Main problem i see is the light penetrating those barrels. I see someone commented as much 2w ago. I would suggest a different approach. You could use black acrylic but you may need to double triple coat it depending on thickness of coat. I would just give it a good coat of any color something opaque, and after would build a small box around the whole deal about 4" or so from the barrels, this will help the water stay cooler.
Myself i would not want the barrels to equalize water levels. I would instead rig a homemade PVC bell siphon the height of your desired water level in each barrel so that it would fill one at a time and evacuate them in sequence down the line so your water can't sit and stagnate. This would ensure your older water gets moved down the system and used up first. Making your supply fresher overall.
Your grass would thank you for the cooler fresher water.

@@jablonicusdemarco6213 use blue plastic rain barrels they are dark enough. I got some that were used to hold spill containment materials from a construction site.

It's the first time I've seen a video of yours and I don't usually comment. I have some experience collecting water, to the point that I drink it and don't do anything very sophisticated! I kept growing that idea! I see good intentions! You have my like, my subscription and I will look at your videos.

I understand that the needs for that water are low... but the simple fact that the light does not reach the water changes everything a lot. The only thing I would change would be that... I would paint those barrels with some acrylic paint. The amount of algae they can generate is incredible. They are benign algae but they turn everything green.
It doesn't take away from the great work done, the water is so free that it falls from the sky! and we should take advantage of it in every way possible

If you make a platform under the barrels , like at least 1ft, ideally 3ft you would get much better water pressure

agreed. and for most folks that's what they should do. I'm using a pump to run a sprinkler so I don't need the head pressure.

How do you deal with algae and bacteria growth in the barrel especially the white barrels? I understand you said it isn't for drinking/consumption but wouldn't the bacteria growth still be a bad thing to get on your hands/skin as you use it to hose your garden etc?

I built one but it’s better to cut a hole in the top attach a hose to a 2 inch trash pump reduced to 1 inch and submerge it. Attach a screen over the opening

Rain barrels are pointless. If you are in a wet area you are better off drilling a well.
If you are in a dry area a barrel of water won't last you that much to mater.
