Recording session Jabo played the drums...clyde was great as was Jb's other drummers..Clyde got recognition for funky drummer break..but his work on Session I got the feelin is best..peace
He didn't. He was always going to play there. Kevin Wite and Tom Atkins had the idea of televising it to keep the peopke off the streets. Theyhad to pay Brown an extra $60,000 but they were the geniuses, notbrown. He just did what he was going to be paid to do anyway.
@@FINKFINK100 No, the comment suggests Brown put this whole thing together from scratch. he didn't. Kevin White and Tom Atkins put it together. And they had to pay Brown extra for it. Watch Foul Quince's brilliant video on the topic.
I'll get shot......but Jackie Wilson would give James Brown a "RUN FOR THE MONEY"....I've seen both back in the 60's nobody and I mean nobody could follow them ...they had to "close the show" when you left their shows you were exhausted !!!
Straight 🔥 that base holds everything together with a straight raw lick!! Get it Together. The record version is like a straight jam session. But this live version is friggin' bananas! The is responsible for like 3 genres of music. Mt. Rushmore
Unbelievable! In my opinion, if it wasn’t for JB, Prince, Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz wouldn’t be. They all paid homage to James Brown. Have to respect them for that. Also, Jimi Hendrix and Bootsy Collins came out of the JB band.

He did a lot of things marketing wise and showmanship wise that had never been done before. The hype men on stage, etc. Elvis did some of that in the 70's but I think James Brown may have done it first. The nicknames and monikers "godfather of soul", "hardest working man in show business".
I want to get this track programmed onto a memory chip and surgically inserted in my brain so that I can have this funk running through my brain forever.

James was riding lightening and the lightening was THE JAMES BROWN BAND !!!!!! The hurricane inside the lightening is JAMES !!! Ladies and gentlemen…. You are witnessing…. A FUNK STORM !!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG !!!!!!!!
To put this performance in context, it was the night after the assassination of Martin Luther King. Boston officials worked with JB to give this performance in an attempt to quell the anger in the community and prevent civil unrest. If I remember correctly, it worked. That is why the performance was recorded and the quality is so poor. It was a last minute decision and there wasn’t enough time to prepare.
Oh that's one of favorite one by James Brown there was a time when I used to dance🎉❤ but my but my but my real favorite one say it loud I'm Black and I'm proud❤ that is very very strong message that went over a lot of our heads🎉
what about the sound quality? and why throw away the concert in pieces? This concert was posted on RUclips a long time ago and the sound is much better quality
Corner Stone, National Treasure and the Godfather of Soul. Camera man did not have camera on him enough at right time so we missed some of those unduplicated moves.
Oh, imagine if this concert was in *COLOR!!!* (but WGBH didn’t have time to rent out a color mobile production truck from New York even on short notice, so they wheeled in their black-and-white unit)
You know I'm not doubting what you're saying but PBS was originally called "National Educational Television", may have been a little bit slower getting into color compared to commercial TV. The French Chef, Julia Child's 1st series beginning in 1963, didn't go color till 1970. However, she also ceased production of it in 66 and who knows if TFC may have gone into color before 70. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood debuted in 68, same 1st season B&W.
Name a harder, tighter, more on point backing band than this......🦗🦗🦗🦗 And JB kept them that way thru numerous interchangeable muscians over the years.
I never heard get it together before. I was always more interested in the James Brown of the 1970s. Are there other live versions of this song because it is really funky.
There's another at the Apollo from the month previous but it's labeled as "There Was A Time" for some reason. As far as I know there are no other recorded performances of the song unfortunately.
The Apollo Vol 2 version is fantastic, the sound quality is great. On the deluxe cd the medley is correctly listed as Let Yourself Go ,There Was A Time, I Feel Alright.

The change was to "There Was A Time" not "I Got The Feelin'"
He’s an icon no 1 he gat all he could to be the best performer ever
