Matt, here in the UK we have a saying Jack of all, King of none. You are Jack of all, King of ALL! And your work ethic is second to none. Always look forward to viewing your output. Thank you.
@@PryorSebastian My yard is 3 times the size of his, and my basement is 4 times the size of his and I live in a major metropolitan area. I guess size is relative.
I think you are doing an excellent job on your trailer. You would not have gotten one built that good from the best trailer manufacturer in the country. That goes for the sawmill also and the size is fantastic.
Looking good, Matt. You're so much more ambitious than I am now or ever was (71 now). Even if I had built something like this I would have painted in sections and taken forever. Stay safe. Bill
This Trailer Has Been a lot of work Matt.. From the Build to the Paint .. Then Take back apart then Paint Then Put it All back Together Wow .. Sucks you didn't have a Spot to do throughout the winter inside That would of been ideal for ya.. BUT Your GETTING HER DONE !! Big Thumb's UP To Ya Sir !! 100 % Real Talk.. Thank You for Sharing ...
Quality wiring and grommets! This trailer will last a lifetime. Very nice finishing touches. Love seeing momma and the baby controlling he drone. We have other multitalented people in the family I see haha.
Rarely do you see trailers with this much attention to detail in the wiring, home made or from a manufacture. Having been there fixing countless trailer wiring issues and vehicle plugs, I can tell you that you will have a day where you tell yourself, "I'm so glad I had the foresight to do this the right way." The trailer is looking great Matt!
@@mcremona I get that. I have the same one you have now, like it a ton. I got rid of my charcoal filter one years ago. it's not something you need often in woodworking.
Great looking job Matt, sure enjoy seeing the great work you’re doing on your trailer. The extra pains and trouble you have gone through will pay off for generations to come! Thanks for sharing with us and allowing us to ride along with you on this project. Fred.
The wiring! ♥♥♥ There's not a video on RUclips for seven-flats wiring, brake wiring, and light wiring that is worth a hoot for complete noobs with a dual axle. I'm hoping this will help. I bought a trailer back when you refurbished your old one. The wiring is a tad janky. I love your builds. That red pops! If anyone hits that, they're blind!
The paint looks so much better than what a galvanized finish would have been. I hope it holds up well to sliding logs, but I guess it's easy enough to repaint a scratched spot. If you go over this in the video I'm sorry for commenting after only watching 1/3 of the video.
You cut down trees, you make them into lumber, you do woodworking, you weld, you paint, you build a saw mill.........you are a real man's-man. If I ever see you I'm going to buy you a beer.
Now I would be sitting back trying to remember if I forgot to do something before I reassemble and put it on the ground. Of course I would remember 3 days later! Nice build.
I used conduit for exposed runs of wire on my trailer. No exposed strands of wire to snag on something. Just short exposed sections where the wire turns or penetrates a beam.
With my personal experience of using POR as a bottom coat only you will want to put a protective coat over it. It chips and scratches very easily leaving unprotected metal. While it’s clean you should give a good heavy duty undercarriage protection. You will thank yourself for doing it now. Trailer looks awesome she came out great.
I've had a difference experience with it. I've had to grind through it to do some welding. That experience alone is why I continue to use it. It was so well bonded to that steel.
I always run ground wires and never ground to the frame because grounding to the frame always losses contact over time. And never ground through the hitch . If you see trailer's with the lights flickering going down the road it is most likely there trying to ground through the hitch. I use two wire drop cords for marker lights because the outer coating helps keep the wires from chaffing. And it is easy to run . 😊 hope that information might help.
Yeah, I can imagine a lot of us who have "wiring" experience were thinking the same while viewing that part of the video. It is very enjoyable watching this trailer being built and the care he takes with its construction. I especially like that he built this from experience with his other trailer. He checked all the boxes in his wish list. Well Done!
run a couple grounding wires incase corrosion gets one or two.. theres no need to waste a bunch of money running ground wires to every light.. adding that many wires/connections isnt going to make it any more reliable youll just have a mess of wires with twice as many spots for the connection to be broken... the frame does a great job of acting as a ground for everything thats why every single automobile uses it as such.. if youre that worried about reliability im sure you can weld a stainless stell stud to the frame and use a stainless nut and eyelet on the connection followed up with a glob of grease and weather cover to make it last forever but really a 1/4 20 bolt threaded into the frame is fine
Matt. Spray the bottom of the trailer with a mixture of half baby oil. Half WD40. This will give you winter protection that doesn’t wash off without hot water.
Matthew this has been such an enjoyable build to watch! The quality and attention to detail is fantastic. I’m curious to see how much this tank of a trailer weighs empty! Thanks phor making and sharing the video.
Hi Matthew congratulations it is now starting to look like a trailer.on one thing I would have painted the wheel arches inside black make the wheels look great you all take care roll on the next trailer vlog 😀😀👍
WOW very impressive, having built several trailers and wired many more, great attention to detail. Love the rotisserie, id prob add a receiver hitch in the back for the rotisserie, i also weld black pipe underneath to run the wires,
I use the same under-body primer paint, PAR-15, for my outdoor wood furniture. It works great. Put two coats of the PAR-15 on and then two coats of a good outdoor latex paint on chairs I built and the finish has lasted 10+ years.
I would love to be your neighbor! I would have a lawn chair permanently angled toward your backyard with a cooler and grill next to me and I would just sit back and be fascinated by your work. Exceptionally done!!!! 👏👏👏
great video Matt.... maybe take some automotive seam sealer on all the joints underneath to help with keeping moisture out as there is no way to paint. Love the trailer......BEAUTIFUL!!!
I don't know if it was my prep or not, but when I built a Jeep for rock crawling, the POR15 was a huge waste of time and money, it stuck to me better than it did the Jeep. I actually got great results from Rustoleum in the end. Plus I could just carry a few cans with me and instantly seal any scratches I put in the Jeep on the trail.
You have no idea what a relief it is to see the paint going on at last - and it's not even my trailer!
I was afraid we were going to have a flipping birthday for an unfinished trailer.
I am a Korean viewer.
Thanks for the video.
I hope you and your family are healthy.

Your attention to the small details of the wiring are what will give this trailer a lifetime of faultless service to you.
Nice work Matt!
Thanks Greg!
I will say your a clever guy, and with that top coat you will never loose your trailer in the woods . Happy trails
thanks Mike!
It amazes me the giant things you build in such a tiny space.
Wtf, his place isn’t tiny at all, it’s huge by nz standards

Pretty much the best and most properly done trailer build series I've ever seen and on all of you tube!!!!
Now that's a great looking trailer! Excellent work!

Fantastic fabrication and finish work.

Dern fine work, Matt!
Great work! Thanks for taking the time to make, film, edit and share.

I would have been very tempted to paint over it anyways
I do like the multi colored layers too, it's like milk painting a trailer.
Heavy Duty Man! Looks awesome. 👍
I got to say wow on the way you put the trailer so you can spin it around that is really neat
