He so devastated after winning the gold at the Olympics but the fact that he's running a 200 m after normally being a 400 m hurdler I think is amazing and and he's in the answers are right he has no pressure on him and I think it's great that he can just kind of chill out and just have some fun.

That track at Tokyo ran super long. Meaning, to those running on it, it felt like they were running 50% further than the race was supposed to be. Look at what happened to the best 100m runner in the world (this year.) Suddenly, he had no finish (unluck every other 100m he's run this year.) This is partially why Noah actually made a run for the lead, and tired (hung.) It ran like a 300m race. That's also why he severely misjudged the lead he had in the semifinal race. That caused him to get a poor lane for the final.

I think these races are actually quite similar in quality, enough so that the difference could just be running heats/semis vs not. A 19.74 with -0.5 m/s wind is equivalent to 19.70 with 0.0 wind. A 19.52 with +1.5 m/s wind is equivalent to a 19.61 with 0.0 wind. So in terms of quality this was 0.09 better imo, & that could just be the difference of fatigue. I agree though, it has got to be very hard to time your peak to perfection.

Wrong. Until De Grasse runs 19.49 Lyles is better. Medals are token. Someone can win gold fluking a great performance. And never do it again. Example do you even know who won the womens 100m gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens WITHOUT HAVING TO GOOGLE IT? I bet you dont. Because she did nothing of note after it. And nobody even mentions her.
De Grasse only has one time under 19.70 and is 26. Lyles has five times under 19.70 and is 24. He is the man right now.

It will be broken as soon as KNIGHTON realizes how good he is. And reaches his full potential. We arent talking about going sub 19.00 here.
The difference between Lyles and that world record is 3 metres and 4 inches. Its gonna take a TALL sprinter to break it with very fast leg turnover.
It was set by a tall sprinter and will be broken by one. If Knighton reaches full potential. He gets first SERIOUS crack at it. Think Blake came within 7 one hundreds of a second of it. And he isnt even 6 foot tall. A 6 foot 2" sprinter. Where everything falls into place. Can get it down to at least 19.18. In the next 10 years.
