Thanks for the review. I bought a Mevo+ over a year ago and I can’t be happier. I went with Mevo+ because of initial cost. The Skytrack comes with several annual subscription options and the Mevo+ comes with a lifetime subscription to a 5 course IOS version of E6. I also purchased a lifetime subscription to Awesome golf, which is not possible with Skytrack.
@@Jarhead0331 I put off buying ProPackage until fall. If you want to work on your swing it’s a must have for me. If you just want to play SIM games it’s not worth it.
I just had to return my garmin r10 cause i was hitting out on my back porch (only place with high enough ceilings/clearance) into a net. It was getting extremely terrible numbers even after making sure it was on the same height as the golf mat, 8 ft from garmin --> ball, 8 ft from ball --> net. Have you hit this into a net outdoors or nah? I don't want to have to get a 2k device just to have to return it. That's why I was kind of leaning towards the skytrak (also cause i suck and I can put the net a little closer...stopping some of those shankies).
I have had my SkyTrak for a year now. Love it. Ball speed and spin rates are king. If you want club head speed purchase the $200 PRGR to sit behind the ball. I don’t have room for the distance Mevo+ needs. I’m very happy with my purchase.
I have a Mevo+ and love it. Having a lefty in the house, it is super easy for everyone to play. Really like the software options too. Awesome Golf is GREAT for the whole family.
Very fair comparison. When I was looking to upgrade from my old Mevo (not + version) that I used at the range to something I could use in my garage, I went with Skytrak. I love it and it suits my situation perfectly. But there are three primary drawbacks: 1) Device alignment is so critical to get right and takes time each session to get it dialed in, which is a manual/trial and error process. 2) Skytrak does not capture angle of attack and club face at impact data which would be helpful for some of the swing changes I'm trying to practice. 3) My gamer driver has an all white clubhead which seems to really confuse the Skytrak cameras and results in wayward ball flight readings. I imagine that these would not be issues for Mevo+ users.
Why not wait till the end of the month and test the Mevo plus when the Fusion Tracking is released? Also the extra data parameters for Mevo Plus will be released February 1.
Great analysis - I really wish I had seen this review before I bought a Skytrak on Nov 26, 2021, from Amazon, for the purpose of practice … but you hadn’t made it yet. I have a net off my patio in the back yard where I wanted to use it. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that the photographic nature of this unit just won’t work properly outdoors. I’m also really disappointed that the Skytrak support people wouldn’t tell me this, either. They kept saying “do this, do that, it will “help.” I finally decided it’s just not going to work no matter how many screens I put up. The return window had closed. I ended up selling it to the golfstixvalue guys for $1200, basically an $800 bath. I’m now waiting for the Garmin R10 to come available - at $600, it looks like what my patio needs.
I wish you had included the Garmin Approach R10. At $600 can it be as good as the Mevo+? I have the original Mevo but without spin axis I never use it.
Brilliant information. I chose the Mevo + because of indoor and outdoor capability plus the E6 software at no yearly cost. I have used the Mevo for 3 months now and am very satisfied with it. I used it in and out doors. Only have positive comments.
Technically the Titleist RCT aren’t approved for the Mevo+ at this time. Hence the metallic dot helps pick up the spin rate better on the balls. I’d be interested to see if you get better spin results on the Mevo+ using the metallic dots in another run of comparing units. Or if you still have the data, just run the Mevo+ with the dots and see if they are closer to the trackman spin rates.
I use my skytrak outside all the time with no issue though its on a covered patio so no direct sunlight. But it is bright and have never had an issue with misreads. I could have used either unit with the size of my patio but Skytrak allowed me to use a smaller area so it could remain multi use.
Couple of things you didn’t cover: a) what data parameters are provided by each LM and whether they are measured or calculated, and b) with Mevo+ launching fusion tracking free update which will use the camera in conjunction with the radar, I suspect it will improve further on accuracy and possibly making it way more superior than Skytrak.
I bought Mevo+ for my home simulator. Paired with TGC 2019. I love it. The only down side is short chip shots and putting. It doesn't read short chip shots and putting some times. New firmware will be out tomorrow wich is Jan 26th. Hope it gets better.
Interesting. I have a Mevo+ and it has worked pretty well for even small 10-20ft chip shots in E6 (missing maybe 1 in 10). One difference is the setup angle of 12 deg for E6 instead of 18deg for the FS software, which I believe is critical for tracking chips and putts. I don’t have a mat for putting so I can’t speak to that yet.
I don't know how I missed this video. Great content. Just bought a home with an RV garage which I will use portion of it as a golf hitting bay. I am leaning towards SkyTrak.
Based on your review, I’d be more likely to go with Skytrack. I like the visual display better and I have a tight space for home practice. Great review and insight into these units. Thanks Mr. SG :)
The Mevo+ has been great for me. It's easy to use and I like how it works with E6. I can tell that the spin numbers are a little off inside but for keeping the game sharp during winter, there are no complaints. Usability outdoors was a major factor. I need to know what my numbers are like with the balls that I play during the season.
I've had skytrak for a year for my indoor studio and I use the free driving range. I'm really happy with it. I think I'm going to add creative golf to it soon.
I had the Skytrak and sold it. Bought the Mevo+ and have never looked back. I am left-handed and don't need to move the unit at all now when playing with those wrong handers :) Best decision I make. I also agree with a comment below about the new upgrades coming at the end of the month to the Mevo+ that will really set it apart from Skytrak I think.
I'm curious how you sold yours. There doesn't seem to be a secondary market. I had mine set up in the living room, but my wife has banished it from the house. :)
@@gregjohnson8937 Thanks, hadnt thought of that. Were you able to transfer the registration to the new owner so they could take advantage of the advanced features?
I have the Skytrak in my garage and love it. Because of my limited space it was my only option. My set up is a gaming computer with 22 inch touch screen on the wall behind where I swing. I have a Rukkett net that you take down and put up quickly with a 70inch TV mounted on the wall behind the net.
Not sure if you'll see this, but how are you liking your set up still? I was debating something like that in my small garage as well with a net and flat screen behind it, but noone seems to talk about that as an option. Just a hitting screen or net with tv off to the side somewhere?
I have the Mevo plus and it has been very good....connection problems do occur with E6 sometimes, but with TGC it connects easily. It has given very accurate numbers as tested against a trackman. I have a large room in my basement so the distance from Mevo to ball and ball to screen aren't an issue.
Great review! Why not compare skytrak vs mevo and skytrak vs trackman simultaneously? Probably not a big deal for Matt since his swing is consistent . I’ve had almost 0 missed shots on skytrak since I started putting the ball on the red dot for higher lofted shots and the red dot an inch or 2 in front of ball for driver . Every shot the ball logo has to face the skytrak . Mevo probably easier - just position ball on golf mat and swing away
Having had the SkyTrak for a little over a year, we spent more time on tech support trying to get it to read my shots accurately than actually playing golf. I've tried everything from lighting/ball position/better backdrops/ cleaner well-marked golf balls. The misreads were way too frequent, it just wouldn't pick up the shot every 4 to 5 balls. Also, I've found the distance was a decent bit short. For myself, I couldn't get Driver to go over 230 yards carry where normally I'm around 270-280. From what I've found through all the troubleshooting people with higher clubhead speeds tend to have more misreads so if you are a long hitter or have a higher clubhead speed I'd be cautious with getting skytrak. Even my short Irons were 20 yards short which is incredibly frustrating when you're playing on a sim like TGC 2019. When using the range the distances don't matter as much, I believe the flight paths were pretty accurate for what I felt. Overall my whole family was pretty disappointed with SkyTrak not sure if we had a bad unit but we are looking to get the Mevo+ instead hoping it will be more consistent and accurate.
I have had SkyTrak for over 3 years and we have the similar results - ours is very accurate with irons, but the longer clubs not so much, especially driver. We don't even use driver with SkyTrak as the accuracy was so poor. Would love to hear your results with Mevo+.
@@akchoirboy678 As far as accuracy goes, I took the Mevo+ to a local range where they had shot tracers and tracking already there. The Mevo was giving almost identical readings to the range's system for every club in the bag. I think the variance was only a yard or two if any, even with driver. Ball flights looked identical on both software as well. We are still setting up our indoor range so haven't had much testing there but am really pleased with the mevo+ on the outdoor range testing. On the few I"ve hit indoors its looking pretty solid overall but again haven't done much testing on it in the indoor setting. Side note as well, there has yet to be a single misread on the mevo. The skytrak we had would not even register a shot was made frequently. The mevo has picked up every single shot and we've yet to see funky reading either.
I've been using a Skytrak for over a year and just picked up a Mevo+ in anticipation of the Pro release. I have a makeshift hitting bay in my garage and I'm at the minimum recommended distances for the Mevo+. As a result, the ball flight isn't as accurate as the Skytrak (based on the numbers I see on the simulator compared to the actual yardage/ball flight I see when I play a round). I can, and have, run both monitors simultaneously, so I can do a direct comparison between them. The software for the Skytrak isn't as robust as I'd like. Sometimes it locks up when you're trying to retrieve data. Sometimes it's finicky when you are trying to connect to it. Getting it to run in "Network" mode requires dancing between Wi-Fi devices which can be frustrating. Once it's set in Network mode it's pretty stable... until it's not. I've tried running it off a PC, an Android device and an iPad. I prefer the iPad. The Challenges are really more of a social tool. The Game Improvement tools are cool. I like to use the Practice session with the target set to greens and in random distance mode. I just wish that one of the target greens was shaped like a target that you could adjust the size. The Mevo+ is frustrating to set up because you have to pair it to your device every time you use it. I wish it had something in the software that would remember the pairing. Plus, it will timeout if it sits idle too long. The default setting is pretty short, so you can miss a swing because it turned off the radar while you were setting up your shot. You can change the timeout timing, but it would nicer if there was an audio or visual warning that the device was about to timeout. However, the reason that it will turn off the radar is because the battery isn't very big, especially compared to the Skytrak. You get club data from the Mevo+ that you don't get from the Skytrak. That's why I got it. With the Skytrak, you can assume club path from the ball flight, but the Mevo+ will tell you angle of attack. I want the Pro so I can also get face angle. The Mevo+ game improvement skills tests are fun. I was failing miserably until I realized that it was looking for carry distance instead of total distance. Since I only use them indoors, I can't comment on outdoor use, but I would feel really self-conscious about using the Mevo+ outdoor. Since the Skytrak would sit in front of me, inside the hitting area, I wouldn't worry about it getting it others' way. The Mevo+ would be sitting way outside of my peripheral vision and possibly in the path of other range users. Someone could grab it and disappear with it if I were distracted long enough. I have not paid for the 3rd party golf simulations that let you play rounds at famous courses around the world. I have tried to play the "free" simulations that come with the devices and can't get them to recognize the launch monitors. The Skytrak worked for a few "rounds" but then it stopped. I would be seriously annoyed if I paid for a subscription and the interface was finicky. That's my $.02.
I think it would be beneficial to discuss the "misread" or even lack of read potential on both units. I had the SkyTrak and recently upgraded to the GC3 because at higher swing/ball speeds I was having a lot of non-reads. The SkyTrak is also very tough to capture some shots because of the laser dot ball placemeny system. I noticed on wedges I had to play the ball a little forward of the dot, and driver was almost an inch behind to get consistent reads. I personally like the photometric systems more than radar, which is why I went Foresight, but I would think the Mevo is much more consistent in capturing every shot which is the whole reason of getting a launch monitor.
Great review. I tried a bunch of sub 2k units before settling on the Mevo+. I did not, however, try the SkyTrak….I’ve had my Mevo+ about 6 months now. It has the potential to be a better unit than the SkyTrak, BUT, you need space. I have enough space to use the short indoor setup (8 foot to the unit, 8 foot minimum to a net)…it works well for everything but woods…and I’m an average driver swinger at 95-98mph. You need much more distance with higher swing speeds to get more accurate data then…I don’t have that…The Mevo+ does provide a ton more data, but I’m not exactly sold that it’s very accurate (e.g., AoA and spin seem way off even with RCT balls - though RCT ball software hasn’t been released yet as of Dec 15, 2022, but Titleist has posted RCT balls work with Mevo+. So waiting for that update), which irks my OCD…so, I may wind up getting rid of it and going with SkyTrak for the space reason, and even though the data is more limited, it seems to be accurate for what it provides.
I have had skytrak for over a year and love it. Biggest factor in determining which one to get is environment. Long room from mevo to screen/net get mevo. I mostly use it for practice and driving range feature. Do not really do sim golf
I bought the mevo plus about 6 months ago. Have a big room so that one reason I got it. Love the FS app and the FS skills app. Easy to link it to my iPhone and send it to a projector to display on the hitting screen. Really having a lot of fun with it. E6 golf courses are good too. Thanks for the video. Makes me feel better about my personal choice.
Missed the details regarding virtual course play. That’s a big one…who has the best catalogue or bolt on software options? I have a sky track and use E6 for my rounds…Sky Track also integrates with WGT as well…
Question: When using either unit at the driving range how accurate are the results (spin rate/side spin/launch angle etc.) if not using the Titleist metal balls. Would like to see an A vs B comparison using Practice Balls vs the special Titleist balls. Really enjoy your channel and have seen improvements/confidence in my game.
I don't know if you still need this information or not, but a metal dot or titleist metal ball is only required if the mevo+ is used indoor. When mevo+ can track the whole flight it does not need a sticker to have a accurate spin reading
Great review, one thing I noticed that contradicted the set up manual from flightscope. The unit not only needs to be the same height as the hitting area, but also the space in between them is to be at the same height. Not sure if this would change any of the number to be more accurate however.
I usually run my mevo+ on the ground and hit off a Matt that is about 1” thick without issue. There is a setting for height of the surface you hit from, and mine is kept at 1”. That aside, I have had issues setting it up in outdoor environments where the ground is not fairly level. In some cases, it was unusable due to uneven terrain, like when camping on the side of a lake😂
Thanks for the straightforward review. I’m leaning toward the Mevo Flightscope. Additionally, I really liked the screen you hit into. Can you give me some information on your screen?
A good fair comparison. I bought a mevo+ because (at the time of purchase) skytrak calculates swing speed. It is not a measured parameter. I was surprised to hear the numbers were comparable. Maybe because the strike is very consistent.
I just went through this. I ordered the GC3, because I had a small space and I needed the high-speed camera data. However, the Skytrak subscription really drives up the cost over the long term. That’s why I decided the GC3 costs was not that expensive when comparing to Skytrak.
I liked the mevo+ best. My room allows for 8 feet behind the ball but only about 10' from ball to net. How does that effect the info. I noticed on the mevo+ web that it has an indoor and indoor short setup. Not sure what that means. Thanks. Hope to hear back.
Great review. Thanks for the info. I'm looking to purchase a hitting screen just like the one you are using in the video. Would you be able to provide information on where you purchased it?
Do you have comparisons of launch monitors for the outside . My concern is the outside ranges , or on course, the ball flight outside , not in a net or screen .the ball flight is different inside then the outside , testing clubs at a golf shop, they say there is a 10 to whatever yardage difference , is that a thing or , so what is the better launch monitor for ranges to get more accurate readings
I have a skytrak coming Monday. I was more concerned about space and worried about interference as I’ll be set up in a garage with an A/C unit right next to the hitting area. It’s also tried and true and I like the look of the interface better. Hopefully I’m not kicking myself a couple months down the road.
Great video. I had a Skytrack but moved onto a GC2. GC2 is more accurate and more reliable .I.e no missed shots. You did not mention the need to place the ball on the red lazer dot with Skytrack which is impossible to do outdoors and a fiddle indoors.
GC2 is around 3500USD on the used market. No reason to buy a new one with GC3 out since any club parameters it doesn't provide can be gotten with GCQ for roughly the same amount as GC2+HMT.
How big of a deal is EMF? We’ve got batteries for our solar system as well as the related BMS in the garage, is there a way to know if that will cause issues?
This is a great comparison! I Last year I purchased the Swing Caddy SC300i after seeing your review. It works just fine but does capture 9 iron through wedges well at all. Plus the spin rates are not reliable. I was looking to upgrade so this video was very helpful
Just starting my research into these technologies. Mevo has been in the tracking industry for 3ducation and find them familiar by name. I do not know about other brands at all. So I would be a little biased. I would like to know how they connect with the projector with the software.
Great review...Have not tried either yet but I have a Earnest Sports ES 15 panel and will be getting a B 1 to take to the range...ES 15 is set up at home....Both work great and the price point some what near the two mention......
Can’t afford either. It ticks me off when you buy a machine and then have to buy the technology. My gmc truck was sold to me with all the technology but what I wasn’t told is that you have to buy the technology. Would love to have one but maybe lessons would benefit me more. Thanks Matt, love ya brother.
I have been saving up to buy one of these 2, still have been back and forth on it. This video was a great help, sounds like Mevo+ will work for me better. I would be curious to see your take on the Optishot 2 system, which seems like a neat 'entry-level' simulator/launch monitor but I've seen mixed reviews on durability and accuracy. You always have a great take on things, would be very interested to see your conclusions on the specific system. Thanks Matt! Keep up the good work!
I had an Optishot2 to start with before going to the Mevo+. The Optishot was a good starter but in 9 months I had to send it back twice for repairs. The infrared lights get damaged from the jolts from the club. I even purchased the JagmanJoe turf top (thicker) and had it on from day one, but still had problems. I am very happy with the Mevo+ and there is an upgrade coming after the PGA show to what they call "fusion tracking". It integrates the radar with the already installed camera to track the ball flight even better. They will also be introducing the "pro package" with the fusion tracking to give more/better data tracking that will be similar to Trackman data. But be aware the fusion tracking will be a free download to the software but the pro package will be a one time extra cost to get the better data. Hope this helps.
I've had a SkyTrak for about a year now and really enjoy it. I'm having a bit of difficulty with it picking up 9i-wedges in terms of carry distance. Most everything else it picks up great. Seems that the higher lofted clubs have about a 10 yd shortage on it. I'm going to play with the settings to see if I can figure it out. Great review. Would love to see the numbers compared side by side between TM, SK and Mevo.
I wish you added shot shape. I have heard on several reviews that comparing the two the Skytrak did the opposite of what the Trackman picked up I.e. fade or draw.
I did a pretty comprehensive video about which one to get about a year ago. There are also some very important setup factors for users to understand along with many other details. Good brief overview and nice video but there is a LOT more to it than this so perspective buyers should just learn more that's all. Cheers
Like the skytrak. But I really wish I had smash factor and appoarch angle I came in at the ball like trackman. My club speed is really high, but I don't get to see those numbers. So I have to look at ball spins, height, ball speed and determine it was bad contact on the ball or undercut to much.
Mevo comes with a free 6 course E6 connect with no additional fee. Anything you get for Skytrak is going to cost more money. Make sure to research how much before committing.
I have a sky trak and love it. The only thing I do not like about it is that I swing over the top as my miss. I work on it a lot. The drill I do is to place a headcover or use a tee just outside the ball to make sure I do not hit it. The headcover seems to get in the way of the sky trak and cause It to not read well. If the unit was able to be placed behind me It would work much better. I ended up using the driving range tee for my irons as my tool and it works great. For the driver I place a golf tee short of the ball and just outside and it works too. Love the skytak just a heads up
Hi Matt. 2 questions: What data elements does each unit capture, and Which unit was most consistent in the data - i.e. smallest variances rather than 'accuracy'? If I know a unit is CONSISTENTLY a certain amount (distance, angles, spin, etc) more or less than the base-line (TM), I can allow for that. But if they are inconsistent .... Cheers
Mevo + has been superb, taking it to the range is awesome, especially with friends in driving contest, when paired with iPhone it calls out distance and we know immediately who’s buying beers 🍻 Matt, you should cover “putting” this has always been a little struggle for these monitors ⛳️
Chipping seems ok on my setup, maybe your Mevo angle is not right? Putting for me has not been good, it’s getting better with firmware updates, but not there yet
I've had a Skytrak for a couple years now. The only problem I'm having, is that It doesn't always read my shot. 1 out of 5 will not be read. It's a bit frustrating because I have it's always been wondering if I should change to something more reliable.
Great review. Love your channel. Did you find AOA was consistent w/ T4? I feel AOA is a great data point for golfers and is often overlooked. Thoughts?
I’ve been playing with my Mevo Plus in a short indoor environment for the last 4 months. Pretty accurate with all clubs but the driver. I wonder if sky track would read driver shots better?
Informative review Matt. Unfortunately at this stage I have neither but rest assured I'll be watching your review when I'm ready for a sim set up at home
Excellent comparison! I did a ton of research before setting up my home simulator 3 months ago with SkyTrak. I've been incredibly happy with my choice, but you've managed to condense my weeks of research into a 9 minute video. This is a must-watch for anyone considering the two. Where were you 3 months ago? 😉
I've been extremely happy with the SkyTrak. It's set up in a 12' by 15' room and I wouldn't have had the required space for the Mevo. Also, we have only right-handers in the house so no need to flip it around. We got the TGC software which is a bit expensive but does have literally thousands of courses. Honestly, I mostly use my simulator for swing practice and improvement, so I mostly use the SkyTrak software. My 16 year old son and his friends love playing courses on the TGC, though, and when golf buddies come over it's Pebble Beach time 😀. I would say the most important addition is the best hitting mat you can get. I got a Fiberbuilt mat which was around $800 but well worth it. Saves impact on your arms and wrists and allows you to take an after-the-ball divot without fear of pain. Oh, and DEFINITELY get the protective metal case for the SkyTrak. I have had many balls, and even clubs (teenagers 😳), bounce off of it and shudder to imagine them hitting the bare unit. Best of luck. My game has impoved tremendously being able to hit balls on a daily basis.
First, I am a 1.4 handicap and play 40+ rounds a year. I know my numbers. I have had the SkyTrak for well over a year now and use it 5-7 days a week. I have noticed that although I do get pretty good numbers S-5 iron and a little short with the 4 and 3 irons, I do see serious issues with very short readings and high spin rates (Hybrid, 3W and Driver). On the course I easily average 260-270y carry and depending on the fairways 270-300y total. On SkyTrak I rarely get >240 yrds total. Since I have almost 11ft ceilings, I am certain it is not an "indoor" swing. There is a base issue that SkyTrak simply needs to be improved for faster swing speeds!
Good review. I’ve had my Skytrak for 3years. At that time it was the most cost effective option. What I like about it is the options for sim play. Only complaint would be the miss reads on shiny clubs. My hybrids and 3 wood have several miss reads on regular basis. Definitely would purchase again but would like to try the Mevo at a later date if mine dies out.
I have both units and I agree with most of what you said, but there are two glaring issues with the skytrak that have always bugged me. 1) Skytrak will give really misleading ball flight data if you don’t aim it correctly and make sure each shot is aimed parallel to the unit, and make sure the unit is level and at the same height or flat on the hitting surface. 2) Skytrak is much slower than the Flightscope, it takes about 5 seconds before the software shows the shot and data whereas the Flightscope is almost instantaneous… it’s only a little annoying when your playing on simulator software. Pros for Skytrak are much longer battery life almost double! Less likely to get kicked or someone standing in front of it while it’s measuring. Pros for Flightscope much more robust data and you can upgrade for $1000 to get full club data and some more ball data. More portable and the app is easier to use and is free so anyone can connect to it via iPhone/iPad of their own.
Looking to buy a Mevo+. Have you tried it with the Pro Package? I'm interested to know if the face to path data is in anyway accurate. Great review, I like how it feels unbiased.
I bought the SkyTrak because my garage didn’t have enough room for the distance requirements of the Mevo +. I am a lefty and it is definitely a pain to deal with switching back and forth 🤦♂️
I'm guessing that I probably will look at the Mevo plus since most of my play will be outdoors at a range. My only question is whether I should pick up a Mevo plus vs an R10? There is a big difference in price points and is the Mevo plus THAT much better since the R10 does a lot of the same things the Mevo+ does.
Depends on how serious or data-driven you are. The M+ measures more parameters at base level and has the Pro upgrade for nearly 30 data points, including D-plane for wedges. If you're on a budget, mostly trying to establish carry distances for gapping and get a rough idea of direction, club parameters and spin while having some sim options, the R10 might be for you.
I only have access to a barebones practice facility outdoors; no cover, just balls and matts, so if it rains or it is very cold, wet weather (today fog and 4°C) which one would cope best with such conditions?
I’m after a device that has many golf course to play on but also to use it for practice. What software can these be connect to. Do they have outright purchase or a yearly subscription. Thanks love you vids always great easy to understand info.
Skytrak has a mandatory yearly subscription (100USD) to use any sim software besides the included range, even if you've bought the software. It supports WGT, Fitness Golf, Awesome Golf, TGC2019, Creative Golf 3D, E6 Connect and (unofficially) GS Pro. E6 and GS Pro have subscription fees. Mevo+ has no recurring fees and works with all of those except WGT and Fitness Golf.
I have a skytrak and it's weird, I don't mind it, it sucks when It comes to the sunlight hitting it, and it reads most of my shots 15 to 20 yards short of what I normally hit. I'm not sure if it's the special balls I need or what?
I was thinking flight scope, but now I'm thinking the mevo +. I am also considering the Full Swing launch Monitor. Its a little more expensive, but looks great.
Thanks for the review. I bought a Mevo+ over a year ago and I can’t be happier. I went with Mevo+ because of initial cost. The Skytrack comes with several annual subscription options and the Mevo+ comes with a lifetime subscription to a 5 course IOS version of E6. I also purchased a lifetime subscription to Awesome golf, which is not possible with Skytrack.
what does the Awesome golf get you?

What do you know or think of the Pro Package I’m hearing about? Takes the Mevo+ from $2k to $3k, tryin to find out if it’s worth it.
I love your reviews but why didn't you wait another 10 days til Mevo+ has fusion tracking and then review? Thanks again.
I have a Mevo+ and love it. Having a lefty in the house, it is super easy for everyone to play. Really like the software options too. Awesome Golf is GREAT for the whole family.
Second this and being able to bring it to range is great
Very fair comparison.
The new Garmin R10 is supposed to be very good? What do you think?
Couple of things you didn’t cover: a) what data parameters are provided by each LM and whether they are measured or calculated, and b) with Mevo+ launching fusion tracking free update which will use the camera in conjunction with the radar, I suspect it will improve further on accuracy and possibly making it way more superior than Skytrak.
b) is not valid until launched and tested. Till then its all smoke and mirrors
I bought Mevo+ for my home simulator. Paired with TGC 2019. I love it. The only down side is short chip shots and putting. It doesn't read short chip shots and putting some times. New firmware will be out tomorrow wich is Jan 26th. Hope it gets better.
Please can you let me know if the update has addressed your issue of chipping etc. Regards.
I bought my SkyTrak about three years ago, it still works perfectly, and I love it. It is an excellent tool to have for practicing.
@@philr1924 sold it on ebay
@@gregjohnson8937 Thanks, hadnt thought of that. Were you able to transfer the registration to the new owner so they could take advantage of the advanced features?
@@philr1924 I just sold it. He never said to transfer it. This was back when Mevo+ first hit the market. I believe I got the second shipment of them.
@@gregjohnson8937 Thanks Greg!
I have the Skytrak in my garage and love it. Because of my limited space it was my only option. My set up is a gaming computer with 22 inch touch screen on the wall behind where I swing. I have a Rukkett net that you take down and put up quickly with a 70inch TV mounted on the wall behind the net.
I'd throw a piece of plexi in front of that TV. Would suck big time if a ball found it's way through.
@@justinrowe2715 great idea, we've had some close calls! Thanks
Not sure if you'll see this, but how are you liking your set up still? I was debating something like that in my small garage as well with a net and flat screen behind it, but noone seems to talk about that as an option. Just a hitting screen or net with tv off to the side somewhere?
Thanks MR SG, the products are well represented here ,my only question is ,and I am new at all of this, where is the graphics displayed?
That's my $.02.
can skytrack be cabled instead of wifi ????
Bro your vid’s are looking crispy!!! Awesome vid!

Thanks my friend
Flightscope also has a new $1,000 upgrade that provides an additional 11 data points which will provide a total of 27 data points for each shot.
I have a sky track and use E6 for my rounds…Sky Track also integrates with WGT as well…
thanks of the break down Mr Short Game. In the process of saving up for a Flight Scope. Excited to one day having one.
The one thing you left out is data feedback. Do they give all the same information like PAYG, face angle, launch, dynamic loft ect ect
Fantastic review! Greatly appreciated. Desperately needed this comparison before purchasing my home simulator.
link broken for the mevo+ affiliate link
With the skytrak, it has trouble reading the ball sometimes. Any ideas on how to fix it?
A good fair comparison. I bought a mevo+ because (at the time of purchase) skytrak calculates swing speed. It is not a measured parameter. I was surprised to hear the numbers were comparable. Maybe because the strike is very consistent.
It's a guess based on ball speed and some launch parameters. Still isn't measured by Skytrak.
What about going from driver to irons ? You hav e to move the laser from the tee to the iron shots?
As a follow up question, what is the battery life between charges.
Many thanks!
How was the launch angle comparison? Thats one of my important metrics I am looking for.
For 15k the GC2 better be more accurate and more reliable since it's about 30 times more expensive.
GC2 is around 3500USD on the used market. No reason to buy a new one with GC3 out since any club parameters it doesn't provide can be gotten with GCQ for roughly the same amount as GC2+HMT.
No 💩
How big of a deal is EMF? We’ve got batteries for our solar system as well as the related BMS in the garage, is there a way to know if that will cause issues?
If you have access, would love to see a comparison Mevo+ to Bushnell Launch Pro.
What about the Ernest sports tour plus? I have yet to see a good comparison agents the skytrak
This is a great comparison! I
Last year I purchased the Swing Caddy SC300i after seeing your review.
This is great.
The user interface answer was great. It does depend on the person.
Thank you so much for this review!
Great review...Have not tried either yet but I have a Earnest Sports ES 15 panel and will be getting a B 1 to take to the range...ES 15 is set up at home....Both work great and the price point some what near the two mention......
Hello, Thank you for your great video.
Will you be able to comment on the putting with both units please?
Thank you
Can’t afford either. It ticks me off when you buy a machine and then have to buy the technology. My gmc truck was sold to me with all the technology but what I wasn’t told is that you have to buy the technology. Would love to have one but maybe lessons would benefit me more. Thanks Matt, love ya brother.
Matt how did they stack up for launch direction and spin axis?
Both spot on with Trackman.
Save your money buy the mevo plus, if you buy opti shot you'll regret spending that money
Thanks so much for this review. Really great job comparing the 2 side by side.
So my only available area is in my garage. Would an area 7 x 15 be large enough for Skytrac? Thank you.
I have a short outdoor space. Maybe 10 feet in length. Which should I get??
I've had a SkyTrak for about a year now and really enjoy it. I'm having a bit of difficulty with it picking up 9i-wedges in terms of carry distance. Most everything else it picks up great. Seems that the higher lofted clubs have about a 10 yd shortage on it. I'm going to play with the settings to see if I can figure it out.
Great review. Would love to see the numbers compared side by side between TM, SK and Mevo.
Which one is better for club path when using E6?

Which software is better for playing 18 hole virtual courses? Looks, feel, how realistic, putting settings?
SkyTrak but E6Connect is decent
TGC 2019 with Mevo + is a blast, 150k of courses to choose from ⛳️
TGC2019 or GSPro is becoming a very popular option as well for SkyTrack
Love the skytak just a heads up
Hi Matt. 2 questions:
What data elements does each unit capture, and
Which unit was most consistent in the data - i.e. smallest variances rather than 'accuracy'?
If I know a unit is CONSISTENTLY a certain amount (distance, angles, spin, etc) more or less than the base-line (TM), I can allow for that. But if they are inconsistent ....
Cheers
Mevo + has been superb, taking it to the range is awesome, especially with friends in driving contest, when paired with iPhone it calls out distance and we know immediately who’s buying beers 🍻
Matt, you should cover “putting” this has always been a little struggle for these monitors ⛳️
Chipping has been a struggle as well
Chipping seems ok on my setup, maybe your Mevo angle is not right? Putting for me has not been good, it’s getting better with firmware updates, but not there yet

With driver I did need to elevate SkyTrak a little
Fewer misreads with Mevo+. About 1 out of 50, it is rare, but it does happen.

Would you change anything now or keep the same?
What hitting mat insert do you use?
Do both units measure club speed or just calculate it?
Mevo+ measures, Skytrak can't.
Which one has the worst lag time from when the ball is hit to when it Shows on the screen?
How close is your hitting spot to the net. At 13' which Mevo+ likes, I go over my 8' high net with a 56* sand wedge or LW.
How would the Garmin S10 compare??
Mevo+ is coming out with a firwmare upgrade to track club path and face to path/ face to target as well in Feb 2022
Do these work hitting into a net outdoors?
I only have access to a barebones practice facility outdoors; no cover, just balls and matts, so if it rains or it is very cold, wet weather (today fog and 4°C) which one would cope best with such conditions?
Flightscope.
Any thoughts on the Garmin R10 ?
Are those Titleist balls you recommended providing more accuracy for Skytrak or mainly just for radar based systems like Mevo + and TrackMan?
They work with Skytrak also
I have a skytrak and it's weird, I don't mind it, it sucks when It comes to the sunlight hitting it, and it reads most of my shots 15 to 20 yards short of what I normally hit. I'm not sure if it's the special balls I need or what?
I was thinking flight scope, but now I'm thinking the mevo +. I am also considering the Full Swing launch Monitor. Its a little more expensive, but looks great.
