While Budokai 3 was my favorite DBZ title in that generation, I really enjoyed the board game aspect of 2. Beating opponents to powerups. Searching the spaces for hidden rewards. Beating an opponent once, then chasing them while they were "dizzy", beating them, which then counts as 2 wins to eliminate them. The only thing I really disliked about Budokai 2 was the roster being shrunk to just the absolute minimum for each saga.

I remember when TOCS 1 & 2 Decisive & Relentless Editions were $40 new. I’m glad I bought them back then. Crazy how expensive they’ve become. Super fun games though so definitely worth it.
I remember I rented Budokai 2 for the GC and played it a ton for that week or so. It stuck with me, but didn't bought another DBZ game until Tenkaichi 3 on the wii.
Trails really needs to be fully on Switch, JRPGs are meant for handhelds. We need the Sky Trilogy and CS 1&2 to be localized (as they are already on Switch in Japan, Korean, and China).
They are already localized, as they are on Steam (CSI&II, Sky) and PS4 (CSI&II). For whatever reason the publisher, XSEED doesn't seem to want to put them on Switch. The distribution rights specifically for the English localization of these games are owned by XSEED.
Sky 1 and 2 already are on PSP and since it is a handheld there is no barrier to just pick up and play the lot. Also all titles are available on PC so you can try to get a Steam Deck or similar mobile PC device. So if you really are into these games and absolutely want to play them on the go you already have several options since ages. There is no need for Switch ports.
My buddy back in middle school had an Xbox and PS2, and had MK Deception. I remember playing it for a long time, surprisingly Chess is what we would always go back to. I've never beaten him. Haha
Awesome Jon! Are you able to shout out the store where you found Trails 2? I was at TMG that Saturday and meeting everyone on the Spawncast made the event for me.

MK had the extra characters because it didn’t have online. The Xbox and PS versions came out earlier and had online. Added it to give the GC something exclusive
I'd have to say Budokai 3 is my favorite Dragon Ball game from that generation of them. I loved the Dragon Universe mode and doing it with all the characters, allocating points to level them up and become stronger. The music in it was amazing and super memorable, too. I really wanted to become great at the game and even Z3 difficulty ended up being easy to me I put so much time into it. Love that game!
I never knew you were a big fan of Dragon Ball games from PS2 era. I’d say if you liked Budokai 1 then you would surely love Infinite World which was the last Budokai styled game on PS2 that had similar kinda cut scenes as Budokai 1 but better and tons of characters. My favourite however will always be Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as that was not only the best Dragon Ball game but also the best arena fighter on PS2 ever made.
Ayy infinite world is lit. It's always been overshadowed by Budokai 3 just because it released late in the PS2 life cycle, and people make up excuses for why it's "not good" when Budokai 3 has those same problems, if not more.
@@RandomAnimeGamer Budokai 3 was good but Infinite World’s story mode destroys Budokai 3 which was confusing and didn’t even have any cut scenes. There were more characters in Infinite World as well. I think that is one game that needs a HD remake for sure. With BT3 of course.

Trails of Cold Steel is a very underrated series. Each game is worth 150+ hours. Also, they abruptly end on a couple of them requiring you to immediately start the next game. One of my top picks for the genre.
Speaking of Trails of Cold Steel II, I have that version new and sealed. It's because I am still stuck on the first Trails in the Sky 🤣 Technically, I can play Cold Steel I and II without spoilers from previous Trails games but III and IV requires the previous 5 Trails of games to avoid spoilers (This is what fans say anyway).
Don't let the fanbase dictate where you start, because the fanbase already argues that the most "optimal" order to play them isn't even in the actual sequential order of release. I say either play in sequential order of release, or just start with the arc you find most interesting/appealing. The idea of these games is that they all take place within the same continent of the same world within the same roughly 5 year timeframe (thus far), so of course you will see characters from other games show up or be mentioned. This can be cool if you know who they are from a previous game in the series you have played, but it really isn't necessary. For example, you said you were told that starting the Cold Steel games before playing the Sky games would be "fine"; however, I can already tell you that there is one character in the Sky games that is pretty mysterious that you don't find out who they actually are until the end of Sky 2, but if you played even just the first Cold Steel game before it would "ruin" that moment as you know who this character is already. It is mainly the people who started the series with the Cold Steel games that say starting with CS is "fine", because a lot of us who played the Sky games before CS came out told them they may appreciate CS more if they played Sky first. Because they didn't want to go back and play the "old" games first before starting the cool new most current shiny game at the time, they have justified that starting with CS is "fine". I mean, I am all for people starting where they want, but these people are sort of hypocrites because while they say playing CS before Sky is no biggie, they will also say that you should play certain games before others still..
Cold steel 3/4 are basically avengers infinity war and endgame. Everybody from the previous arc. So when the fan base say go back and play sky trilogy and the crossbell games they mean it. Burnout 2: Point of Impact on GameCube is one of my favorite arcade racers of all time. Drifting around a corner perfectly then hitting the boost while the in-house music surges in volume is intoxicating I swear lol. It feels more "pure" than 3 as 3 kinda reeks of EA imo. Great game though.
Oh you were the one to pick that up LOL that was there for a while at the second and Charles I skipped on it due to the damage of the cardboard I wanted it to be more pristine. Great pick up
It's all about the nostalgia. When kids who had the NES and SNES grew up and got disposable income, prices for those skyrocketed. Now the kids who grew up with PS2, GameCube and XBox want to relive those same memories, and prices are shooting up as a result.
Gamecube MK Deception got those 2 extra characters because the Gamecube version came out later after the ps2/xbox versions. I enjoy this game on the xbox better because it runs in 480p AND widescreen
I know it never got a Gamecube version but the 3rd game in the Burnout Series is still one of the all time greats hell it might just be the Greatest Arcade Racing game ever.
Great pick ups man,sum of these I got YEARS ago for cheap and MK Deception is one of em,got for about $15 bucks but no manual until nowadays but great video regardless, let's keep em coming the journey is fun😎🍻🍺
For us who had GameCube, that little indigo machine was a bit of a surprising beast going up against the other consoles. Some games just looked flat out brighter, sharper, and better than the other versions. And that was during the ridiculous Dreamcast/PS2 era seeing graphics we never saw before. If there was a new Amish, we would stop at GameCube :D
MK Deception in GCN have Shao Khan and Goro because was like a apology for not getting online like the PS2 or Xbox version, now that the online is gone in thoose platforms, one can say the GCN version is the most complete version now.
Fun fact. MK Deception had Goro and Shao Khan as playable characters because it didn’t have online. It also came out about 6 months after the Xbox and ps2 version.
Just to warn you if you play Cold Steel 2 on ps5 there is a bug that still hasn't been fixed. When you go to go back to the school the game will crash after the cutscene. You have to fast forward the scene till the next day or play it on ps4 and get past that point and save then start back on ps5.
There are 4 games in the trails of cold steel series..." Oh you have no idea, there's 5 other games before the cold steel series, There's the trails in the sky trilogy (only one is playable on psp in english, but the other games are on pc via GOG and Steam) and the Crossbell games which are just getting localized (Trails to zero and Trails to Azure).
And soon we will get a fith title in the Trails of Cold Steel series, although it omits that moniker and calls itself Reverie. Also Sky 2 is also playable on PSP in english.

DBZ Budokai yes! I’m younger than you and had just gotten into DBZ as a kid, got this and the guidebook for Christmas from my parents and my friends and I had a fucking blast. The guidebook showed every combo for the fighters so we would spend time trying to learn them. Awesome times
Thank you I Budokai 1 is Definitely my favorite game on the GameCube. The story mode was beautiful and it was just so good for it’s time. IT NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT BACK WITH AN ONLINE MULTIPLAYER.
the funny thing about MK: deception, in the french translation the title basically became "mortal kombat: fraud" due to how the french used their version of the word "deception". So the game did pretty badly and I think it even had to be rereleased with a different name.
'Deception' means disappointment in French. Can't sell a game with disappointment in its title. They renamed it 'mystification' which indeed can be translated into 'fraud'.
I did really love the first budakai. Really did not care too much for the second but because I was a kid, I played the shit out of it. But I still believe budakai 3 is the best and my favorite!

Surprised it haven't picked up Gauntlet Dark Legacy yet. Such a fun arcade co-op game.
that blur didn’t fool me I knew it was budokai lol 3 is my favorite, nothing beats playing as super saiyan 4 Gogeta
Dbz games are so nostalgic for me
I know it never got a Gamecube version but the 3rd game in the Burnout Series is still one of the all time greats hell it might just be the Greatest Arcade Racing game ever.
Very cool man glad you got some cool stuff
Great pick ups man,sum of these I got YEARS ago for cheap and MK Deception is one of em,got for about $15 bucks but no manual until nowadays but great video regardless, let's keep em coming the journey is fun😎🍻🍺
DBZ budokai on the ps2 was amazing. Gameplay and music, even tho music was plagiarized, was 👏
Spawn, you do know about Trails in the Sky right?
For us who had GameCube, that little indigo machine was a bit of a surprising beast going up against the other consoles. Some games just looked flat out brighter, sharper, and better than the other versions. And that was during the ridiculous Dreamcast/PS2 era seeing graphics we never saw before. If there was a new Amish, we would stop at GameCube :D
MK Deception in GCN have Shao Khan and Goro because was like a apology for not getting online like the PS2 or Xbox version, now that the online is gone in thoose platforms, one can say the GCN version is the most complete version now.
Always check pawn shops when you see one. I’ve found countless deals on retro games and consoles.
Fun fact. MK Deception had Goro and Shao Khan as playable characters because it didn’t have online. It also came out about 6 months after the Xbox and ps2 version.
Is that version rare and uncommon
@@timelymirror7826 uncommon more than rare. It goes for around $50 compare to the ps2 version which you can get for about $10-$20.
@@mexiwolf009 I would assume that it had a low print run and wasn't that version not released worldwide
Just to warn you if you play Cold Steel 2 on ps5 there is a bug that still hasn't been fixed. When you go to go back to the school the game will crash after the cutscene. You have to fast forward the scene till the next day or play it on ps4 and get past that point and save then start back on ps5.
I was a game tester for the Budokai series on the PS2 and Game Cube.
Good to see your collection is doing good. I just counted over 120 gamecube games... I'm very happy with the results so far...
The first Budokai’s graphics were actually awesome, preferred them over the more cartoon style of the later games
Gotcha Force is an incredible game. Really enjoyed playing through that one. May just break it out to play it more soon.
Advise for best qty image in gamecube... Use a flat screen not bigger than 19 inches... Use a wii with component cable. Next option is my CRT
Holy crap. Budokai 2 has gone up.
Literally everything has.
it's never been re released the Budokai hd collection never had 2
Lol I've got gotcha force just sitting on my shelf 😅
There are 4 games in the trails of cold steel series..."
Oh you have no idea, there's 5 other games before the cold steel series, There's the trails in the sky trilogy (only one is playable on psp in english, but the other games are on pc via GOG and Steam) and the Crossbell games which are just getting localized (Trails to zero and Trails to Azure).
And soon we will get a fith title in the Trails of Cold Steel series, although it omits that moniker and calls itself Reverie.
Also Sky 2 is also playable on PSP in english.
Oh wow!! I didn't know you were into The Legend of Heroes series.
It's a great series. Best I can explain it that it's just like how marvel is doing their MCU movies.
Congratulations on the PlayStation 4 find!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks
I want GameCube games on switch online this year because these games are way too expensive
some of them can be cheap
I played the original budokai recently on my GameCube. I played that game over and over again as a kid
I got Top Gun recently too (complete copy for $3)! I also purchased a brand new copy of the Dawn of Mana for $40.
DBZ Budokai yes! I’m younger than you and had just gotten into DBZ as a kid, got this and the guidebook for Christmas from my parents and my friends and I had a fucking blast. The guidebook showed every combo for the fighters so we would spend time trying to learn them. Awesome times
the Gamecube MK games had extra characters because PS2/XBOX had online vs. Cube did not
Good for you Spawn
The DBZ Budokai games need to come back for current gen.
Those gamecubes games i got it in the basement in a trunk, i remember trying to sell it back then, here nobody like those games.
:V
My friend and I went hard on the 1st Budokai on cube, playing all day for multiple days, good times.
I'm starting my GC collection this week with Sonic Heroes.
They renamed it 'mystification' which indeed can be translated into 'fraud'.
fraud 🤣
I did really love the first budakai. Really did not care too much for the second but because I was a kid, I played the shit out of it. But I still believe budakai 3 is the best and my favorite!
Some of the prices for Gamecube games are nuts. I had a bunch of stuff stolen while I was in the hospital, including Paper Mario TYD.. I want to get it back but it's $120 CDN.
Spawn goes to 2nd hand store: Finds trails of cold steel he was looking for
Me going to second hand store: Finds the remaining stock of karaoke revolution
Man I'm really glad you're enjoying Trails of Cold Steel. I say this as someone who's been playing them as they originally released. (ie on Vita and PS4)
You want I and II on Switch? Ask XSEED.
I love your coverage and the podcast
Spawn I know you read the comments. Glad you are enjoying the Trails series but please go back and play the sky trilogy on pc and the crossbell games when the they drop before you move on to cold steel3/4. Cold steel 3/4 are the avengers infinity war and endgame of the where everybody from the first to arc come together. It will be worth the journey
Get a crt tv, hdmi is a nice upscale but you’ll get the full experience and almost zero input lag. S video cables should make it look sharp and more true to budokai
Budokai 2 was so cool because you could play as Majin Buu after absorbing Frieza or Cell
Budokai was great but there were some janky things in that game. Like equipping the capsules and using heart virus and vaccine in character but not the other so the opponent is poisoned the whole fight. Or my personal favorite, Freizas spaceship
The Gamecube and PSP had Goro and Shao Khan, because they were released later.
Mortal Kombat Deception’s Konquest mode is super legit! One of the best games just because of this mode! 💪🏼🔥
Video games deserve some hype like sports cards or even like Pokémon cards. Glad you made this video. 😇👏🏽👍🏽🙌🏽👌🏽💪🏽🙌🏽🔥
You can tell that frozen food wasn’t hitting right, your face gave it away when you bit into the food lol
The first Budokai is my favorite. Honestly with GC I don’t see it coming down anytime soon just be you got a younger generation finally working and wanting to buy games they had growing up. I’ve had Trails of Cold Steel since it launched on Vita, love the gameplay but geez is it dialogue heavy. Btw just get cfw on your switch and buy a Japanese copy of Trails of Cold Steel 2 Kai on switch and download the English patch cuz I don’t think Xseed is going to release it anytime soon
My favorite dragon ball z game:
For story mode and soundtrack:
Budokai 1(game cube version because it aged better visually)
For game play and roster:
Tenkaichi 3
I love these kind of videos!!
I'm feeling the pain with the retro games. I've gotten my 3DS collection to 75%, but that last 25% is just ridiculously priced for some of them. I don't think I'll ever get to 100%.
Vita is the platform to play TocS 1 and 2
makes sense it's the original versions right
I first tought that the first box was a bit broken, but then notice that all of them looks like someone cut out a piece at the bottom right side (if you look at the front of the cover) in the plastic, so I guess the NTSC boxes all had that thing?
Thanks for pointing out the games that might need patched for progressing scan 480p
LOL those meals won't even rotate in your tiny microwave.
