It’s so telling that Lyle still sounds proud he helped save his brother from the abuse (which I think is valid), and Erik just blames himself for ruining their lives ...
    it was the parents fault.
    Full stop.
But neither could 100% place blame on their parents.
It’s so sad that they sound like they even wanted their dads approval even after he died. If that doesn’t show how brainwashed and abused those boys were.

Honestly the sexual abuse is so grotesque i think the physical/emotional abuse gets overlooked which is what makes the mom "more forgivable." It shocked me to watch the trail and hear how she'd lock them (and their cousin) in the room and not let them out even to use the bathroom so they go in bowls. Getting mad about the bed wetting and rubbing the brother face in it like a dog or forcing him under her bed to lay in ferret urine/feces for hours. Also whatever weird reason she want them to find her naked body attractive. All of that made me realize it was about much more than just allowing the abuse

The rape claims of many different people (kids at the time) against José,all the witnesses recounts of events never changing their story, the letter Erik send to his cousin detailing the abuse before the murders, José having pornographic videos and magazines(gay ones) (even showing it to his neighbour, while enjoying watching it), the notes of kitty menendez therapy written"that she was hiding sick and embarrassing secrets", 56 testimonies telling how evil José was. Leslie talking sh!t about the judge is something I will definitely be replaying over and over again. What a badasss b!tch. This documentary made me emotional. The fact that ALL of their family members believe them, including their aunts, uncles, and even grandmother speaks volumes about José and Kitty’s relationship with their children and the abuse that went on in that house hold. Even if Kitty herself was scared of Jose she as their mother has a duty to protect them. My mother’s friend had an abusive husband who was absolutely horrible to her, but the MOMENT he laid a hand on their children she kicked the sh!t out of him and called the cops saying “if they didn’t come get him she would kill him for laying a hand on her son”. THAT is what a mother is supposed to do. Leslie fought for them like a mother more than their ‘mother’ ever did in her life. If I’m not mistaken either that “prosecutor” might have even said or implied that “boys can’t be r@ped because they don’t have the ‘proper’ equipment”. Don’t quote me on that, because I’m not 100% sure, but seeing her reaction to their testimony I wouldn’t put it past her. Also I hope that judge was fired for his bias. Even if he didn’t believe them, he as an enforcer of the law and the overseer of the courtroom should be TOTALLY IMPARTIAL to the trial and shouldn’t favor either the defense or prosecution. It’s absolutely shameful. Even if you don’t believe them at all, I think most people would still believe they deserve a second trial due to the amount of bullsh!t that was stacked against them by the state because they needed to ‘win’ a case. Our ‘justice system’ is absolutely f!cked.

Los Angeles County’s district attorney said Thursday he’ll recommend that a judge resentence Lyle and Erik Menendez nearly 30 years after the brothers were convicted of the murders of their parents - a recommendation that he said would make them eligible for immediate parole.
“After very careful review of all arguments made from people on both sides of this equation, I came to a place where I believe under the law resentencing is appropriate and I am going to recommend that to a court tomorrow,” District Attorney George Gascón said at an afternoon news conference in Los Angeles.

Anyone who is still on the parents side is an immediate red flag to me. No questions asked. After all these years, and more potential evidence coming out, along with MULTIPLE accusations made about the same man, from different people is enough to tell me that something is sus.
Let me ask you this, is a father storing up multiple naked photographs of his 6 year old underage children, then locking them up in his bedroom drawer, in a tightly sealed envelope normal to you?
Or is gripping your child’s crotch in photos, while having him sit on your lap normal? Or how about the fact that Lyle looks deathly uncomfortable in every single shot with his dad touching him.
Or how about those medical records of unexplained blisters and bruises on the back of 7 year old Erik’s throat hmm? Are you not gonna at the very least question that?
Wake up! Wealthy individuals get away with this kind of stuff all the time. There’s no reason to be defending Jose and Kitty, they got exactly what they deserved. People who say, “well the parents aren’t around to defend themselves,” but you’d think that a child molester would admit to it wouldn’t you?
There could be literal 30 minute footage of the father abusing his son and people would still say it’s photoshopped. At this point it’s a confirmation bias.

    • @hillgait
      @hillgait Месяц назад

Exactly people are questioning this new letter that came out saying it could be written after the murders.
This letter just adds to their case of abuse and SA.
This isn't just circumstantial evidence. Just look at all the credible experts on the defense's side.
If its false the burden to disprove this is towards the state. They didn't have any experts to disprove any abuse at all.
We allow abusers to kill their victims and get away with. OJ Simpson and a current short trial in SC with Craig Lewis. The victim's police statement was not allowed as evidence in trial and she died months later from the arson burns from her abusive husband.
How much proof do the brothers need? You can't chime in on this topic unless you watched most of the first trial.

And don't forget the DA was going for the death penalty... it's absolutely infuriating. Remember Aileen Wuornos? She was put to death when she shouldn't have.
Imagine how many people have been wrongfully convicted over the years. Time have changed and those people should be retried. There are othwr immates like them, who are not a danger to society but a danger to those who s abuse children.

1:04:28 Ok, so the majority of what I know about him came from a podcast I found earlier this year called Respect the Dead. The premise is that the hosts take notable, usually terrible people who are no longer alive, and talk about their lives. A lot of the time they make fun of the person, but there have been some heavier episodes, including the 2 part OJ episodes they did this summer. Although iirc they didn’t really go into the trial as much, because it’s been talked about so many times before. But they go into OJ’s life before and after, including into his relationship with Nicole.

In defense of us older people who were around during the trial - the news people lied to us. Everyone in entertainment lied to us. I didn't have court tv, they told us these were greedy spoiled brat murderers. They said there was no way they were abused.
Now with all this being brought up, I've watched the 1st trial and it's infuriating that they lied to us. I feel so horrible and guilty that this injustice exists and I just didn't question any of it. And can't do anything about it.
