    I miss my Hardbody. Bought a new Black 1986 1/2 Nissan Hardbody, 2 whl drive, standard cab, regular bed. Converted the bed to a manual lift (brackets grade 8 bolted to the end of the frame rails and the bed bottom, remove all remaining bed bolts and could manually lift the bed with a chrome steel rod to hold it up). Sunroof, 75 corvette bucket seats, lowered 2" front and rear, rear air shocks for hauling/towing, Lakewood chrome traction bars, American Racing Outlaw II wheels 14" in front with 195/70R14 tires, 15" on rear with 255/60R15 tires, matching 15" tire/wheel for the spare, small stereo system upgrade. Then I had my first car/truck show. Took home a trophy for the cleanest truck of the show. I should have kept it (like all the vehicles I used to own), but traded it in on a Black 1989 IROC-Z (that I customized and took to a bunch of car shows, always took a trophy, usually 1st Place in Street Class). Sold the IROC-Z 8 years later with a little over 13K miles on it. Another one I should have kept. Then there was the 1989 Silverado I customized and sold 7 years later. Yep, should have kept it. Now I have a 2012 Silverado and I'm drawing up plans for a 2" inch drop front and rear, ceramic coated headers, stainless cat-back system, 18" tires and wheels. I bought the truck with 58k miles on it and recently turned 60k.
    Fair winds and following seas to all.

    Does the spindles help with the ride quality? I need some betters shocks I already put monroes up front barley helped with the truck being so bouncy

    • @RiceTruck
      @RiceTruck  5 лет назад

      Drop spindles will help reduce bumpsteer and camber but the shocks you are running arent the best, if you do plan on getting belltech shocks, you need to install the drop spindles aswell, or else youll end up in my situation where my shock mounts cracked and broke off the frame

  • @davidhess3320

    I know this an old video. May not get a response back...but I got a 1st Gen frontier 98. Got about the same drop as you but on 18s...I had crap oem Napa shocks and brand new they felt blown lol. How's the ride with the belltechs? Did you go for the lowered version and if so did the lower the truck a bit or raise it a bit? And I seen your other videos about the shock mounts breaking. Was it due to the shocks being stiff? Was it just because you used the truck for drift events and such?

    • @RiceTruck
      @RiceTruck  2 года назад +1

      i got the belltech street performance shocks to replace my 4wd shocks that were blown, the reason why i cracked the shock mounts was because I didnt have the drop spindles installed and i was bottoming out the shock.

      @@RiceTruck aw crap, I mean my oem ones never really bottomed out, only if I hit a huge pot hole. I dont have spindles right now . Dam might just have to hold off on installingthe shock till I get spindles

    How does it ride with drop shocks and the torsions cranked down are you bottoming on bumpstops or did you cut em out

    • @RiceTruck
      @RiceTruck  5 лет назад +1

      Rides very well, I'd recommend using drop spindles at all so the suspension has some travel or else you can break your shock mounts I removed the bump stops for more clearence

  • @JJH-jc1fg

    Excuse my ignorance, but would these shocks drop the truck or do you need any special mods?

    • @RiceTruck
      @RiceTruck  Год назад

      This will help make the truck drop lower but running these shocks with drop spindles will lower it even more while still having a good suspension geometry

    Whats the fastest you've drove this thing? I have a fairly stock (except for intake and exhaust) 1991 D21 and they honestly aren't slow. Not fast, but not slow. I got mine up around 110 when I racing some Diesel truck (I won) and then I let off. It seems most people who drive these don't drive them very hard, as in accelerate hard. But in mine it really is actually fun to drive and accelerates nicely. Maybe its because the guy who owned before me bought it new and took super good care of it.

    Not to pick on you, but have you considered cleaning that poor truck up and fixing the rust before you blow money on SHOCKS? And if you are going to go mud, you shouldn't lower the poor thing anyway. You should raise it. Who am I? The guy with that restored 97 King cab in my picture. You keep treating that poor truck as you do, it will eventually go south on you.

    • @RiceTruck
      @RiceTruck  4 года назад

      if you watched my previous video you wouldve known why it got it this dirty even though i washed it before the video, i didnt buy this truck to restore, it and baby it. i bought it to drift it, scrap metal, and beat the shit out of it. I paid 550$ for it so didnt care that much when i crashed it, I have a new hardbody now with no rust which will also be drifted but being more considerate about its well being. The rotted out hardbody in this video is a beater and nothing more. P.S. since the old engine outlived the old truck. the engines going into my new truck, and im gonna send it again.
