      It just takes years of doing it. 🙂 Good fly lines also really help, and having your indicator close to the fly line instead of halfway down the leader etc helps a lot.

    Rod, you need to get some waterproof gear! ;-) Man I am just chomping at the bit with every video now. What a life you have! Headed up to Tunkwa and Edith this weekend. Always my first two lakes to hit. Looks like no winter kill at Edith at least.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  Год назад +1

      I am at Tunkwa right now, fishing has been quite challenging, mostly because the water clarity is poor due to runoffs. Today we managed to get a few 16" fish, and they were good looking. Edith sounded like it has been excellent this past week since ice off. I would give the smaller lakes near Tunkwa a try too as they have been doing well (Morgan, Six Mile and Logan).

      It is an electric boat loader, made in Kelowna BC. The website is www.loadmyboat.com. There are two different sizes depending on the size of the boat. My is a 14ft Jon boat and that's kind of the max size it can/should handle.

    • @FishingwithRod

      It really depends on the specimen. Those are stripped in because they are not that big. It’d be time consuming to keep pulling line off after each fight if I reel them all in. In the next episode, the fish are bigger, and some are reeled in.

    Hi Rod , I was at Rolly Lake today first time in around 5 years , Before that the lake was packed with people fishing , From Shore and Boats , To my surprise on a nice spring day with Temperatures at 15 Celsius no one was there Fishing from Shore or boat , Posted on the signs was a fish with a Red circle and a line across the fish On two post to me that means no fishing , do you know if Rolly is closed for fishing ? The signage seems to indicate that I could not find any workers From the camp ground , Any info would be great

    Amazing Video Rod! Can't help myself but think of a couple things to point out in terms of RUclips and video structure: the camera on a phone could get some magical macro shots of the actual fly's you uses to catch the fish. At the end of the video I would make a pitch for your video that shows how to set-up your fly rod for lake fishing. I would bet the CTR on that end screen would be 20%. All that said absolutely beautiful video, thanks for sharing!

      I made those myself actually, quite an achievement since I am not a handyman. 😆
      They’re plywood cut into the dimension needed. The back one just needs the edges cut to fit. The front needs a couple of 2x4s to level it when you put it in. Outdoor carpets glued and stapled.

    rod i gotta ask, watching a few of your videos i noticed you have a left hand retrieve on your trolling rod and a right hand retrieve on your stripping rod, is that just a prefrence or is there some science to that?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  Год назад +1

      Well, it does seem like there's some kind of strategic secret but there actually isn't haha... I was just using whatever I have. I have some reels spooled for right hand while others for left hand. I can do both, and they're mostly to accommodate others who come in my boat and use these reels.
