@@escapetoruralfrance Isnt it good to know, that in a world of so much crap happening, there's also a lot of good and kindness. Gives you hope for the future.
I watch the film and skip the ads , then rerun the film several times which helps I know will monetise for them , so never have to watch the ads myself!
Glass will not work, surprisingly it will obscure the beautiful patina of the brickwork & dust will still come out of the wall. Clean, point bits if needed and use a masonry sealer, they come in different sheen levels, a supermatt finish will leave you with the raw look you desire whilst and keeping the brick and mortar dust away, cheers & good luck from a heritage restoration designer.
Dan...........I am glad you are starting low / small with the go fund me projects so they are obtainable and we get to see the results. Don't get too greedy too fast like other RUclipsrs in France. lol :-)
I am watching the ads for you also....Your babies are precious...So hard taking them the first day of school and preschool...It made me cry also....Thank you for sharing...
Those of us who have raised our families while going through all the DIY projects have such appreciation for the things you are experiencing. Have to say your challenges are far greater than those our family encountered! Amazed by your great effort and impressed by your work ethic. Will keep watching and rooting for your continued success.
Yes, Dan & Annalise have a great work ethic. Plus, discipline & drive too. Most ppl I know were always too exhausted to DIY after working hard outside the home all day, so projects & stress just piled up. 🎉It looks like they have a lovely partnership that supports & encourages each other (& the children) while they work to accomplish their renovation & homestead goals.🎉
In 2005 a 25 year old Canadian man from Montreal wanted to own a house, but he could not afford one. He did not have a job and, instead of posting a resume to search for a job, he looked at a red paperclip on his desk and decided to trade it online. So, he started a website offering his red paperclip for something. It made headlines. Over the coarse of a year in series of 14 online trades he was offered a large two-story farmhouse in rural Saskatchewan in exchange for a role in a movie! It proves that anything is possible... And now that you got your own channel, I wish you a miracle, so your life will be much much much better than it was for the last 4 years. You're are lovely humble people.
Beautiful job on the house interior, the old bread oven such a piece of history. Jack will be giving Mom and Dad French lessons before you know it! Cheers from 🇨🇦 Canada.
I love the look of the little bakery beams and fireplace! Absolutely brilliant patina! Your lovely wife's reaction to leaving her little man at school for the first time brought memories flooding back to me same experience. Thanks so much for sharing a glimpse into your family adventure with all of us around the world.
It's nice to watch people who are actually WORKING !!! I am so happy that you have supporters and they get to see you working , we will learn from you 👍
First day of school, felt your tears. I was a blubbering mess when my little first started. He is in year 3 now. Looking forward to seeing your bread oven revamped and looking good once again!
The sound of the sand blaster is very relaxing! That's quite a bit of work!!! The sand blasting looks wonderful!!! The piggies and the chicks all seem very happy. Love from Vermont
Seeing you both and your lovely boys and animals brings me joy. You are so hardworking and genuine and really deserve a hand up. You are fast becoming my favourite channel.

What a difference that sand blasting makes. Wow, I'm impressed. You guys are amazing and deserve all the success that is coming to you. Thank you for sharing your renovation-restoration with us.
Dan and family, loving all the hard work you're both doing it will be fab when finished. The hen and chicks adorable, making me feel broody! Hair dressers are like gold dust at the moment,! WCL
Dan & Annalise you are such a lovely couple with two beautiful boys. You both deserve all the good things that come your way & much more to come going forward. God bless you both & the children.
So happy you are revealing this beautiful old oven!!! Yes, sand blast and repoint and use this...love the brick design around the arch! I'm so glad there are young people like you all who care about these beautiful places and are bringing them back to life. All the best to you. The sandblasting looks amazing. Love the Hen and chicks...
💜 so satisfying to see the after from the sandblasting. Excited to see what you end up actually doing with the bread oven and I wouldn't complain if you ended all your videos with pig and chicken updates...Annalise, I hope you give him a Mohawk for being cheeky😄😉😂
Analise (spelling?), you are just so lovely and loved the four of you at the end of the video! One more vlog and I'm all caught up! Can't wait to follow along on this adventure of yours!
Oh my goodness I so wanted to hug Annalise when she came out of the school after dropping Jack off 💜!!! That kitchen is going to be so so amazing!! I don't think I ever thought about how messy sand blasting was - it makes sense but holy moly!!! And OH MY GOSH it's just such a huge difference!!! Your piggies are so cute! My uncle used to have a pig farm here in the states and I have some wonderful memories of summers spent on his pig farm. Thank you for another great video!
It's amazing how good sand blasting can restore old beams and brickwork etc. I hope you do open up the old bread oven as even if it becomes somewhere to place old items from it's past then cover them with a glass splashback, it could look great!!
I am so glad to hear that your channel has been monetized I will watch all the ads. BTW your family is so wonderful and beautiful. Keep up the great work.
I have been watching château renovations on RUclips for about a year now. I’m a bit of a late comer to this channel but I am really invested. As a former farm kid, I feel more connection to your home project so much so that I became a patron for the first time! Bravo! I love what you are doing and the joy you take in your efforts!
The baker's oven looks amazing! Well done! So happy to follow your progress. Annelise you handled the separation of Jack's first school day beautifully with loving strength, no theatrics, only positive reinforcement for the lad. I admire that and appreciate the deeper values behind that.
Love watching what you do with your place, and you should take out those bricks in the bread oven, that would look great. Your boys are adorable too. I'm a fan!
It's great to see the progress in the old bakery. I'm actually hoping you knock those bricks out of the old oven, and you could use the space as a niche behind the cooker. Well done, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your dreams come true in rural France. It looks a wonderful place to raise the children.
The sandblasting blasted the old soot right off, amazing. It would be an appreciated customer courtesy if they shop vac up the mess but great job anyway. It's great to see children back in school it's a sign we're getting back to normal : )
Maybe some contractors do that for an💲extra charge. Seems like a shop vac is a necessary tool for any serious DIYer to own. No one wants to ruin a good household vacuum removing dust or debris during home renos &/or any woodworking. Plus, they can suck up water from a broken pipe or busted water heater too.
I think you should take the bricks out of the oven and then either use the stones as backsplash and cover inside of the oven with glass or just cover all with glass - def take out the bricks though it will look beautiful - and who knows you could use it to store something

True! We renovated 3 houses while our boys were growing up. One turned out to be handy like his dad. The other one can barely use a hammer. Lol.
