entire Jarburg place and this walkthrough happened
The dragon fight I never knew I needed, this boss was so dope, as large as it was, it could teleport and just dope, so cool. Also the sword/weapon art you get from beating Placidusax is amazing
I was having trouble with Bernahl because of his speed, high poise, protective spells and healing, so I used an Ironjar Aromatic. It must give you a huge amount of poise because I got him trapped against the railing and he couldn't move me out of the way. That was it for him. All those perfume bottles we've been collecting, don't overlook them. They really are powerful under the right circumstances.
i keep it on the hot bar for when i summon the mimic, he will use them and facetank even harder than anyone thought possible. I’ve also had him use the uplifting aromatic to buff me, perfumes are great. plus when the mimic uses them they’re completely free, since some of the crafting materials are limited quantity
In case you're struggling with the Legendary Armaments achievement, Steam DID give it to me, but didn't give me the notification in game. Make sure to check your achievements before you spend 20 minutes dropping swords on the ground over and over again.
Okay that was the most epic dragon fight. Took me 3 hours of messing around. What finally worked for me was maxed out lighting/fire/physical dmg reduction talismans, lightning grease on bloodhound fang, lightning negation consumable item, the perfumers bottles, 50/50 bullgoat/radahns armor, crimson bubble tear/opaline bubble tear worked amazingly, instead of running out from some of the lightning hits i just consumed negation food and barely took any damage with all my resistances so high. Oh also i used the spiral horn shield just on my back while two handing, gives you a ton of resistances while remaining super light. Anyways, I love how in this game even if you are not the most amazing player you can mess with your gear setups and consumables to stay in the fight long enough to figure out and kill the bosses. Thanks for the guide as always!
I tried a lot of different things. Lost about 5 rune arcs and quit using them. In the end i killed him in like 5 seconds with a spell Ive never used. Just ran wide around the back of him till he was done with the lightning he does, set up terra magica and deleted him with comet azure. Felt very anti climactic. I had fought him about 9 times and got him to about 10-15% health almost every time so I knew I was close. Thought I'd start out with comet azure to get that 15 off first.... instead it literally deleted him. No buffs other than terra magica. That spell is a little strong. I'll only use it when I'm fed up lol
Thanks Cowboy for this walkthrough. Just killing the dragon with your suggestions. Then took a long time on the summons guy. go figure. Your assistance has made such a big help. Playing on 1.09 now and the legendary weapon trophy does come right up.
Quick tip for casters/Hybrid builds: Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike. I had 36 Faith and charged up on each cast right under Placidusax. He went down on 4th cast (3 technically because he flew up on the 3rd and most of it missed). Nominal bonus from the Faithful’s Canvas Talisman and nothing else even forgot to use my Wondrous Flask with the Lightning Shrouded Cracked Tear. Also if you don’t have that particular spell any powerful AoE lightning spell will do just fine.
Dude you make that sentinel look so easy. I got my ass kicked from about 7 o'clock til about 10:30-at that point I quit and went to sleep.....I beat him the first try the next morning though. Fighting him with no horse was my hardest fight by far so far.
He hits like a truck man I practiced on the last one with no horse because I remember on my first playthrough he did the same the me I’m on my second playthrough and got him first try but he’s tough
I had so much trouble with golden horsey as faith/strength but what helped was getting him to his second phase where he starts flinging red fireballs. Much easier to dodge then it was just a game of attrition. As I hit him with my last takers flame he killed me with a fireball but thank god it registered as a win for me and I got the gear. I don't know if rot breath has been nerfed but thay did absolutely nothing for me in this fight
I had the same thing with the Crucible Knight at Nokron via one of the 4 Belfries… simultaneous deaths! It annoyed me as I don’t see it as a true victory but he doesn’t re-spawn so I can’t have a rematch 🤦🏼♂️
I struggled hard with that guy until I tried that gold shield cowboy used. Boost it with Alexander's charm and sacred scorpion charm. Keep him at distance he spams that fireball attack once you get the timing down you will wreck him.
Soloing this dragon with bolt of gransax ash of war only was the hardest fight in the whole game for me but your elden ring walkthrough is so amazing! Just wanted to say thank you I’m still following it even a year on
So, I went into this fight fully expecting to take multiple tries. Turns out Black Flame Tornado is incredibly effective against Placidusax, especially when fighting alongside Tiche.
On the topic of Gideon Ofnir's final incantation - if you kill Maliketh before Milena, and Gideon is gone, the twin maiden husks sell the incantation for 3500 runes! So, if, like me, you went ahead and rushed in, not knowing what it would trigger, don't fret.
@@Pappavol Did you help Bernhal with his invasion in the Capital (the one in the hall of the other Round Table)? Then exhaust his dialogue in Volcano Manor?
Fought the tree sentinel today. I used rotten breath then ran back to the grace and waited for his health to deplete. Ran back again, rotted him again then ran back to the grace again and waited until his health was almost gone. Used a few arrows to kill him the rest of the way. Worked very well.
Damn why didn’t i think of this 😒 i died like 50 times to that dude. Is just not a fair fight. Harder than alot of bosses i fought that only took me 1 or 2 tries, but not this guy nearly made me break my computer 😅
@@emmanuelpena6146 I’m working on Malenia now and she’s beating me senseless. I’ve only even gotten to the second phase 4 times but I’m determined. Dragonlord took me so many tries too but I finally got him
@@babsdances3919 Malenia only took me 3 tries. Dragonlord I killed after my second try, and believe or not Makelie the beast was too easy my mimic destroyed him 😂 I barely got to hit him. For some reason my biggest struggle are with the open world against things that are not even bosses like the tree sentinal, the imps, and the knights gave me the most trouble 😂. For Malenia I suggest you stay aggressive on top of her go for a light weapon that has quick hits, I used rivers of blood and made her look like a joke 😂.
The mimic tear came in clutch for me. At the last phase when the dragon shoots that beam, the mimic suddenly took away almost all of the remaining health with bleed, allowing me the win with no flash and health left.
My mimics bleed proc saved my ass. I had a shred of health left and braced for death as the dragon reached back to slap me, and he just faded into ash instead. Phew.
To say this man loves the Dragonlord would be an understatement haha. Good on him, I can't imagine how cool it must be to be the first one to defeat such a cool boss!
As others have said, Ancient Dragon's Lightning strike SHREDS this dragon lord's health bar if you're a faith boy. I was shocked at how much this thing hit for.
Same I was using lighting spear and the what not and I got close to him and used the fortissax’s lighting strike and it did decent damage and then I don’t remember when but I got on his ass first try and used the strike and it took a large amount of his health, I then proceeded to die but I used it and taker’s flame as my main damage against it
I've been avoiding this fight for a week, playing another character instead. So when I finally managed to work up the courage to take placidusax on I killed him on my first attempt. No flasks left and just 10% health but I got him. :) *time to strut* Awesome fight.
I actually found the final Deathbird to be more difficult than Dragonlord Placidusax. I got the Dragonlord on my first try, though it was unbelievably close. The final Deathbird took me around 12 attempts. It really is kind of strange how some of these bosses work out. I was so afraid to fight the Lord of Blood, even though I’d already beaten his earlier form, but getting past those damned giant crows was way harder. I died to them probably 3 or 4 times on my way to Mohg and then killed Mohg on my first try. Obviously having the summons plays a huge role in how difficult most fights will be, it’s just kinda funny to struggle the whole way up to a boss, only to wipe the boss from the face of the earth in about 35 seconds.
It took 15 attempts, but when I finally beat Dragonlord Placidusax, I died at the same time he did! The same thing happened earlier in the game with Rennala and I lost all the runes from that fight. I don't know if they patched it to handle cases like these ones, but I was thankfully able to travel back to the Dragonlord Placidusax grace and pick up the 280k runes.
That boss is unreal. Don’t much love the instakill laser show just like Midir which ruined my life on more than one occasion. But that was intense. What a great boss fight.
Love your walkthroughs, been watching them ever since I started playing souls games. Tried to fight Dragonlord, died on my 1st try, so I leveled up then finally got to defeat him on my 2nd try. Unexpectedly, tried to cheese him with a bow but still prompted the battle. Tried the rotdragon breath along with the Marais greatsword.
Hate to say it, but having killed Dragonlord Placidusax with arrows, I finally figured out that I didn’t need to keep swapping over the arrows in my equipment slot. All I had to do was press L1 or L2 to fire each type (or R1/R2 if equipped in right hand). Bit slow on the uptake there but I am 55 next week 🙄🤣🏹🏹
0:50 I was wondering where this Ancient Dragon is who lies beyond time, as it is written in the description of Ancient dragon smithing stone and the somber one. Thanks, Cowboy.
A type to beat the tree sentinel near maliketh. Use blood hound step on a bleed weapon. You can dodge the horse attack and the lighting attack with ease. You wont be punished when u try and heal
Yea im gettn DEMOLISHED by that fuker lol. I even tried cheesn him by the steps u come up and the asshat hit me off the steps with a lightning strike lol. Parrying his Fire was working well with my Erdtree Shield but then he would rush me and we would trade hits. And his damage output compared 2 mine was OP
For anyone having problems with this guy, get some points into faith. I used the talisman and a Rune Arc, and equip the Envoy's Long Horn on you and your mimic. And then just bubble the everlovin crap out of him. Those bubbles tear him up.
Great guide btw just one mistake i noticed when i went for my legendary achievement your nine listed you counted devourers scepter twice where the one you are missing is Marais Executioner's Sword
Tried out the fight with various combs at first really enjoyed then 3 Ancient dragon lightning spell was all it took to obliterate him plus i had lightning talisman and flask too.
I usually keep a few of those uplifting aromatics in an equipment slot for the mimic to use as well. They will usually buff you with them too if your close enough when they use them.
He actually had 4 heads originally, but lost two in his defeat by Godfrey.... and Placidusax, being Godfrey's last great opponent defeated, was what caused Godfrey to be lose his Grace and be exiled, becoming the first Tarnished.
Don't make shit up, Godfrey didn't exist then. It was the Elden Beast that cut them off after it was sent through Farum Azula. That was a time before Marika, mind you. A time before the Erdtree. Far before the First Elden Lord's time.
@@asdergold1 Farum Azula actually exists outside of time ... so that whole argument is inconsequential. According to the Old Lords Talisman, Wiki, and The Fandom it is VERY STRONGLY hinted at and stated that Godfrey was his final opponent before going "Beyond time" ... Im not the one making shit up ... did you pull that explanation out of your arse?
@@asdergold1 where is that ever said??? All it says is that the Greater Will abandoned Dragons for Humans, making Marika its new vessel for the Elden Ring ... THEN a war was raged against The Dragons, LED BY GODFREY.
19:56- I noticed this when we were going through this area. Is there a reason cowboy always goes up the root before dropping down there? It seemed as if he was unaware you could just walk under it. Not that it really matters at all, just curious
If you killed Maliketh before Melenia, you can still get "Lord's Divine Fortification" from the Twin Maiden Husks at the round table. You don't even have to kill Melania before hand.
That Tree Sentinal was the hardest fight for me in the game so far, harder than Malenia. Can't summon an ash, and the guy just doesn't stop with his attacks. Took me like 50 tries lol
I feel you but unbelievably the dragonlord was harder for me I don't know I guess everybody plays a little different plus the tree sentinel attacks are so easy to see right before he or it does it
@@THECROW1368 yeah Dragonlord was very difficult as well with his one shots. I'm mainly a melee build so that made it harder, I hear that magic users have it much easier
@@Dad_of_War omg that is soooooo true most people I know who have mage class warriors are O.P and then they just keep their distance which makes it soooo much easier while guys like us who have melee class warriors have to get up close and personal so to be honest and not to give crap to the mage users but I think we deserve a little higher praise especially when taken on bosses who can kill you with one hit even if you are level 300 lol but keep it up melee users ROCK
Just downed the Dragonlord for the first time (8/18/23). I am playing as a bow user, so I used the Lion Greatbow and Tiche. Went down really fast. Probably would have went down faster if I used Mimic.
When I nuked him with the "Kamehameha" spell while the zero-FP-cost tear was active, but only could cut his health bar in half, I knew this boy is damn thick 😑😑😑
@@andy764 I finally resorted to comet azure too. But I got him in one shot. 5 seconds. Did you use terra magica? Also I had 78 int. No other buffs except talismans. But they were mass graven and scorpion charm. So 20% there and 30 from terra magica...so that would be about right if you were missing some of that
if you're struggling to kill the dragon try to make it busy with your mimic and target its tail while keep distance and using dragon rot skill while having infinite fb flask active helps a ton
Dragonlord was the hardest boss yet. I’m not kidding you, took an hour last night and three hours today until I finally got it. The rest of this game has been a breeze until this.
I could not beat the dragon with my magic build, so rebirthed as faith with the Envoy Long Horn and just melted him. I feel a little bad but moving on with blasphemous blade
I found finding Plucidusax the first time highly entertaining. Like "Lie down...? Okay, so my dude is just taking a nap in the middle of a giant storm? Ooooo... That's a big monster 🤯🤯🤯"
i love how they keep making boss fights like this, its so cool and amazing, not only that but elden ring might have one of the best fights in gaming history thanks to from soft
mimic plus rivers of blood worked wonders plus those perfume bottles genius; so far love the walkthrough playing thru as i watch absolutely wonderful; but a truly wonderful boss and boss fight prob the best boss ive ever faced imo
Usually I feel tedious fighting dragons. But I liked this one and Fortisaxx. Placidusax is one of the cool bosses in the game. The way it all sets up is just amazing.
If you hit Dragonlord Placidusax with 2-3 rotten breaths, it helps out a ton. I also called my mimic when he was close to 50% so my mimic wouldn't die so quickly.
Beat placidulax first try with mimic, bloodhound fang and bloodflame blade....no other special buffs made that I don't normally play with. Just quick hits on his hindquarters is what seemed to work

This worked wonders for me! My Mimic saved the day for me!
Thank you for the advice. It took me 2 tries, but I manage to defeat him using your advice. You are awesome.
The Shabriri’s Woe Talisman worked fantastically. Thanks for the recommendation!
Mad respect to those who play this game pure melee / warrior, especially on bosses like Dragon Plasidusax.
why don't all playstyles deserve the same respect? just curious
Probably just the degree of difficulty @@xntrikk9189

Envoy’s longhorn +9 was absolutely ridiculous in this fight, melted dragon lord like butter
That with a Mimic great tip
Worked great!
Holy hell does this work well! My mimic and I stunned him twice! He only got off one teleport/dive bomb attack
Yep..Dragon fights the Longhorn with Mimic using Longhorn just destroys dragons..Alot of other bosses though I find it can be slow to release so I just use my spells or Eleonora Poleblade.
I used ADLS and dragongrease.
If anyones struggling with golden horse guy , just use the wild strike ash of war on the great strike with bloodflame and it should shread past him.
That made it so easy, thank you for this suggestion FightingCowboy should pin this comment
100% correct build for that battle.
this works great rhanks
There seems to be a correlation between the 2 fingers and the 2 heads of the dragon.
Thats a really good theory
Godrick fought this dragon, cut its head off, and then befriended it, but nice theory none the less.
Nah.
Also Placidusax had 4 heads, so...
But we know that frenzy was created by the merchants under the capital

Just found your channel and started watching the walkthrough videos... excellent info and quality! I'm playing with a mage and decided to attempt the Dragonlord boss. Tried for almost 3 hours using a dozen different spells, Ashes and even the Dark Moon Greatsword +10. Accidentally went in one time after using a Furlcalling Finger Remedy without canceling it first and couldn't even summon an Ash... then proceeded to absolutely destroy the Backyard Lizardlord with Adula's Moonblade spell!! Probably one of my absolute favourite boss battles ever! Really enjoyed fighting this guy and thanks for the solid strat!
Envoy’s Long Horn +10 TRIVIALIZED the Dragonlord encounter. Just, wow. Stagger after stagger.
I used that strategy and creamed him first time. Thanks for the info
Nerfed, no longer trucks
Now that is one solid tip. Thanks man.
I had the same on ps4 no notification but got the achievement
Got my platinum today, I've followed your guide right up until last episode. Thanks Cowboy, you the man!
But it is not the last episode
@@sajad_brando until the last episode * 74 lol.
I used the ancient dragon lighting spell with the mix physics that powers up my lighting
Took me to Max out the death bird weapon
@@Colossalmonkey. I was gonna say, this whole thing seems overkill when you can like 3 shot him lol
@@anewstandard.floors Your reply made me want to do a new game+ playthrough. Totally forgot about this game! Congrats on getting the boss down!
Thanks Cowboy for this walkthrough. Just killing the dragon with your suggestions. Then took a long time on the summons guy. go figure. Your assistance has made such a big help. Playing on 1.09 now and the legendary weapon trophy does come right up.
The battle with Placidusax is amazing. Not just one of the coolest fights in Elden Ring, but one of the coolest fights in gaming.
Quick tip for casters/Hybrid builds:
Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike.
I’m with you.
the dragon placidusax has to be the coolest fight until now. Really happy i got it first try
Had the same issue and after lots of attempts I went for Carian retaliation and managed to win lol
I struggled hard with that guy until I tried that gold shield cowboy used. Boost it with Alexander's charm and sacred scorpion charm. Keep him at distance he spams that fireball attack once you get the timing down you will wreck him.
Envoy's Long Horn wrecks this boss.
@@johno1544 Huge help...first time of trying with this setup
Soloing this dragon with bolt of gransax ash of war only was the hardest fight in the whole game for me but your elden ring walkthrough is so amazing! Just wanted to say thank you I’m still following it even a year on
the one ability that you didnt show or mention is that he'll occasionally toss a rock at you. That caught me off guard a couple of times.
So, I went into this fight fully expecting to take multiple tries. Turns out Black Flame Tornado is incredibly effective against Placidusax, especially when fighting alongside Tiche.
Not even 3 seconds in but I will be trying this
I got him in my 2nd try with the Dragonscale Blade +9, I stunned him but I missed the critical kinda sad about that
First try. It doesn’t matter when you watched the guide first..
Thank you so much for adding this. Made it so much easier 👍
cowboy sleeps super hard on all the black flame stuff, I think it got a buff since the walkthrough came out, because it slaps for me.
Wait really?
Bro tysm I was panicking.. but I think I still miss out on my plat..
Bro I can’t get the invasion to happen. I went down there before I fought the final boss. He didn’t show, fought the last boss still didn’t show???

@@emmanuelpena6146 I tried Rivers of Blood and it wasn’t as effective as I had hoped. Did it get nerfed? Can you tell me your stats please
Except for that lightning that blows you unerringly off the platform! Nutty
The mimic tear came in clutch for me. At the last phase when the dragon shoots that beam, the mimic suddenly took away almost all of the remaining health with bleed, allowing me the win with no flash and health left.
Same thing happened with me lol. Happened on the GodSkin Duo too.
Same I was using lighting spear and the what not and I got close to him and used the fortissax’s lighting strike and it did decent damage and then I don’t remember when but I got on his ass first try and used the strike and it took a large amount of his health, I then proceeded to die but I used it and taker’s flame as my main damage against it
I respected just to kill him and it worked first try lol
I'm dex with only 35 faith and it still melted him with 1 lightning dmg talisman
Flame, oh flame also hits him like a tank too, makes sense as it is Giantsfire after all
I've been avoiding this fight for a week, playing another character instead. So when I finally managed to work up the courage to take placidusax on I killed him on my first attempt. No flasks left and just 10% health but I got him. :) *time to strut* Awesome fight.
Thank you so much for these videos!! I swear I had an easier time beating Malenia than finding my way around this disaster of an area….
Hey cowboy thank you so so so much for this walkthrough. You have no idea how much we appreciate it.
Dragonlord Placidusax was an awesome fight and the best dragon so far.. Midir who?
It took 15 attempts, but when I finally beat Dragonlord Placidusax, I died at the same time he did! The same thing happened earlier in the game with Rennala and I lost all the runes from that fight. I don't know if they patched it to handle cases like these ones, but I was thankfully able to travel back to the Dragonlord Placidusax grace and pick up the 280k runes.
Just defeated Placidusax today! I used Latenna and very much she came in clutch during this boss fight!
That boss is unreal. Don’t much love the instakill laser show just like Midir which ruined my life on more than one occasion. But that was intense. What a great boss fight.
Like he said use Uplifting Aromatics. I had to dump most of my others so I had 10 of them free. I survived two lazer shots with it.
Tiche's damage during that fight was absolutely insane....makes me wanna try the black knife ash of war
That tree sentinel made me time everything perfectly. So satisfying 👍
I’m half your age and your comment saved me a lot of trouble 😂
0:50 I was wondering where this Ancient Dragon is who lies beyond time, as it is written in the description of Ancient dragon smithing stone and the somber one. Thanks, Cowboy.
Wooo!! My favorite dragon fight is finally here!
First time I've used perfume bottles and they were worth their weight in gold. Thank you for the tip!
Right there. This is the episode. No trouble whatsoever until now. Damn, man, Placidusax and that Dragon Knight kicked my ass.
Tried out the fight with various combs at first really enjoyed then 3 Ancient dragon lightning spell was all it took to obliterate him plus i had lightning talisman and flask too.
Thanks for the info, worked like a charm!
At the Roundtable you can also talk to that Spirit Tuner by the fire. Then you get new dialog with Smithing Master Hewg
I went to a grace and started putting the legendary weapons in storage and after about 5, the achievement popped. Never leveled any of them.
