- Recorded in 1969 and released on the 1985 album "VU". Written by Lou Reed. This is one of the songs that got lost at the MGM studios and was accidently found in a trash can several years later.
Even when the Velvet Underground tried to be more mainstream, they were still genuine!
Still kicks ass decades later. It's better than anything that passes for "popular" music these days.
There was never a bad VU album.
Whoever is playing guitar on this rocks…maybe it was Lou who did the long feedback effect at one point. That is what makes this track awesome
Fabulous tune. Still great after all these years.
always loved this one since it was put out in the '80s. that guitar solo. just everything about it.
Both guitars are awesome the solo is amazing. The Velvet Underground is the most important band from United States and the only in the Stones-Beatles level
That feedback solo is amazing
RIP LOU REED...fast is life....I miss u..!
+Morten Andersen For sure fascinating life....he was not a coal miner...
Daniel from France -Paris--
Well, this happens when you... walk on the wild side.
Me Too..but we'll always hv these..greatist songwriter..who nva stopped ..investigating..the realms..of where Good Music..could go..(eg;MAGIC AND LOSS'/SONGS FOR DRELLA-*W/-JOHN CALE/SET THE TWILIGHT.REELING'/ECTASCY'/&,So many more..V.Us always pk me up..esp'-The LP.'V.U.!!(:)
My landlady called me up
She tried to hit me with a mop
He was my friend, I miss him
Love it, Lou. There's a nothing can harm you. rip
RIP Lou Reed
Monster bass line.
love Lou Reed
Best sustain ever.....
The best feedback ever.
come back, shelly!
Inmortal VU...!!! 😺😸😹😻😼😽😺😸😹😻😼😽😻
tee hee, it wasn't found in the garbage, it was just shelved and forgotten about for sixteen years
sterling always wore the best pants.
I think right to left is Maureen Tucker, Gerard Malanga, Nico, Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison. Andy Warhol seated, unknown girl centre.
great band
*greatest*
The V. U. Rocks big time. Aloha
It seems so actual 🤩
who does not know VU does not know music at all
+AV Geiger You're clearly biased
+AV Geiger I mostly agree. As great as they are, I only got into VU because of friends' recommendations. Same with Feelies, King Crimson, Eno, Bowie, etc.
However, if all I ever heard was Rolling Stones or VU, I would be pretty satisfied.
+Jeff Davis yeah that'd be about right both did 3 fucken killer LP's and a coupla patchy ones..difference bein Ve..lvets were over 4 years..Stones 50+
AV Geiger but it's euphoria when you stumble upon The Velvet Underground LP. I MUST GET MOAR VYNIL
Well put bruh. Dont know music art rhythms
This is also on the CD version of the 1969 live album that was released in 1988, but not the original LP release in the 70s.
Jackie Starr, yes F and Bflat then in the chorus it's Bflat to Eflat,,,try it...
can't stand it any more more
Cool...So Cool.
the velvet underground is the most important band in the u s history.the two solos are brilliant but even better the one in the end the last note could not be more badass .
LOL, don't be ridiculous. From that era, the Beach Boys were far more important than VU.
@@thenoseknows4389 I hope it was a joke?)) Even beetles sometimes look unconvincing against VU in terms of importance, and you're talking about bb, loll
@@II-xl7lj This may come as a shock to you, but The Beatles were not a U.S. band. The OP was referring to U.S. bands, not bands from England. As for VU, they had far less impact on the music industry than The Beach Boys. Maybe 10 out of a 100 people even knows who VU are today, while 100 out of a 100 knows who The Beach Boys are. Check and mate.
@@thenoseknows4389 you're funny) I mentioned beetles here only to make you understand that the importance of VU is so incessant that it is impossible to cover it even in the context of the whole world, let alone just one country(unlike bb) , but you're probably silly to understand that, heh
However, you can fantasize as much as you want, no one forbids you, this is your right to have your own fictional world, in it though Taylor swift can be more important than Aretha Franklin, do not deny yourself anything)
@@thenoseknows4389 by the way, the mention of hundreds of people, I understand, was a provocation for voicing the famous phrase Eno, In which he put everything in place and indirectly buried the thought of any other group's importance still thirty years ago? Don't worry, everything here is so obvious and carefree that can do without it
fantastic
02:18 They looked like the mafia guys of the rock n roll.
"I lived with thirteen dead cats & a blue dog that was really fast" magik.
purple dog that wore spats, actually.
That's right
The really fast part make sense though, if you have the experience of newspaper delivery in doggy neighborhoods
damn i am on a trip , when listening this song !!! f********* aweeeeeeeeesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
love velvet u !!!!!!!!
lyrics
"I Can't Stand It"
Before being a man
Livin' in a garbage pail
My landlady call me up
She tried to hit me with a mop
I can't stand it anymore more
I can't stand it anymore more
I can't stand it anymore more
But if Shelly she would just come back
It'll be allright
But if Shelly she would just come back
It'll be allright
I live with thirteen dead cats
A purple who hear spats
They're all livin in a hall
And I can't stand it anymore
I can't stand it anymore more
I can't stand it anymore more
I can't stand it anymore more
But if Shelly she would just come back
It'll be allright
But if Shelly she would just come back
It'll be allright
Before being a man
Livin' in a garbage pail
My landlady call me up
She tried to hit me with a mop
I can't stand it anymore more
I can't stand it anymore more
I can't stand it anymore more
But if Shelly she would just come back
It'll be allright
But if Shelly she would just come back
It'll be allright
Be allright, be allright....
I always felt that the first line was 'It's hard being a man...'
I THINK it's a ''purple dog that wears spats.''
🖤🖤🖤💋
Sonically delicious
RIP
VU Rock-A-Billy...
anymore more
dance craze
Check out the great cover of Lee Harvey Osmond
Sounds like the snare drum was treated with gated reverb in 1985...
like this one
Boss
RIP
If she came back, it would be the same way it was before.
Doug Yule was in the band longer than Lou Reed or John Cale, yet wasn't included when the band was inducted int ot he ' Rock & Roll Hall of Fame '. Just sayin' ...
Yes he should have been included, but your time lines are off.
Lol, and how you counted? Lou was in the band from 1964 to 1970, Doug is clearly smaller
If anyone can tell me what these rhythm chords are I would be so grateful. I got the F... and the Bb in the chorus.. I need the verse and the bridge.
He’s using a capo, I don’t know where but you can hear the tight strings
You might have figured it out by now but try Eb
...ATOMIC!
Gosh.. Which space will play this song? On the ship or airplane??
UIqam a bad man and bad people throw me under the bus.
Grunge 60s
Rare enough to be mentionned: I find the Lou Reed solo version much better.
waiting for Butkus.
You have some serious problems. You make me look sane.
🤣
What you mean:) Ship or airplane, i dont understand:)
Cheesecake is evidence. You do not lie ti chicago. god bless.
Stupid tree nothing to to do with the bears. Except, io hate to shit on cutler.
They were the coolest uncool looking band!!!
What do you mean by that?
@@II-xl7lj They didn't look cool, but their music was!!!
@@brineb58 Is this some kind of weird joke?
@@II-xl7lj yes!!!
@@brineb58 I so and understood
The very start of this is quite similar to Lazy Line Painter Jane by Belle & Sebastian. That is all.
Yup. They also nicked the intro to the Cure's "Lovesong" for "I Want the World to Stop."
Grace is os ten thousand yeaers. You can take mine.
Good bye dorathy!
