I only recently learnt that the engines were modified to provide thrust, that is how it achieved it's speed. The standard Lynx was not able to achieve this speed.
How? That would be a forward speed of 760ft/s, Mach 0.68, under standard sea level conditions. What Mach number would the forward traveling, rotor blade tip experience? Supersonic. Your rotor would be experiencing Supersonic flow at the rotor tip, transitioning to Transonic mid span, and high subsonic at the root. This on the forward traveling blade. The aft traveling rotor blade would be entirely subsonic. With a transition between the two flow regime's somewhere along the blade, and along the entire blade at some angle of rotation. Every single revolution. This would be a stability and controllability nightmare. Nearly impossible to predict performance accurately enough for a project go ahead. And it would be obscenely and ear shatteringly noisy, to the point personnel inside would go deaf, people on the ground would petition the government to smelt it down to raw alloy. And enemies would hear it coming before it even crossed their neighboring country. Dumb. This is many of the reasons why the V-22 Osprey is a thing. And the Harrier. And F-35C. If you want a 450ktas hovering craft, start with one of these concepts.

Hedge hopping was interesting the first few times and the noise when it banked severly. It was my favourite of the army helicopters.
